I've posted here before and I just wanted to throw an update out there as well as a lesson I've learned along this long road. Been divorced since February of 17 and I'm actually feeling pretty damn good. The divorce was solely her idea and I was still in love with her. Here it is august and the depression has faded, the self medicating has ceased. I'm actually happy! I'm not entirely 100% over my x but I don't feel sad every time I think of her. For those of you who are just beginning or still find yourself with the constant anxiety, I was one of you. Life will never be the same, but life does improve. Now, for the lesson I've learned. It took the state till fucking September to have the "holding of income" order pushed through and the child support drafted from every paycheck. Since February I've been paying direct payments to my x via online bank transfers. To my surprise I got a letter from the attorney generals office here in TX stating I was 13k behind on my child support and they were prepping to take action. Now I'm having to jump through hoops to prove my payments were made directly and have the AG's office call off the dogs. Guys, make the payments directly through the state as soon as they provide you with a case number, even if the case still says "pending." It'll save you a nightmare. Oh, and it's ok to start dating. Just don't start out so fast. We tend to really want to seek the affection of others after the divorce, but In my opinion all we are doing is looking for a crutch. Something to fill the gaping hole in your heart. Don't fall for it. Cheers guys!!
