Delve into the past is a waste of time and only leads to suffering. The past is as dead to me as a carcass lying at the side of the road, it's kind of a dream, an illusion, might aswell not have happened at all. You can learn from past experiences, but "what ifs" are stupid. The only thing that is real and we have control over is the present. The famous stoics explains this a whole better than I will, but it will be a groundbreaking experience once you truly internalize and absorb it.

It relates to someone making mistakes, moving on but paying for it. It’s like getting married with kids, getting divorced, moving on but you’ll be stuck paying for your mistakes 18+ years.
