This stupid fucking talking point again. No, that's not the purpose. It's called an "infection" because many of these sexually transmitted crap don't qualify as "diseases", like HIV. That's why they changed the name. Not to make it sound "less serious". Notice how they're not trying to trivialize how serious they are in this ad, even if "but they're just infections!"
It's not an obscure marxist plot by the scientific community. It's just a better, more accurate term.

While I understand what you're saying I do think there was a push to change the usage of the words. A "disease" has a negative connotation. An infection sounds like you had no control in the matter. I just have a small "infection", no big deal. Most people wouldn't think too much about that. But then turn around and say I have a "disease" and most people think negatively about you. There's a reason why "disease-ridden" is an insult (ex, you disease-ridden slut).
When women say I just have an infection now it makes it sound like she had no say in getting said infection. It removes her role in the situation. Never mind the fact that these bitches have complete control over whether the get an STD or not. Simply close your legs.

The only reason I can think of as to why they want to change STD to SDI is because of the old "STD = Subscriber Trunk Dialling" thing, but lets fact it, even the people who remember STD as a thing to do with landlines now only think "STD = Sexually Transmitted Disease" these days.

They changed it because "disease" is too harsh/serious/negative of a word and might imply that an afflicted thot is somehow damaged goods or that women should exercise a degree of caution before getting railed by randos. We can't have thots thinking any less of themselves for being walking infestations, nor taking responsibility for their and their partners' health, now can we?
