Iirc they look at the average through a certain timeframe, maybe a year? So just quitting your job right before divorcing wouldn't work. You'd need to work a minimum wage job for an extended period to get the least taken away, and if you get a better paying job in the future they can always come after you for more so you'd be stuck at that min wage job for the totality of the time you have to pay

I think you need to be unemployed for a certain length of time (like more than half of the marriage). It will be based on your tax return. So if you are planning on a divorce you need to get broke, hide the fact you are broke (or she will divorce you before you reach to times treshold).

What you want is to be that guy who was unemployed and broke all along and paying everything with credit. Then once you are divorced get a job and pay off your credit. It will hurt but you duck out of alimony and your ex doesn’t see a dime from you.

Your salary minus her salary divided by two. That's what you will have to pay every month.

If she's a total lazy shit and has no income, yes that means half your income goes to her.

The amount of years somewhere in the range of half of the years or marriage to the full years of marriage. Once 20 years is reached you have to pay her for life.

Go down to Part time, or take a mental leave of absence. Depends mostly on how well off you are and if you have a way to get your good job back. Blow the money on stupid shit and i mean empty the joint bank accounts. (Pay a lawyer a retainer a head of time(, then buy things that arent assests, boose, strippers, E girls. buy lavish presents for family members, (just have them keep the receipts. Its all about how you live, if you have a mortgage stop paying it, car notes, get it repo'd. Then once you get divorced you go into court stating you never afforded the life style in the first place. You have no house to split, you have no bank account to split, the cars are gone. You explain that both of you lived above your means for too long. Judge cant make your split what you dont have. Bankruptcy court is a bitch and your really only fucked for two years, you can get a new home loan after that, credit will be fucked for 7 years but you take that time not to be a fucking idiot for getting married, thats your punishment for trusting a women, You wont get out of this shitty life decision free. The Re balancing shit is totally fucked up, so you have to deal with that, however if you power through living in an apartment for a year, she will need some kind of sucker to mooch off of, she didnt get any assets in the marriage, also you fucked her credit up by losing the house. she will get remarried, or she will have to get a job. Once she has a better life than you, then you can start buying shit to show off. but until then keep your head down and your nose clean, and put anything you buy in your moms name.

what's to stop you from temporarily becoming unemployed and then divorce her? 50% of $0/month is still $0.

Because they know that trick and base it on what your "perceived earning potential" is.

Only way that would work, MAYBE, is if you became permanently disabled.
