The PUAs and the first MGTOW put a lot of significance on shit tests, that they are a kind of method by which a woman discovers who is alpha, who is beta, and so on.

The more I thought about it, and the more I saw these shit tests in action, the less I think they have much to do with sexual selection.

So here's my take. The term "shit test" is a concept in two parts:

1) It is a test that you can pass or fail.

2) It has no legitimate purpose, AKA, it is given for bullshit purposes.

I give tests as well: tests of character. Tests of capability. Tests of loyalty. Tests, in fact, for sexual compatibility.

None of these are "shit tests," because none of these tests are given unconsciously over petty stuff or for amusement or because I don't have anything better to do. Men, generally, don't waste their time or their words like that.

I can't say the same for women. Yeah, she'll give out these "tests," but the tests aren't about anything important, and are just thrown out there to amuse her, or create drama, or to convey things that are wholly unrelated to the parameters of the test...usually to deflect blame or to get away with something sneaky.

And that's the difference, I think, between how I, as a MGTOW, view shit tests, and how TRP and PUAs do. Because the PUAs and TRP set think that these a big, serious, important tests for a woman, to choose who they want to fuck (or something). In my experience, however, they ain't like that.

The evolutionary purpose of the "shit test" isn't related to hypergamy. The evolutionary purpose of the "shit test" is similar to the putrid slime the hagfish secretes when you grab hold of it in an attempt for it to squirm away. Because you'll find them shit testing betas, and shit testing alphas, for the same purpose, regardless of their status: to wiggle away out of responsibility for their words and actions.

If she leads the beta on to think she is wanting to get with him--and she knows it--she will secrete that putrid slime in the form of a shit test. If she is trying to convince the alpha that she's not doing anything wrong--when she knows she is--she will give him the shit test. But I don't see any evidence that she uses the shit test to choose who is alpha, and who is beta. I've every reason to suspect that she's made this decision without having to say much of anything, and she's much more likely to engage in an exercise of shit eating with people she's open to knowing better, rather than shit testing.

Here's what the PUAs think a shit test is:

Man: "Stop by McDonalds and get me a Fillet-o-Fish."

Woman: "Okay" (takes car and visits Chad's house for a screw. Returns home an hour later)

Man: "Were you at Chad's house for the last hour?"

Woman: "No"

Man: "Doesn't matter, but where's my Fillet-o-Fish?"

Woman: "I was stalled in traffic baby..."

Man: "Get the fuck out of my house!"

Woman: "Take me...take me now."

This is what a shit test actually is:

Woman: (gets text from Chad "I wana see u. u down?" Turns to BF) "Could you go to McDonald's and get me a Fillet-o-Fish?"

Man: "No prob. babe" (takes car to McDonald's. Woman texts Chad "u wana cum here in a hour r so?" Chad texts back "k". BF arrives back ten minutes later)

Woman: "Where's my Chicken McNuggets?"

Man: "Say what?"

Woman: "You promised me not ten minutes ago that you'd get me McNuggets."

Man: "I got you a Fillet-o-Fish like you said."

Woman: "I didn't say that."

Man: "You didn't? But I was standing right here--"

Woman: "See, this is what I just can't stand about you, you have absolutely no trust in me. You simply go on thinking you just have all the answers to everything!"

Man: "If it means that much to you, babe, I'll go out and get you Chicken McNuggets right now."

Woman: "No, why bother. Just give me the Fillet-o-Fish you selfish prick!"

Man: "No, seriously. If you want McNuggets, I'll get you McNuggets. There's no need to fight (comes in for hug)."

Woman: (pushes him away) "Don't touch me! You know, just go."

Man: "Get you McNuggets?"

Woman: "I don't give a fuck what you do, just get out of my sight."

Man: "But babe!"

Woman: "OUT!"

Man: "Does this mean we're over?"

Woman: "You know, I don't know. But I just need to think long and hard about what I'm feeling about you right now. And I think you had better think about this too, whether you can be conscientious and respectful enough to actually listen, instead of assuming I'll just put up with whatever...Because if our relationship has any future, you are just going to have to trust me more. Okay?"

Man: "Talk to you in the morning?"

Woman: "We'll see"

(man exits)

(ten minutes later, knock on the door)

Chad: "Hey babe."

Woman: "Want a Fillet-o-Fish?"

Humans have been screwed up for thousands of years...

We go from bad to worse.

Women just react to the reality and take advantage of it no matter what it is, if they can.

We are just in an epoch thats in denial about realities and nature in general.

Early humans came up with BS to explain things... modern humans do too.

Most of it now is money related. most of it in recorded history was too.

Early cultures had conquest and slavery, We have corporations and fossil fuels devices to do labor, so the idiots have less and less purpose and utility.

We dont need more population, and women are the most idiotic...

They serve no function, so are making up BS to appear relevent...

And what work actually needs done that they are supposed to be doing is getting slowed down to a crawl.

Appliances have increased, and women do less now than before the appliances gave them less to do...

ie beyond the effects of the labor saving devices.

They have no sense of urgency. Their survival is guaranteed.

When that changes, so will they.

The analogy might be a period in early history say after men invented the bow and arrow and could hunt mega fauna consistently with no end in sight... the women would have gotten lazier.

Just sit around and cook meat and complain they had to tan leather.

My guess: As late shit tests are a way to reduce the own emotional bonding and the own satisfaction with the husband it increases the desire and "justification" to get "comfort" from other men.

Evolutionary advantage: Makes it more likely for the woman to cheat and therefore have more offspring.

Interesting question OP. I had to give it some thought. Disclaimer: I haven't studied biology so I might be off factually.

Humans are primates from the Homo species. AFAIK all members of that species live in groups/ tribes (Chimps, Gorrilla's). Those groups have a strict hierarchy with 1 dominant alfa male. That male gets all the reproductive privileges. The advantage of living in a group is safety by numbers. The disadvantage is the potential of inbreed. Now the alfa males always need to "protect" their status and be on the guard for rivals. And of course one day they will be kicked off their "throne." And AFAIK that's usually an "outsider" male. Also AFAIK: much of the males youngs are kicked out of the group once they hit adulthood. Thus lowering the risk for the alfa to be overthrown but his own offspring and the kicked out males must try to take over a group.So IMO the females in those groups will constantly provoke the alfa male for 2 reasons: 1 to test if he's still up for the job and 2 to promote successors for a shot at the "throne." So the kicked out gorilla in the bushes might seize the opportunity to challenge an alfa male who doesn't respond well enough to the "shittest" the females put him up to.

So from a evolutionary POV this is my explanation. In the case of humans, we have taken steps to be independent of nature. No we're not completely independent but far less than animals are. We have gotten a highly advanced neocortex to think our way out of trouble, created tools, technique and have dominated this planet. We hardly have natural enemies and the population is big enough that extinction isn't a real threat (from a natural POV that is). We RP men have IMO accepted our natural instincts and learned not to immediately respond to them anymore. And I think women haven't.

Well, from an evolutionary standpoint...many women died in childbirth...so, perhaps it was to make men not miss them when they died.

It’s hardwiring it doesn’t just switch off.

Also our time is different. No perils or physical dangers or fear of starvation to keep her busy, appreciative of partner and focused on surviving another day. So instead of being brought game from the hunt, a successful war party, or being saved from some predator replace with dates flowers and grand displays. The constant fear she faces ie “wilderness” are other predatory women. So the test remain valid and necessary for continued “proof” of loyalty and security and ability to provide.
