I guarantee if a person skips eating every other day and goes for a four mile walk EVERY DAY carrying a 5lb dumbell in each hand (this takes about an hour)...that person will lose weight. Here's the kicker to all this...people who die of cancer tend to pass those genes on to their offspring. I've had a few friends who had parents that died or got cancer...eventually succumb to the disease themselves.
