The chivalric code was a code of conduct between knights and how they were to deport themselves on and off the battlefield. The only females the code respected were those of noble rank--all the other females were peasants to be used as a knight saw fit. The code also did not apply to those on the battlefield who were not of noble birth--this is important because most of the infantry during medieval times were serfs pressed into service by their lords.
