This is a purely materialistic post, to conservatively estimate the cost of getting married, having two kids, then getting divorced. If I leave anything out either on the cost side of marriage or on the list of cost equivalents, please comment.
The USDA states the cost of raising a kid with no disabilities to the age of 17 is $233,610. Lets assume after a $25,000 wedding, you make two of those. You send them to college to get gender studies degrees at $35,000 each.
So we are at $562,220. After your kids move out your wife wants a divorce and has no assets of her own, so you spend the average $20,000 on your lawyer and another $20,000 on hers. You lose the average valued $300,000 American home and have to pay $30,000 alimony. This brings the cost of the American dream to $892,220, probably leaving out many things.
A great part about going my own way is being able to work less and have more freedom to work fun jobs rather than high paying ones, but What if you made the same amount of money as the married man and went MGTOW?
Here are classic cars you can buy right now between $800,000 and $1,000,000.
here are businesses for sale in Hawaii for the same cost as the living the American dream.
If you are into alternative living spaces, here is a 90,000 square foot school with a basketball court, swimming pool, wood, metal, and auto shop for $700,000 saving you 150,000 or so to fix and furnish it. If you could have it re zoned as a home it would be the fourth largest house in the country.
This is just to demonstrate how much the sum of average costs is to the average American man. I do plan on living more minimally thanks to mgtow but equating stuff to money is an interesting way to really show the cost of being average.
