I was reading up on ticks and came across this wikipedia page:

Ticks feed on animal blood, attaching themselves to their host, taking a feed, and giving nothing in return. If the host is unlucky - they may get a nice surprise, like a new disease. In humans this could be Lymes or any of a number of others.

This quote in particular made me think - is this what human females do too?

... wait in a position known as "questing". While questing, ticks cling to leaves and grasses by their third and fourth pairs of legs. They hold the first pair of legs outstretched, waiting to grasp and climb on to any passing host.
