I discovered this subreddit a few weeks ago and it urged me to write this post. The grammar might not be that good so I apologise in advance. I would like some criticism on how to improve my this post and my writing in general.
This event took place on december in the year 2015, the year I became a senior in high school. I was on my way home on the bus when I started thinking about the fact that I haven't dated a girl in my school yet, so I started looking around when I noticed a girl that sat across from me. She was a freshman and she looked cute so I decided to ask her for a date, she said yes and we went to watch the new stars wars movie. The date went well and she asked me if I wanted to be in a relationship with her and I said yes. That moment was big mistake.
It wasn't obvious at first, there were times were me and her would be watching tv and if a naked girl showed up on screen she would cover up my eyes. I thought it was cute and playful and she only did it once so I never really gave it much of a thought. But then she started doing things that were red flags, like getting mad at me for being late on calling her at a certain time, getting mad at me if I wasn't there to walk her to her next class, and would expecially get upset if I wanted to go do something with family and she wasn't included or if she is included then she gets upset if I don't give her enough attention and she would say horrible things to me if she was upset. A huge red flag was when I was talking to her on the phone and I told her that my cousin (female) is having to live with us for a bit, no joke she hunged up on me because of what I told her. I just decided not to call her back and when she finally called me back, I tore her a new one because aparrently she got jealous. I mean come one, it's my cousin. I usually nipped it in the bud by telling her that not only is it ridiculously stupid but it's also not fair to me because I never did to her what she did to me. I never got mad if she wanted to hang out with family or anything. Then she would cry crocodile tears and I had to spend and extra hour or more to make her feel better, or I got hell the next day. It went on like this for two years, two freaking years of this b.s., but I never broke up with her because I wanted to try and make it work. There was one time I got close to ending it, about a year into the relationship, but then she pulled out the waterworks and made me feel guilty, not to mention she would cut herself as well. So against my better judgement I stayed with her. That was the second biggest mistake I made.
It all came to a head when my cousin (male) wanted me come over and stay the weekend, he lived an hour away which meant me and my gf wasn't gonna be able to hang out this weekend. Of course she was upset but I told her that wether she liked it or not, I was going because I rarely got to see my cousin were he lives so far and worked 2 pm to 11 pm on the weekdays. While I was there my cousin wanted me to watch an episode of the walking dead with him since the newest one was coming on at 9:00 pm. I texted my GF and told her that instead of calling her at 7:30 pm (which is the normal time I call.), I would call her at 8:00 pm. Not one minute after I sent the text she immediately called me and started raising hell, cussing me out and telling me she doesn't give a s@#$ if my cousin wanted me to watch an show with him. She was so loud that I didn't have to put my phone on speaker and my cousin and his GF (His wife now) could hear her clearly. I got up and walked to a seperate room to talk to her and try to calm her down. But she wasn't, relenting infact she exploded even more so I basically said screw it and told her that I was getting off the phone and that I was here my cousin not her and I would talk to her tomorrow morning.
This was sunday so I was going home that day and I talked to her the next morning (monday), she was still angry but calm, the calm you feel before the storm comes barreling through with the intensity of a typhoon on bull steroids. She was supposed to get off the bus (she was a junior at this time) at my house that day but I wanted to help my grandma with her yard since she was in her 60's. I called her during her class and explained the situation and that was when the storm hit. Just like yesterday she exploded and she was so loud my grandma could hear her and she has bad hearing problems. This was the metaphorical straw that broke the camels back, I asked her to hold on and muted the phone so she couldn't hear me. I looked at my grandma and asked "should I end it now", she only nodded. I unmuted the phone and basically told her that we were through, she excused herself from class and started crying again but this time I wasn't feeling guilty or merciful. I gave the longest speech I could give about why I'm ending it and I did not hold back. After it was all said and done I told her to never contact me again. I hanged up the phone before she could respond and turned it off. When I got home I turned my phone back on to call her grandmother and told her that I was ending it with my gf, she thought I was leaving my now ex gf for another girl. I told her I wasn't and told her that we got into a big argument that made me realize that it was better for me and my health. A guy can only handle physical and emotional abuse for so long.
In any case, the ex didn't get off the bus at my house and I never heard from her again. It was a good thing I broke it off with her too because she was talking about us getting married after she graduated from school. I also decided that I was gonna stay single and go my own way, because females today are freakin nuts.
TLDR; I was in a physically and emotionally abusive relationship for two years before deciding that I had enough of her bull while narrowingly dodging the trap known as marriage. Hell even my whole family hated my ex, my aunt wanted to claw her eyes out for some of the stuff she's said and done to me. Her grandma was actually really nice but my ex's mom was a b$&# from hell, she was a huge druggie and her husband (ex's stepdad) is too.
I hope it wasn't that long of read for you guys, and please be safe I had an experience where an ACTUAL 12 year old flirted with me at a wal-mart.
