this is what actually led to one of my breakups.

we had been together for a year (not living together), and had a huge fight about something really dumb. she decided to give me the silent treatment for 2 weeks, and at first i was missing her, but towards the end, i realized how much less stress i had, and that i was actually happier. i wanted the silent treatment to continue indefinitely, so i ended things with her.

she immediately tried to get back together and tried to shame me for not wanting to work at it, but mainly i was just grateful to her for giving me enough time to gain that perspective, so her tactics were ineffective.
