Even though I'm still trying to finalize divorce I've felt for almost 2 years marriage is bs and a lie. Today for some reason I'm really asking why the heck everyone tried to sell us on marriage despite pretty much all of them suffering in theirs? I mean society always says it's great and if you know people superficially they act like it's great but the moment you get to know them you realize it's a facade. Think it's a convo I had in another thread. Dude claimed his ,his brothers, and his parents marriages were all 'exceptional'. I assumed him and his bro weren't married long but was told 7 years and 12. Why is it that I just can't believe that? Would be one thing if it were just one marriage . I dunno . I've had too many people tell me things were great or their wife was wonderful and you find out actually it's a lie. I'd make the caveat that if you're still in first few years ok maybe it does feel that way. Then again he did add the caveat that it requires sacrifice and giving up things and used the example of can't party until 3 (most of would have been happy if thats all that was required. I wouldn't even want to party to 3 at this point lol)

Is it like somebody that buys something with a high cost then try to justify their purchase? I was married 10 years and all the couples I met.. best I could say is some found some type of content/resigned state. I mean I know social media you'd see my pics and may think things were ok. Can't remember telling anyone marriage was great.. I prob just said things were ok. I get you don't want to tell everyone it's terrible. It's just.. to me the wonderful, fulfilling marriage seems to be a thing of legendz I have yet to truly see one. My grandparents maybe were close but maybe I didn't know what was truly going on. Like I just feel society for some reason loves spreading a lie that nobody wants to speak the truth on. Feels like some werid conspiracy everybody is in on or some strange ego competition where nobody will admit it's not that way for them.
