Remember Office Space? Work just hard enough to not be recognized coasting along so you don't pull aggro. Work only a bit better than coworkers so you can use your reputation to find a better job/work environment.

I worked harder when I was younger so that work feels easy to me. Coast is definitely the idea. Never let them see you work too hard and then it sets the new standard for what they expect. Make sure you accomplish goals but don’t do anything special unless there’s a tangible reward behind it.

I'm kinda jealous sometimes at people who can. Blows my mind seeing public positions and how lax they are with so much security. In oil and gas here we bust out asses off and face layoffs every few years .. used to be we got paid handsomely but not really anymore... Was stagnant for a while and then last few years when people got hired back been making way less. Thing is even up to my last day I'd be handing siemthint over to the client to sign. People alreayd worked hard in industry but now being asked to do same jobs with smaller teams and making less. You see even in everyday life how incompetent the average person id and some make good money . It's like it's not fair lol

Man I wish. So tired of being micromanaged, 60+hours a week, and berated for the stupidest things. But whatever, better to have a job I guess.

I would say I'm coasting as I work in one of the ministries of my country. Work-life balance is phenomenal as we don't have to worry much about profits and losses due to it being civil service. Tons of perks and the compensation gets adjusted every year.

I'm a Senior Software Developer, I mostly love what I do, as i've been into coding since I was a little boy, and I work with a great team. Only downside, is sometimes I have to work 14 - 15 hours a day to make sure a Software deployment runs smoothly.

Other than that, i'm living the dream :-)

Just give 50-60% effort and it will be their normal expectation.
