I would recommend looking at the FAQ and the material linked in the side bar. The MRM doesn't claim that there are no problems that women face, but rather that we choose to focus on the issues that men face because no one seems to be talking about them.

I'm tempted to think you're just trying to start a fight for your own enjoyment, but I will answer as though you're serious just in case.

As someone has already stated, what rights exactly do you have that women do not have?

It has been 93 years since women got the right to vote. It has been 143 years since black men got the right to vote. It has been 163 years since the great majority of white men got the right to vote. The time between most white men gaining the right to vote and women getting the vote (70 years) is a shorter time than it has been since women got the vote up until right now. Throughout most of human history, almost everyone (men and women) had very little influence over government.

Not even close to true. Men get assaulted far far more than women do.

Finally something that is true. So women are the only ones who get to address this persecution while men have to suffer in silence? Even if it were true that women faced MORE persecution than men (which it's not) arguing that men should not be allowed to address this persecution would still be ridiculous

We haven't had to fight to gain the ability to work for ourselves in the last 100 years, we haven't had to fight to be our own person independent from our spouse in the last 100 years, and we haven't had to deal with the other sex keeping us from doing those things.

First of all just let me point out that regardless of what has happened historically, the men's rights movement exists right now. It is currently not 100 years ago. Secondly, women historically did not work outside the home largely because they did not want to and/or could not physically perform the work which needed to be done or it was very dangerous work that put them at risk. One could argue that men were also historically not their own person independent from their spouse because men were legally and socially responsible for their spouse. In many cases even if a woman committed a crime, her husband would be punished. This system was not so much persecution of women as it was persecution of basically everyone. It was men's duty to protect and provide for women by performing dangerous and difficult work and all women had to do was take care of the house and babies and do the easy work. Sorry, I forgot... who was supposedly persecuted in this scenario again?

Regardless of history, however, let me say again. The men's right movement is not a historical movement. It is a movement that is taking place right now. If you have any arguments for women, in general, having more rights or privilege than men right now, please feel free to present them.

Please go through the rights that are given to you as a male that the government gives you that they do not afford women, based entirely upon your gender.

Then please go through the obligations that women are forced upon by the government that men are not, based entirely upon gender.

Because I can give you a long list of the opposite.

I think if you break down men's issues and women's issues you'll find that men have just as many if not more in 2013 in the western world.

There is a difference in the way men and women are viewed in society. The fact that it was ok to have a debate about whether or not men were obsolete for example. That would never be acceptable if you were talking about virtually any other group.

There are issues such as the fact that men are often discriminated against in the courts, either in situations like divorce or family courts but also in criminal matters where statistics show that men are sentenced more harshly under the same circumstances as a woman would be.

Another issues are the fact that men still have to register for selective service, the fact that men historically have been expected to die for the good of society which can also be seen in the old women and children first policies. Even today men make up more of the dangerous jobs and workplace fatalities.

Boys are falling behind in school and going to college at a lower rate than girls and commit suicide at a higher rate and receive less support in cases when abused. There are all sorts of double standards that exist as well which are often pointed out on this subreddit.
