End Illegal Sexism in STEM Hiring in Violation of Title IX

Please be aware of a recent study demonstrating sexism in STEM hiring practices in violation of Title IX:

As the co-directors of the Cornell Institute for Women in Science, they have spent much of the past six years researching sexism in STEM fields. And according to their latest study, published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, women are no longer at a disadvantage when applying for tenure-track positions in university science departments. In fact, the bias has now flipped: Female candidates are now twice as likely to be chosen as equally qualified men.

Note that this includes STEM fields such as biology or psychology where the majority of graduates are already women.

I urge you to enforce Title IX to protect the rights of men applicants to nondiscrimination in educational programs:

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance.

As was the intent of Congress, Title IX protections include hiring:

Id. at 5806-07. Senator Bayh decried the "sex discrimination that reaches into all facets of education – admissions, scholarship programs, faculty hiring and promotion, professional staffing, and pay scales." Id. at 5803 (1972).
