To the extent that discrimination exists in this matter, it is the threat of dismissal if the employee fails to comply with the dress code. The Equality Act (2010) says you can't discriminate on the basis of any one of the 10 or so protected classes, in this case, sex, but I don't think it requires that the rules imposed be identical. Comparable ≠ same. Provided the rules are spelt out at the outset, they're enforced equally on both sexes, and the rules are appropriate for the sex and occupation, it's probably okay.
The only differentials in the quoted code are the hair length limit and the prohibition of ear piercings for men, but these are consistent with social norms (and, more specifically, industrial norms in many sectors) and I don't see how these rather moderate limitations are particularly discriminatory, in violation of the Equality Act or are in any other way particularly problematic.
Of course they can. Beard length is not a protected class, but sex and religious affiliation are. Being fired for refusing to trim your beard is not the same as being fired because you're male.
How these things interact with religious affiliation is a stickier point, and depends on specific circumstances.

What, exactly, is wrong with this dress code?
It distinguishes between men and women, but since social norms wrt dress are different for each sex anyway and cross-dressing (for example, although it's worse one way than the other) is frowned upon, it seems pretty reasonable to me.
