I'm currently going through a custody dispute in the US. I'm an unmarried father so it's basically a pay-to-play game from the get-go. What really shocks mean is the double standard applied not only in the law but in all the legal professionals involved. From what I can tell the standard is that regardless of how insane mom is the default position is she must be the best parent. I have the task of perpetually demonstrating that I'm not only as qualified as her, but better, if I want any rights at all. If she refuses visitation or is found to be lying on court documents the burden is still on me to provide why that's a problem. It's almost as if the legal system never anticipated women simply refusing to follow the rules. Has anyone else had experience with this?
