District Attorney George Gascon said Wednesday that he hoped to make a decision by the end of the week on whether to charge Mirkarimi for an incident involving his wife, Eliana Lopez, on New Year's Eve.

Lopez last week denied the allegations, saying in a statement that she has "absolutely no complaint against my husband."

Gascon acknowledged that Lopez is not cooperating with investigators, which he said "is often the problem of domestic violence cases" that involve victims' significant others.

Aww, the poor DA is crying about an element of doubt getting in the way of kangaroo court justice.

If he didn't do it, and he denies doing it, he is "silencing the community" of bloodthirsty man haters.

The mood during the conference, in which about two dozen women stood in approving silence behind Upton during her address, was one of denunciation. Asked if she believed Mirkarimi had indeed committed a crime, Upton replied, "The crime to me is to silence the community. The crime to me is to silence the neighbor. The crime to me is to roll back progress."

"I'm not judge, jury, or executioner," she added. "We won't let them silence this community."

Hello, contradictory statement. Isn't it the judge's and jury's job to listen to witnesses, not "the community"? Why do judges have jobs, and what are courts for, when we can just have mob justice by "the community"?
