Hey guys, I just got wind of TRP a few days ago and I've been frequenting it quite a bit and nostalgia'ing pretty hard. Circa 2005 I got wind of the PUA community and was really enthusiastic about taking charge of my romantic life and not just going for the "low-hanging fruit." I have been a staunch defender of the techniques associated with "the Game" and I often think that detractors simply don't understand the admirable end goal of self-improvement/"inner game" or are responding to the worst outgrowths of the community.

In any event, while I recognize the wisdom in many PUA teachings and TRP posts, I can't help but think that it is only wisdom within the context of the socio-economic system we live in; we happen to live in a world predicated on scarcity and gaming for advantage, and if we lived in a world where there wasn't a commodity status associated with the vagina things would be different. To illustrate my point, pay attention to a lot of the rhetoric we use: we talk about making sure you get sex for your time spent with a girl, or fair value for the exchange; I've been listening to Patrice's BP show and he uses verbs like buying and selling. Basically the whole idea behind not getting played is making sure you are getting either a fair exchange for your effort/courtship or more than you put in. The underlying idea is that your time (like all of our resources) is scarce, and vagina is similarly scarce and so both are used as bargaining chips by men and women respectively.

Hopefully you follow my line of reasoning thus far. If you do, imagine for a sec if we lived in a post-scarcity world where all of the necessities of life were available without a price tag and without toil. With less competition for (artificially) scarce resources people would no longer worry about proprietary rights and exclusive rights and would be more giving of both their time and their bodies. This is not to say that it would be one big orgy (although why not?), but I think the more we move toward a fully-automated, post-scarcity world, the less we will need to keep accounts, whether financially or sexually.

Chew on that for a sec.

I know some people are gonna make the (provably wrong) argument that we have human nature which dictates we game for advantage in both survival and romance, but in reality all we have are potentials; we can be competitive or collaborative; its a matter of what behaviour is reinforced by the environment. I think that an environment which reinforced collaboration and abundant access for all would mitigate the need for "the game" as it were.

Til that glorious day, game righteously and leave her better than you found her.
