He is clear it is not an overall number, it's 33% of people who take the initiative to get a test. That distinction is important because it's safe to assume someone who bring their kid in for the test is more likely than average to have doubt.

The overall number of dads who are unaware they are raising a bastard in the US is between 4-10% . Much lower, but still insanely high. High enough to suggest that we all know someone in this situation, and that is scary and depressing as fuck to think about

Although I'm sure there are many men who have children who aren't actually theirs, I'm sure that the 33% statistic is not representative of the entire population. Men who are doubtful that the child is theirs are more likely than those who are not doubtful to get the test in the first place, thus some amount of sampling bias is taking place.
