My father is unfortunately a beta man, and was rarely around when I was growing up, but when he was, that was the influence I received. I was mostly raised by my grandma and mother, and did not have many strong male role models from my early years to now. I am not trying to make excuses for being beta, only giving background as to what has formed me.
In my group of friends I have typically been the beta one or the one that is picked on, that is just now starting to change as I confront them and modify my behavior. My whole life I have been very shy around girls I am attracted to, even up to this point. Part of this stems from my tendencies of one-itis and pedestalization that I did not realize back then were such negative behaviors. I have only had one girlfriend freshman year of college which was by chance, she was attracted despite my beta personality, I ended that when she became too clingy, though.
I find many of the opinions held on this sub to be truth, a truth that I have been lacking, leading to lack of success with women and lack of respect from friends. My question is, how do I become Alpha? I'm coming into my last year of college now, going to be an RA which is an important leadership position and I also want to have success with attracting women and establishing myself among male friends this year. How do I undo what has formed me up to this point? I'm tired of watching the alpha males all around me receive respect from other males and get women to worship them, while life slips me by
