TL;DR
She may turn on you when you are at your weakest.
Broken hearted boy
This 26 year old guy found a poor, depressed girl and nursed her along.
I gave up seeing friends, eventually losing them, so I could stay and try and cheer her up. I was afraid to leave the house in case I came back to a dead or self harmed girlfriend. I didn't study for my final exams
She depended on his support and love, refusing to see doctors, so he sacrificed his friends and social life for her.
I'm 26 and had a heart attack of unknown cause 5 months ago which nearly killed me. My serious GF of 3 years (lived together etc) started gohsting me shortly after I got out of hospital.
Her hamster wheel was spinning.
At one point I was suicidal and she did not want to know. She decided she'd prefer to go on holiday with her "friend" who she hated with a vengeance a couple of months before.
I'm sure it was innocent, right? She just needed a break from the stress.
1 month after her holiday she ended the relationship because of my heart attack because I "could be dead in 10 years"
I guess she wasn't so helpless after all. Maybe meeting Chad on the trip gave her the strength to dump her sickly beta.
Poor guy. Maybe he'll find the Red Pill.
Cheers mate, I only stumbled on TRP today looking for ways to get over it all and I didn't like the way they thought about women, almost as if they were a subspecies for hook ups and sex.
Oh well. Can't save everyone.
The elderly alpha - the natural
"Broken hearted boy was a career beta. A woman would never do that to an alpha."
A while back I wrote on MRP about a couple elderly alphas that I've met. The Natural is a 93 year old man with a girlfriend in her 60s. She stays at his place only when he calls. She runs all his errands. He reads, does woodworking, plays cards professionally, socializes, and lives life on his own terms. She adores him and follows him around like a puppy dog.
Last week the natural alpha came into my office. He has been sick for 6 weeks - nothing terrible, but he's depending on her help right now.
You can predict how it went.
"I don't think you're taking that medication right."
"You forgot your list at home, didn't you."
Admiring looks and gentle touches have been replaced by scornful looks from a distance, her chair angled slightly away, arms folded.
From the same post, there was the Reverend, whose wife stood by him during a much more serious and prolonged life-threatening illness. The difference is that she was not the one delivering care. He did not depend on his wife, while the Natural did.
I see this pattern play out again and again in the hospital. These are not isolated incidents.
Lessons learned
- Women need to respect and admire you in order to love you.
- When you get sick, you need to remain stoic and own your shit in order to have a chance to retain her respect and admiration. You don't get a day off from being a man.
- She may seem like an angel now, but you must remind yourself AWALT to avoid getting blindsided when you are at your weakest. You will not know where she is on the AWALT-unicorn spectrum until the shit hits the fan.
- If she's a fixer-upper, a poor, wounded bird and you're not married, next her and get therapy. Picking those girls is bad for you and isn't normal. You're not a hero for picking her.
- I'm not saying that she will leave you when you get sick, because some women stick to their men, but you won't know for sure until it happens. Be prepared. Don't let yourself be blindsided like Broken Hearted Boy.
