Is intersectionality (think feminism) a religion?

Intersectionality is just another way to divide people into categories and then treat people differently based on those categories. It comes from the same tribalist views as racism and sexism and I am constantly at a loss as to why more people don't see it. The people who do see it usually refer to it as the "Oppression Olympics".

Feminism is absolutely a religion however intersectionality would be closer to one of the "books" of their Bible.

Be wary of Turning Point USA (your third video). They are deeply entrenched in right wing politics and have some very dangerous views on gender roles.

Have you read any bell hooks? She's the person that turned me onto intersectionalism in the first place when I was about two steps away from being a misogynist and racist.

That first video is stupid. None of it makes sense from both sides, and it's an absolute mess.

And feminism is never a movement for putting one class of people over others. It is looking for equity not equality. Intersectionalism is important in terms of that. It is a way of viewing society and individuals in all their facets within the power structures.

So using that, it allows for more specified action and organizing based on each groups' needs in the face of systematized oppression.

And I don't understand the religious cult kinda stuff you're talking about. Maybe you could elaborate a bit more.

I'm a white man, and I don't feel at a disadvantage or ignored by this branch of feminism. Intersectionalism (like privilege and cultural appropriation) is a neutral term and idea. It doesn't aim to oppress or invalidate. It's just a way of viewing power structures in relation to the individual.

Edit: Oh hey, just to add a tiny thing. The Evergreen College debacle was during that same time when cancel culture was extremely popular. Nowadays, cancelling does happen, but a much more nuanced look at reparations and learning from minority folks has become much more popular.

Most feminists that I know look at cancelling as a dead-end for change and growth as a society.
