Does engaging in activities that don't quite fit your projected image and yet have high status offer a bigger increase in the SMV than they would do if they fitted it?

For instance, does playing chess adds more for the personal trainer than it does to the Engineer?
Dressing well is worth more for the Engineer than for the marketing professional?

I often have the impression that a high value activity or hobby offers more value if it is out of the person's overall image.

Do displays of contrasting and yet high status characteristics increase the value of this characteristics, or decrease it because of the lack of coherence and presumed lack of authenticity?
