Honestly, this is all wrong. What is your end goal? You figure out the steps based on what goal you want to achieve. If you want to do a side-project to generate cash, what is your side project going to sell that makes money? Then how do you get there... If you want to become a computer scientist, what degree do you need to get there, how do you apply, how do you pay for that, etc...

Bro, you'll need to learn to code before you can make anything useful.

Most professional programmers would struggle to initiate a project which meets all the criteria you list.

The obvious step 1 is to learn to code. Your first projects will be only for the sake of learning.

You can get rich doing anything, selling shit on amazon, the stock market, whatever, so why wouldn’t you choose your passion to become rich?. If programming is actually your passion or you think it might be then there are 2 fields that are never gonna die: web development and mobile apps. There are 2 basic parts to a project, front and back end, you can either specialize in one or be a full stack developer (startups are always looking for these ones). What should you learn? I love c# for backend and angular for front, but if you want a broader field probably JavaScript all around.

Another field that’s it’s really attractive is artificial intelligence and data mining, I really want to get onto this one. You can learn Python, R or any of those languages.

I usually do my courses in Udemy, really nice platform to start learning, and there are many full stack courses.

You’re naive if you’ve never coded and are asking for ideas on what to make for a software so that you can make money. That’s like a sixteen year old asking what car he should buy to start doing Uber with when he doesn’t even have his learners permit. Pump the brakes and relax. Coding is a long and arduous process. Concepts are not easy to understand and everyone can not learn to code. It’s not a fast track to the rich and famous lifestyle. If you’re interested in learning to code I can recommend a few places. All of these are paid websites and free of bullshit that you’re going to find quality content from. I’ve got a membership to all of these websites and I can assure you they’re excellent tools to get you started.

I get it, we've seen the boom of tech empires in the last decade, and I'm sure this all seems like a great scheme: learn to program, make a successful startup, see cash raining down from the sky. Well I have some bad news for you.

You are looking for a shortcut. No amount of work will guarantee you of financial freedom. There are only two things that are certain: if you start off with money, you may be able to make more money; and to win big, you need to risk big. If you want a guaranteed income as a programmer, take a regular software job. You may end up making $200k a year if you are good, but you'll be working 40+ hours a week. The only way to make $200k a year while not working more than 2 hours a day is to be earning this money from prior investments. If your software does not need updating beyond those 2 hours a day, nobody will want to keep paying you for it. Unless you get a patent, but with that we're back to gambling.

I've seen my fair share of bad programmers, precisely because so many people go into it thinking it's a road to fortune. You should only pursue it if it is really something you have a passion for. If your goal is to make money, go into finance or business.

University is the most employable route. But bootcamps exist and they do work. But I would look into codeacademy, freecodecamp and the Odin project for web development. If you can go through the entire tutorial and still enjoy it and see yourself excelling in it then look for either a school that offers it or a bootcamp
