I've personally found that if a girl wants to fuck you, and by proxy sees you as a desirable male, she will automatically want to contribute half, if not pay for your shit. I cannot recall a single first date where I paid for more than 50% of the total. Typically just coffee. I had one Chinese girl pay for two bottles of wine at one of the best bars in my city. I bought the first two cocktails only. She also jerked me off in the rooftop gazebo, but that's a different story.

If a girl gets bent out of shape/ghosts you because you didn't foot the bill... tough luck son, because she pegged you as beta bucks.

Personally I don't pay for anything more than coffee. Usually it depends on who commuted more, if anyone was late, was paid for the last one. I just feel it out and never pay more than a few dollars over my fair share.

This isn't an issue if you date properly. I know there are rules and macho and all that, but just protect yourself.

So it's your first date. You are going to take her somewhere normal, not fancy. Hell, you shouldn't be taking her places that are going to cost you a lot anyways on the first date, so the issue of paying isn't that big of one, you catch my drift?

Like, a first date routine I do is take them for a walk in the park with my dog, and we end up walking to the local ice cream shop. If I pay for a cone I'm not hurting for it.

What you don't want to do is be a goober and take her somewhere that's gonna cost you triple figures as a first date, and then you would look like a chump whether you pay or don't pay, IMO.

I always pay, I date girls max of 2 to 3x, have sex for 2x then leave them or continue meeting just for sex. Dont be cheap, if it just coffee or dinner then pay, of course dont bring her to some fancy restaurant just to show off.
