TLDR; I (31M) met a girl (21F) while serving in the Army. We really hit it off in person and she’s extremely flirty, but when we text or Snapchat she hardly responds despite being really into social media and being very outgoing. Does she like me?

So I (31M) met this girl (21F) when I started AIT (basically military college) in the Army. I’ve only known her for about 3 weeks but we really hit it off as friends since the beginning, but then our friendship started to develop into something a little more. We started texting every day and one day she asked me to change my seat in class to sit next to her. We’re always cracking jokes/laughing and having some pretty deep conversations about anything really. She’s always sitting really close and touching my arm/tapping my shoulder/brushing her leg against mine to get my attention if I’m watching YouTube or whatever, and compliments me all the time. She’s absolutely beautiful and she has a great personality so I reciprocated her flirts and started to flirt back (she always smiles and blushes when I do). She started telling me about how she got a Dear John letter in basic training from her then Fiancé (it was something like 3 months ago) and venting her experiences with roommates and the Army in general, which I don’t mind, I love talking, especially to her. I ended up asking her on a date last week and she said yes. However the date ended up falling though because her mother’s coming to visit her the same day we were supposed to go out(completely understandable) and she said we’d have to postpone the date.

The confusing part to me is this past week she’s been the exact same way in person but doesn’t text back a lot of the time. For instance when she told me about her mother I asked if we could go next week and she didn’t reply. I know she’s really into social media/texting and such so I don’t think it’s her being shy/not a texting person. I will admit I’m pretty awkward through text so maybe she just prefers to talk to me in person?

Oddly enough a couple of my friends ended up asking if she liked me/was my girlfriend while I wasn’t around and she blushed and said I’m a little old (keep in mind the Army doesn’t really allow formal relationships between soldiers).

So I’m not entirely sure what to think. Maybe she’s a little put off by the age difference, but she’s known how old I am this entire time so why be so flirty and agree to go on a date? Do you think she likes me? Or am I reading too much into her just being friendly?
