I wouldn't say that was "not good".. you told a crush she was attractive, and she agreed to go out with you. That's not smooth, but it grasps some basic concepts of seduction.
She might be uncomfortable because there's not enough sexual tension. It would be more comfortable for her if you communicated implicitly through words and body language, that you find her sexy, and that you two should do something about that. The reason this is more comforting than playing it safe has an explanation I don't feel like typing right now, but I will if you ask me.
I think you just need to take the lead and do something. Invite her out for a date. If possible, do this in the middle of an in person convo with a playful and slightly sexual vibe. If not possible, you can probably do it over text.

That was because of two things. The fact that she was hot, and also the nuances of the interaction. So you need to do the same. You want to be the most attractive man you can be, then hijack the nuances of that kind of interaction, so that you can turn her on.
Be as attractive as possible (things you work on in long term not just in the moment), and interact in a way that has an underlying sexuality.
