New to this sub!
TL;DR went out with my roommate, got an intro to two girls, went home with one and did the deed.
It was a typical thursday, went to some classes and came home and didn't really have any plans for the night. My roommate and I had a sudden itch to just go out to the massive bar by our university in the city. We get ready, didn't really overdress tshirt and jeans.
Arrive at the bar, bump into my roommates friend, call him Sam and another friend James. We walk around and talk to groups of girls to warm up, short conversations and complements and introductions sometimes and tell them we'll see them around later tonight (this place is huge!). Couple drinks and not an hour later, Sam bumps into two girls he meet at the bar last week apparently and he doesn't remember their names. At this point we're all buzzed and really comfortable, after those earlier approaches and generally pumped.
Sam is quite a character, he loves making fun of people. So the first thing he did was jokingly drunkenly yell the 3 japanese words he knew to the girls (both were japanese). The girls are not offended and laugh hysterically as Sam embarrasses himself. He bragged how poor his japanese was and we all broke the ice really fast introducing ourselves and talking about what we were drinking. Everyone at this point was smiling and still laughing as Sam was making a spectacle of himself saying how much he loves japan (he doesn't actually).
My roommate wasn't at all interested and he pulled out Sam as soon as James and I began talking to the girls separately close by. This is where the magic happens. Sam was great at getting the conversations started and all, but he wasn't serious enough to hold in a longer conversation. My roommate knows this and decides to yank him out and go with him elsewhere in the bar. This leaves James and I with girl A and B.
I start talking to A for about 10 minutes about how different life is growing up in japan. I'm not really into A as much as B whose talking to James. Around here we all talk as a group since we're close by and I manage to relate to things B was saying, I notice her glass was empty and so was mine so I ask if she wanted to get a drink. So I leave with girl B and walk down a bit, get her a drink. I keep telling her funny stories about Sam and my roommate and she laughs and looks like things are going well, I move in closer so our arms are brushing and talk a bit more and ask her if she wanted to dance downstairs at the bar.
Now I pass by James and girl A, tell them we're heading down to dance and they should join us. All 4 of us go down and dance for 30 minutes, mostly 1 on 1 dancing. This is where I get physical placing my arms on her hips and her arms on my shoulder and locking eyes a lot. Didn't go for a kiss, couldn't do it for some reason.
So I ask her if she's tired and wants another drink, we both head back up to the bar and it's just us two we talk a bit more and I suggest getting fresh air outside. She agrees and says goodbye to her friend downstairs (who was totally cool ditching her since she's with James).
Anyways we step outside and walk around a bit holding hands and talk, I tell her my place isn't too far and she can stop by for a drink. So we keep walking 15 minutes (yeah not that close). And get to my place, show her my awesome view of the city and pop that last beer. Then show her my room, close the door. She sits on my bed and I show her some stuff in my room, we're still both drunk so this is hilarious me explaining why I have basic furniture. I sit down beside her and she's just staring at the christmas lights hung on my room, so I said something like 'hey, how does this feel' and went in for a short kiss. We both lock eyes after the kiss and then both jump in and make out on my bed. Rest is history.
Think the things that made this a success were the following:
no expectations for the night (just wanting to go out and relieve school stress) meant that I didn't pressure myself to do anything other than enjoy myself the whole night
had a friend, Sam, who introduced us and had us all laughing our asses off
friends leaving you alone with the girl after talking a bit and introducing each other and short conversations
I didn't seem so desperate for A, excluded her initially by talking to B for 10 minutes.
escalated physical contact through the night
making sure we left the bar alone (was stuffy inside)
the entire night I was making sure I was having fun and always laughing and smiling, never was concerned about what someone else was thinking. this made it more genuine
