And she was all smiling like a fucking child and talking but then the clerk started yelling at some woman and I was like "He's usually a nice guy but his husband left him" then she suddenly just looked at me weird and left.

Off-hand, the fact you went negative on the clerk in an attempt at cheap humor, probably blew you out.

But you seem to suspect this already.

ALL you needed to do was just talk naturally with her about her.

Or at least, resisted the urge to try bringing someone else down to make you look better. (Which, like it or not, is what your attempted joke represented to her.)

And the other one, I used an assumption on her and I got it right and she was like "omg how did you know???", and I said "I'm a psychic" then she said "Alright" and left.

You came off like a pick up artist. Lol? It's ironic, but I'm serious here. This is why stuff like canned lines, routines, "cold-reading"/assumptions, etc.... Are limited in usefulness. A lot of girls can smell a guy using them and know it's a "pickup."

And it's not that they don't want to be picked up. It's that they don't want to deal with their perception of a "pickup artist." At this point the whole Mystery thing is out there. He had a damn show on TV where PUAs competed against each other for girls. People are very aware of this style of pickup and it leads to negative reactions.

Not from everyone, but honestly, you probably don't want to be with the kind of messed up girls that are not going to be turned away. (Could be related to why that shy girl you posted about before is looking like a good option?)

Lmao you're right it definitely was an attempt at cheap humor, I kind of ran out of things to say and wanted to "be in the moment" and talk about what's happening,

Actually, talking about stuff in the moment was a good thought. ;) Just going in that direction wasn't. It really didn't need to be fancy. Even just mentioning the obvious would have been enough. (Wow, dude sounds angry....) Simply relating on the emotions there could have been interesting.

I thought if I brought up "his husband" it would lead to talk about dating/sex and take it from there lol.

It probably just came off as weird.

Side-note: even if you are going for the quick pull in day game or something (like meet and have sex quickly), you don't ever need to talk about sex.

It's entirely too easy for sex talk happening before sex, to take the whole thing off the rails. And it's not necessary.

And you're right about the second one too, I always try to refrain from the whole Mystery stuff but I still use assumptions instead of asking questions.

By all means explore that if you want. Assumptions, I mean. But consider two things:

Assumptions are either luckily correct, creating a false sense of connection over nothing, unless you had a logical basis for your assumption.
Questions aren't bad. People go on about how Interview Mode is bad and you avoid it by using statements and assumptions. It's patently false. There's nothing wrong with questions. The problem is that many guys ask a question and instead of listening while the answer is being given, think about what they want to say next. Then all they say in reply is a throwaway comment like, "Cool cool..." Or whatever. And then they dump what could have been a great thread, to ask the next question.

Those were definitely mistakes I should work on but I honestly feel like those girls were just the type to get triggered easily.

I'd avoid writing people off like this.

It could be true. But ultimately you'll never know. Honestly the second one, I get. It's like you had her thinking that you were tuned in and noticed something somehow, to arrive at your guess. And you're all, nope. Just goofing around. She peaced out in disappointment.

And Girl 1 also. There she had a dude she was enjoying the interaction with and then he starts making weird, possibly homophobic, and discriminatory comments towards some dude he doesn't even know.

Both of these things are not unreasonable to expect people to be turned off by. Especially in a stranger.

I said far more "dark" stuff to others and calibrated and turned it around.

Sounds intriguing. But vague.

Yeah now she's looking like a great option, at least she has a great sense of humor
