Amsterdam is a great city to meet girls, from tourists, to students, to expats, to all sort of girls. However, some places have very arbitrary door policies and refuse you for some silly reason. The increase your changes, you have to stay polite, be with a girl or alone, dress properly for the club (but in many cases, that means casually or hip), come early and not be a tourist. My tips are from my perspective, so your experience might be totally different, I am a native and speak dutch.

Nightlife centers mostly around Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein.

During the weekend you'll find lots of people from Amsterdam and people from outside of Amsterdam. During the week you'll find mostly students and tourists. Thursday evening is a real students night. Many people from Amsterdam prefer sunday and friday because it draws a different crowd.

In most cases: the worse the music, the easier the women.. tourists tend to be quite enthusiastic, especially the english.. also watch out, some tourist places have some prostitutes solliciting.

Around Leidseplein you find most tourist bars, like bulldog cafe, the news etc. There's also the alto jazzcafe. Paradiso and Melkweg has lots of concerts and clubnights, and do not have a strict doorpolicy. Sugarfactory is a hipper club. Bars like Lux and Weber are well known pickup spots. Royalty is also a well known pickup place, but very often has a lot more men than women.

Notorious are places like bubbles, feest van joop and skihut, with bad music, white trash from outside of Amsterdam, and accesible women. (I like white trash girls.. I am not looking for subtle..). But very arbitrary doorpolicy, especially towards tourists.

Around Rembrandtplein you have places like studio 80. That one is the hippest club, doorpolicy is ok and it is a well known meatmarket, although many people come here for the good music (mostly electro and house). Club air is the other hip club, stricter doorpolicy, luxurious club, many hot women. Club rain attracts a slightly older crowd, with nice women, but often you'll find a lot more men than women there.

In the east of Amsterdam, you'll find places like canvas, this is a nice alternative place with a hip arty crowd and cute women and relaxed doorpolicy. Across the street you'll find club trouw which is now probably the hippest club in town, arbitrary doorpolicy (but I always get in, sometimes for free...), beautiful Berlin industrial like atmosphere, cool music, but it is rather dark.
