I think we can all agree that an intimate relationship is never 50/50, one partner may have more feelings than the other, putting them in a submissive position.
A lot of men want to have the dominance and assertiveness in a relationship because it’s “the role of a real man”. Generations ago, men literally fought for positions of power whether on a battlefield or for their own territory, which would also mean that they fought to not be in a submissive position.
Reasons as to why some men today want the dominant position in an intimate relationship stands on no foundation.
I’m not saying that to be worthy of having the power in a relationship you need to become a soldier but, if you have no purpose, nothing to fight for (could be a career, a social cause, whatever) what makes you worthy of having the power over another human?
