Jennifer and the girls were out walking and the weather decided to mix it up with some heavy rain. They had their coats etc, but walking in heavy rain isn’t much fun and we’re without cell phones here.
So I circled the neighbourhood in Dad’s car looking for them. Found them in about five minutes at a park, the girls semi-drenched and happy, Jennifer slunk back against the shelter of the small building by the park. She hates being cold. Just hates it. She was very pleased to see me.
Eldest Daughter: “I didn’t know we were in need of serious rescue”.
Me: “You weren’t”.
But there were no complaints from anyone about a warm car and a fast shuttle home.
In general rescuing women from their own folly isn’t a good idea, that can establish that your role is to be their personal safety net butler and encourage further folly, but rescuing them from random circumstance on your terms can earn a lot of points.
So anyway, rescue from some heavy rain by borrowed car isn’t as dramatic as Arnold Schwarzenegger growling “if you want to live follow me”, and cocking a pump action shotgun, but then who needs that sort of drama on vacation anyway.
