Started off like it was going to be a question, but then turned into advice... 🤔 Thoroughly confused by the point of your post. If you’re asking for help, the details make sense; victim puke is ok, but you need to have tangible questions at the end of your post that we can help with. If your giving advice, then you need to process a lot of these details on your own time, and not make me process it with you.

So your position is that reading the Bible, meditation and prayer makes you feeeeeeel saaaaad :( How do we come to know more about Jesus? By reading his Word. How do we become more like Jesus? By meditating on his Word which then produces in us obedience. How do we grow in relationship with Jesus? Through prayer and trying to speak to Him as He Speaks to us through His Word. All of this is done through the power of the Holy Spirit who gives us these desires, so there is no room for boasting.

Welcome to the sub. You need to get your reading up, big dog. Just reading a little bit of Scripture every now and then is not going to result in any spiritual growth. Go buy this book immediately: Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life by Donald S. Whitney. It’s a game changer and you’ll see results if you put into practice what that book teaches. As for your girl probs, getting jacked is going to be the best means for ease of conversing with women/creating attraction. Biggest thing you n…

Any christian with an ounce of discernment would be able to tell you are having sex outside of marriage based on your admitted 4 year relationship. Your caveat is gratuitous. Are you attending a biblical church? Because if you were, this would inevitably be called out. You are in sin. Going on 4 years. That’s quite a lot of time to believe one is “saved” and have only a parcel of regret about it. I.E. “getting married to assuage my guilt”. As Paul stated, speaking about people like you, your “co…

Dear diary, Today I made a Reddit post about my day. I’m not gonna actually write in you about my day at chipotle, diary; because I want people to pat me on the back for how cool I am. Oh diary, I can not wait until I get all those red upvotes. People will think I’m such a stud and a true Alpha male. Bye for now, diary. I love you.

I’m angry over this post because I don’t fully understand what the heck you’re talking about. My desire is for you to slow down and take more time breaking down the concepts you have presented, with a longer and more thought out essay. Example: “The normative claim is the zero level of your desire and will.“ Seems intriguing, but it’s lost on me. If you bring these foreign concepts before me and want me to care/implement them in my own life, then the burden is upon you to actually explain your i…

I’m a teacher by trade. Love the tool belt analogy. That’s the exact analogy I try to implement in the classroom, which gains me lots of dedication from kiddos. The default is to be positive and upbeat; cocky and funny; agree and amplify, etc…but sometimes a harsh rebuke is what is needed. All these factors(tools) combined, garners love and respect(builds me a great house). It makes my teaching much smoother, because I am disregarded way less(way less maintenance on the house). Paul and Timothy …

You’re viewing attraction through the myopic lens of how men see women. Yes, physical features play a role in how women judge men, but there are far more factors involved than how we judge women. Think about the dynamic between Saul and David. Saul was literally the 10 you just described in your post, but women judged these two men, not by physical features, but by their achievements on the battlefield: “When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out f…

and I realise how disgusting this must be for straight men to read. I apologise You are most welcome here. Humility is the first step in any christian‘s spiritual journey; as Christ points out in one of his first public teachings, “blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Your post has a healthy dose of this very attitude in which Christ commends. Which is to say, that it seems like you’re already making strides to become the kind of man that Christ desires you to be…

What is your view on (insert godly behavior) with the rise of (insert sinful behavior)? Why are you looking to the world as your compass for one of life’s biggest decisions? Christ followers are a people set apart to model Christ to the world. One of the chief displays of that model is a biblical marriage. How are you meant to lead others to Christ(which is one of your chief purposes while living on earth), while simultaneously living out a sinful and faulty model, namely, cohabitation? Think of…

The response to this post is overwhelmingly negative, which it seems that you understand. However, instead of humbly accepting that you have erred and removing it, you proceed to call users spineless. It shows that you don’t even believe what you wrote because instead of engaging in debate, you attack and excuse. Not surprising though, on account of your bizarre post, which would be difficult to defend.

When did OP say he had sex with this woman?
/r/RPChristians03/10/21 02:15 PM
3

I would take a step back and really assess if this woman would be an asset or a liability to me in marriage. In order to do that though, you’ll need to strategize and pray about the mission that God wants you to fulfill while you’re here on earth. Then you’ll need to discern if she fits into that equation. Again, if being a virgin is a deal breaker for you(which is totally valid), then end the relationship and head into monk mode. You’ll easily be able to find a young, hot virgin with those stat…
/r/RPChristians03/10/21 01:53 PM

Disagree. Some men want a virgin and view that as crucial to a marital relationship. You should read up on Deep’s statistics on virgins vs. non-virgins in marriage. I understand your sentiments on AWALT but there is a difference when it comes to notch-count amongst women.

She said on the first date that we have to wait until marriage to have sex or even kiss?? and you should have responded by agreeing and amplifying: “I don’t think we should even be making eye contact at least until the third date.” Instead you got all caught up in her frame, because you don’t have one. No sex before marriage is an obvious tenet of every Christian‘s frame, and yet you seem to be missing this one. Also, watch what girls do, not what they say: However since then we have kissed. As …

Happy to hear it. You’re already on the right path then, in terms of the aim that this sub is trying to produce in men that gather here. I would still recommend you give it a read. Many times when we go to church, we are not there to learn new things, but to be reminded of things we already know to be a verity of Scripture. I would argue the same is true for that post in reminding us the importance of lifting and how that correlates to RP. After that start with the 100s series.

All of Scripture testifies to the identity of Christ. Therefore, Scripture is the Word of God. That’s not to say the Jesus is literally 66 books, but rather Christ is the Living Word. He is the embodiment and fulfillment of all that Scripture speaks of. So when I say that the Word of God holds the power to call sinners to repentance, I’m speaking of that fact that when Scripture is revealed to a man or woman, the very identity of Christ is revealed, which is whom we must believe in to be saved. …

Disagreed on your first point. Girls do not speak plainly lol. Secondly, “she’s not the girl for you” excuses any form of self-improvement that this guy instinctively felt like he needs from this interaction. He wasn’t the guy for her because he is unattractive. It’s cold, I know, but Hypergamy is ruthless.

Women speak covertly. She said he was kind, gentle and curious, but she sure as heck meant something completely different. When a girl let’s you down in a positive way, you need to read between the lines. There is something more negative at play. So the instinct he got of feeling like he needs to “toughen up” is completely on point because the girl essentially called him a wimp.

I think Paul would very much agree with you. “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation” 2 Corinthians 7:10
/r/RPChristians30/11/20 05:11 AM

Repentance does not mean to change one’s life as a result of having a complete change of thought. Rather, the change in life is a bi-product of genuine repentance(a complete change in thought). This is why John tells his listeners to bear fruit in keeping with repentance. In other words, once you’ve had the experience of repentance, the change in life should be a natural outflow of that. I know it sounds like semantics, but it is a very important distinction because it really turns into a works …

Also, the text you quoted is from the old testament. That word is also mistranslated from the hebrew word: teshuvah. Teshuvah literally means "to return". How the Hebrew word for repentance connects to New testament word for repentance involves more study on my part, but I'm sure it will be enriching and transforming.
/r/RPChristians30/11/20 02:34 AM
2

Thank you. I've studied this subject quite a bit. Again, I think that misunderstanding, which you've rightly pointed out, comes from the mistranslation of repentance. An understandable mistake, since the mistranslation of metanoia has crept its way into the Church's psyche from an early age.(Oh that the Church would heed the call of the reformation: "Ad Fontes!") And like you said, the misunderstanding of a word leads people to a misunderstanding of the gospel as a whole. If we take a look at th…

Close, but not quite. A lot of people have a wrong idea of repentance because it's translated flat out wrong from Greek to English. The word "repentance" comes from the Latin-Vulgate translation, which means to "do penance": voluntary self-punishment inflicted as an outward expression for having done wrong. Unfortunately the men who translated this word from the greek, also translated their theology into the word, because that is nowhere near the original meaning in greek. That word is metanoia.…

I think an important question to ask is, “Do I need a wife at this stage in my mission?” If the answer is yes, then take the proper measures/time in prayer, to see that come to fruition. If the answer is no, then continue working on your mission until the point where a wife would be necessary. This doesn’t mean to close off all women in your life if you answered no to this question. But it should be a rather low priority, because again, you are not at a point in life where having a wife would be…

Samuel A. Meier has the most comprehensive definition of meekness I've come across. It echoes your point. Here it is: "Late twentieth-century Western culture does not hold meekness to be a virtue, in contrast to the ancient Near East and the Greco-Roman world, which placed a high premium on it. This dramatic shift in values is problematic for contemporary biblical translation. I'm aware of ASD. Like you said, I think that concept is only really applicable to an imminent sexual encounter. Not sure why a girl would need plausible deniability when getting asked out on a normal date. In essence, you're saying she actually did want to go on a date with me, but didn't want to seem like a slut because she felt like I wanted to have sex on the first date, so she gave the excuse of a boyfriend, but secretly she was hoping I would persist. I then failed to realize this, and in …

Nope, that's not a TRP mindset and this is where you rejected yourself. TRP makes the distinction between ASD and a hard no, which are different. I would call he IHAB rejection more of an example of ASD, especially because she was flirting with you. I guess I'm still a little confused how I rejected myself, when she said "I have a boyfriend". Upon acquiring that information, I ceased initiation because there was a clear sign put up by her saying, "I'm not going out with you". Mind bearing this d…

Agreed! But just to simplify things down, at the end of the day it's a no, which I place in the rejection category.

it's so much harder to legitimately convert a girl and then start to lead her in her faith, than to just start leading a girl in her faith (which is hard enough in itself). Agreed. This "hard mode on hard mode" hasn't deterred me, but rather stirred me on to keep this mindset. I've had some awesome opportunities in presenting the gospel, where I would not have been able to if I did not have this personal framework(which is a bit more nuanced than Oz's post). Just an example: I went on a date wit…

Biggest piece of advice I can give you is the exact same as Nike's motto: "Just Do It". After spending a few months in the gym(heck, even a couple weeks), you'll get a better idea of the direction you want to head in. Also, chart your progress in the notes section of your phone! It involves dicernment on a case by case basis in terms vocalizing boundries for disrespect. On the one hand we see Jesus flipping money tables and calling out the Pharisees for their malicious hypocrisy. On the other, when he is standing trial before the Sanhedrin, we don't see him calling out, "WhY ArEn'T YoU rEsPeCtInG mE??" But rather, "He kept silent and did not answer."

All of Scripture is God inspired and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. I disagree that entering into a conversation with false premises is entering into their frame. What would you say to Jesus, who constantly engaged with those who were trying to trap him with their world view i.e. the saduucees and their question of the resurrection. An interesting side note: The idea of wisdom in the book of Proverbs is personified as a woman. Not making any claims here, but perhaps there is a deeper, spiritual truth behind that fact. Edit: Giving this some more thought... Solomon is writing to his son, whom we can presume is a virile, young man, about to embark on the journey of life. As men, we all know at that stage of life, women list high on our priorities. Recognizing this, Solomon says to his son, "So, it's women you desire? Well, le…

All throughout the OT, God talks about how Israel has been an adulterous nation (esp. Hosea), and when that comes up, Israel is always becoming best buds (and then some) with the surrounding nations, Egypt being the first one. They start relying on their newfound friends instead of God. This is what is meant when Jesus says they are an adulterous nation. I totally agree here. I would NEVER FaceTime or call a coworker about non work related things outside of work hours. Wow! What a statement! Not only is this prideful, and representative of feminine solipsistic logic. It also does an amazing job of flying in the face of one of RP's strongest tenets: AWALT. You made the specific claim that John wrote "he carried it all by himself". Not sure where it says that. Report 2: Continuous-metanoia went to the store with his son and bought pineapples. Both reports are true. Well to be fair to the defintion, when you bring up the subject of SMV, you are then talking about all women in said marketplace, not just your wife. Yes, but that also means you will live a life of celibacy. Ideally, you should be living a mission that attracts the interest of women who will be more than willing to be your helper. :) If you can't control your desire of having sex with one of those aforementioned women, then marry! If you can, then hire an assistant.
/r/askRPC06/04/20 12:59 AM

Just in my own humble opinion, a man who is married(especially to an HB) has a high SMV because it shows his pre-selection. More importantly, if he is managing his household well(enthusiastic wife and submissive children) it raises his usefulness in the kingdom of God, as that is a qualification that Paul submits for an elder. In other words, a successful marriage means you have your head on straight and can handle your mission with refined skill.

u/Red-Curious touches on this topic in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/RPChristians/comments/fdaaai/the_wife_who_truly_loves_you/ Here is a snippet that has stayed with me in terms of frame: This is not "living in God's frame" (though at times it is easier to explain things in those terms). I agree 100% with u/Rifleshoot. God is constantly calling His people to make a black and white choice, and that choice doesn't have any grey areas (a little leaven leavens the whole lump). When Adonai gives the law to His people, the essential covenant is this: "You have two options: death or life...so choose life!" That same binary option is given in the new covenant: Repent and believe and receive eternal life or die in your sins and face eternal punishment...so choose to believe!" I think you…

This is a pretty big red flag, OP. Before you go seeking out how to be in a healthy relationship with a girl, you need to be in a healthy relationship with Christ. Perhaps I should take my foot off the gas pedal a little. I can see where you're coming from and I think the argument for the use of the Mosaic law is a bit more nuanced than what I wrote. To clarify, when I say that we use the Mosaic law for sanctification, I mean that it is the Spirit who sanctifies us and the moral principles embodied in the Mosaic law is the goal of a Spirit-directed life. Hence why 9 of the 10 commandments have been carried over and are part of the law of the Spirit of life…

Biblically, Christians are not to follow God using Mosaic law or the old covenant since it is not 100% a work based Faith. I think you might be viewing the purpose of the Mosaic law incorrectly. The law was never meant to be used as a "work based faith" in the Old Covenant Scriptures. -- Incidentally, that's exactly how the Pharisees viewed the law, ergo Jesus corrected their thinking. The law is a tool that can be used to point us towards Messiah. A measuring stick if you will. "How am I doing …
