I think it's a bit counterintuitive to say that their futures are not bright. They might be craving for the attention, but some of them may also be career-oriented and ambitious people. And I agree that at least I am not very different from them - I enjoy validation at work, hobbies and also from the ladies.

That's not the point of the post, though. The point is that regardless of social background, we rate people in a similar, quite superficial manner. Of course this particular environment rules out things such as wealth, but for hooking up even that is quite irrelevant as long as you are muscular and got game. Being tall will also give a huge advantage.

This is pretty much how it is. You promise yourself to change, you REALLY believe in it, but then you slowly go back to your old vices. I am still fighting two particular addictions, and they have been with me a loooong time. I will probably never get rid of either, but I have learned to live with them so that they don't affect my life drastically.

Yeah, all the signs are there. I will enjoy this situation as long as it last, but I have no intention to stick around and start a relationship with her (or with anyone).

I agree with you and I don't like using the term either but she sure seemed like one during that weekend. She said that she feels like one and even wanted me to call her that.

We have met before and it was not just for drinks, we did some hobby-related activities, too. But you are right, it was obvious. And reading this forum has helped me to notice these things and be more active with my efforts. I really was clueless before.

I dance several styles, here's a nice summary of the most common couples dances: Tango Argentino You don't need to be fit. Can you walk? You can dance tango. Of course, being fit is not a bad thing. You don't have to be such rhythmic person with tango. It is not because it has an easy rhythm (compared with Salsa and Lindy for example), it is actually most of the time quite hard to follow if you are no use to. But at the same time, is usually more subtle, so if you miss it, is not so noticeable. …

Thank you for the great feedback and suggestions. You are probably right about the "philosopher type" not appealing to women, and I'm already working on this. I actually used to be very boisterous person, and still am when I'm partying with the right "crew". When I'm with them I naturally take the role of an alpha, keep everybody talking and don't give a shit about anything. But I can't do this in new situations or when I'm sober. So now I have to practice being in all kinds of social situations…

I used to be, but not anymore. Meditation, journaling and negative visualization helps me keep my emotions in control. As I still have emotions and I have to deal with them somehow, I put them in my writing and in my journal.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
