I'm not saying it to justify her actions if she did lie. I'm saying it to dismiss her reaction on social media as compelling evidence that she's lying.
/r/MensRights07/05/20 08:49 PM
1

But an innocent person would, on mere accusation?
/r/MensRights07/05/20 08:35 PM
2

If the accused is found not guilty, that is all the proof necessary for the accuser to be found as breaking the law. No it isn't though. Not legally, nor logically. Not guilty doesn't mean you've been proven to be innocent, it means they've failed to prove that you're guilty. Any charges associated to a false accusation are always tried separately, you have no idea what you're talking about.
/r/MensRights07/05/20 08:19 PM

I'm arguing for equality, not for female supremacy. Making assumptions about a female accuser is no better than making assumptions about an accused male.
/r/MensRights07/05/20 08:08 PM
1

Yes it is illegal, and it should be investigated. And if it goes to court she will be assumed innocent until proven otherwise, as she should be.
/r/MensRights07/05/20 07:53 PM
1

So why is it the case that finding him not guilty wouldn't mean conviction for her? Why would she need to be separately tried for perjury/libel/etc?
/r/MensRights07/05/20 07:12 PM
-2

The vast majority of accusations are false. I'm simply playing the odds. If the statistics went the other way, would you support the presumption that the guy did rape her? how do you know with such certainty that this accusation is True? Because an imgur pic told you so? How does that hold weight? I don't, and it doesn't. I haven't said anything at all to support the accusation, only condemned the presumption that the girl is lying. The assumption of innocence works both ways.
/r/MensRights07/05/20 06:17 PM
1

And I'm here arguing for the presumption of the accuser's innocence of lying. Assuming innocence does not mean believing the crime didn't happen, it just means that the crime will be believed to have not happened unless proven otherwise. But failure to prove that is not in itself proof that the accuser was lying. In a court, if he was found not guilty of rape, she would not automatically be convicted for a false accusation. If that's suspected then she may stand trial for that herself, and then …
/r/MensRights07/05/20 06:00 PM

Yeah that is inappropriate, but if he did actually rape her it's understandable. She's a kid, her saying something dumb on social media doesn't convince me of anything.
/r/MensRights07/05/20 05:47 PM

I didn't?
/r/MensRights07/05/20 05:37 PM

And how do you know with such certainty that this accusation is false? Because an imgur pic told you so? How does that hold more weight than the original instagram story accusation?
/r/MensRights07/05/20 04:27 PM

Yeah because in rape allegations men are considered guilty until proven innocent and burden of proof is on men. And that is wrong. It is wrong to do the same thing to women. You can't complain about something while doing it yourself. That isn't equality.
/r/MensRights07/05/20 03:55 PM
1

No, that is not what I said. I did not say that he should be assumed guilty. I said that she should not be assumed to be lying. I'm opposed to any assumption of guilt. This sub often complains about it being done to men, but is more than happy to do it to women.
/r/MensRights07/05/20 03:44 PM

I defend both the accused being assumed to be guilty, and the accused being assumed to be lying. Quite often actually, at least on reddit. I've definitely spent more time arguing in defence of men than of women, when I felt that they were being prematurely assumed to be guilty. But I really support men's rights, and used to really like /r/MensRights, and it's pained me to see the sub's audience gradually swell with misogynistic mgtow-overflow assholes like you. People like you are exactly what t…

I don't look up to white knights at all, otherwise I wouldn't be here. I support men's rights, and men's rights is about equality, not just shitting on women. Bigoted, self-minded people like you are exactly what fucked up feminism. Side note. TMM stands for the mgtow monk. Okay? Is that supposed to impress me? Moaning about women in a men's rights sub isn't very monkish.

/r/MensRights07/05/20 02:12 PM

If this is a recorded statement, then it should be used in the court. What statement? The only things the girl is claimed to have said are that he raped her but she can't prove it, and that if he couldn't handle the pressure of the accusation that was his own fault. What crime do you think is proved by this? There is nothing at all in this post that can be used to determine whether or not he raped that girl.
/r/MensRights07/05/20 01:32 PM

I dont think she hated him, she just wanted attention and is a narcissist. Yes that's right. Calling him a rapist without proof is bad. But calling her a liar without proof is good.

That weak kick to the ribs doesn't necessitate a powerful knee to the face, he'd already got her back plenty. Do you know what a knee to the face can lead to? The cornered kid did strike back big time, and I think he did enough damage that the pair will have learned as much as they could have from the exchange.
/r/PussyPassDenied29/04/20 12:17 PM

A broken nose isn't really maimed for life but yeah, the knee was unnecessary and that commenter looking for blood is a bit much. These are clearly kids, hopefully they learned their lesson that day.

Championing women's rights isn't a problem when dealing with countries where women are seriously oppressed. Feminism in the West at this point is pretty awful, but only because it has passed the point of demanding equality. Fighting for equality is not a problem.

Which text exactly IMPLIES it? Copy and paste it here so that we have the same foundation of the core problem text. The entirety of the original comment I replied to. I'm on my phone, finding the comment is too much effort, and you're not worth it. If I ever do convince you that you're wrong you've proven that you won't admit it anyway, so why bother. This is your comment just after I made mine. Where do you ask to clarify? That quote of mine which you keep referencing, "so it's always the fault…

Correct, you did not say I said so, you implied so... And you did not say that it was her fault, but I felt that what you said implied that you felt that way. That's why I asked you to clarify. As I've already explained. Why can you not copy and paste my words. Lol you realise you were wrong about the comment. Pathetic...to use your logic :) That's not my logic. Did you really not get why I said that was pathetic? It's because you won't admit that you were wrong about it. You're hot on the topic…

Why don't you copy and paste the part where I said that you said it's their fault? Lol you realise you were wrong about the ad hominem so suddenly "it's a side issue". Pathetic.

The decision to distribute food to women was not a feminist action. It was made by the World Food Programme. The morality of the decision seems straight up wrong, but that doesn't mean it's the fault of feminists.

I've already explained my claim and why it does not rely on what you're asking for, and you just asked it again. I don't care enough on that point to keep spoon feeding you until you get it. I'm much more interested in which of the 4 ad hominems in that image you linked you feel I committed. But you interestingly stayed quiet on that question. Could it be that you actually tried to properly read one of the coolguides you rely on to be a Top Tier Debater, and realised that none of them apply to m…

To prove that your "thinking" was not a strawman. Copy and paste where I said or CLEARLY implied that it is their FAULT. Did you not read what I said at all? Or did you just not understand it? I'm not going to repeat myself, you clearly aren't worth the time. Calling someone names based on what they said is one of the the simplest forms of an adhom There's 4 types described in that image, which do you think I did?
/r/MensRights25/04/20 08:33 AM

Lol did you just learn the fallacies or something? Because damn you're keen to apply them. Those questions aren't a strawman. I'm asking because those seem to be the logical conclusion of what you're saying, but I think it's unlikely that you really believe that. Certainly, you'd avoid admitting so plainly that you feel that way. And, avoiding the word "fault" doesn't mean that it wasn't the meaning of your words anyway. But again, I was asking if you think that, not saying that you said it. Tha…

I'd also be interested to know how they proved the abuse, I'd that her word is enough to do that. I said nothing to defend her though. I'm criticising the user's toxic and unempathetic viewpoint towards abuse victims in general, which was revealed in their comment.
/r/MensRights24/04/20 07:17 PM
-1

I really hate that women can get away with serious crimes by crying abuse. But in cases of actual abuse I do understand leniency. That said, I was only commenting to respond to your suggestion that it's simple to walk away from an abusive relationship. As to this case, the simple fact that he was in a wheelchair does not mean that the situation is less serious. Not all abuse relies on physical intimidation. Most men are physically superior to their female partners, but still can be abused by the…

So it's always the fault of the abused for not leaving? And nobody in an abusive relationship has ever been controlled or physically restricted from leaving? It is not always as simple as just walking out. Have you ever been anywhere near an abusive relationship? If your partner has full control of your social circle, your finances, and also terrifies you physically, leaving is not an easy thing to do. Your comment is just so incredibly ignorant and unempathetic. You're a straight up piece of sh…

Was there no evidence for his abuse? How do you know that?
/r/MensRights24/04/20 08:34 AM

Yes, surely it's more hard to leave a supposedly abusive man who can't walk than to kill him as he lay in bed. For a lot of people in abusive relationships, yes it absolutely is. Many can't even imagine life without their abuser, or will live in fear of retaliation if they do leave. We don't know the specifics of this case, but here you are falling over yourself to defend the man and criticise the woman. If we suppose that he really was incredibly abusive towards her, how would you feel about he…

Yep pretty much. That's the point I was trying to make; it's only homophobic if his sexual preference is the reason he gives you the creeps. But this clip isn't creepy because he's gay, it's creepy because of how he's acting.
/r/MensRights22/04/20 02:29 PM

Does he give you the creeps because he's gay?
/r/MensRights22/04/20 07:20 AM
1

Why is that evil though? They can't shape their accusation around the evidence, since their accusation is given before they receive the evidence. It can change what they say in court, but that's not as much of a problem.
/r/MensRights30/10/19 02:20 PM
1

Of course they get that information before it goes to court. Before it goes to court yes, before it's going to court (what I said), no. You cannot get a court date, and so cannot be affected by this law, until an accusation has been made against you. The prosecution does not have to provide the judge or a jury a recollection of the stories an accuser went through before they finally found one that didn't made them commit perjury. Of course they do. If they've filed differing police reports, then…
/r/MensRights30/10/19 01:43 PM
1

But they don't get access to that information until it's going to court, and for it to go to court they'd have to have given a statement about what happened. All that this does is to make them change their story before court rather than in court, but both are pretty terrible for their case.

Do you understand what sincerity is?
/r/MensRights30/10/19 10:51 AM

Are you able to actually defend your point of view, or will you just dismiss any criticisms of it? The latter, then?
/r/MensRights30/10/19 10:32 AM
1

What you said: There is a simple solution .. Don't go. What you claim you meant: All men should avoid this club. Is it really a simple solution, to convince all men that this is bullshit worth not going to the club for? Or is it that you've changed what you're saying after having it pointed out that your initial comment was dumb?
/r/MensRights30/10/19 10:21 AM
2

You're suggesting that OP avoid the club, which will do exactly nothing. What's the point in /r/MensRights if we're not trying to actually make a difference? I'm perfectly calm, just pointing out a stupid comment. Try not to take it too personally, we all say stupid things every now and then, you just have to try being big enough to realise that.
/r/MensRights30/10/19 09:59 AM
9

What's wrong with it? You're suggesting that the solution to inequality is to avoid it. If everyone had that attitude, just how equal do you think the world would be? Are you able to actually defend your point of view, or will you just dismiss any criticisms of it?
/r/MensRights30/10/19 09:47 AM
31

That's like saying that the solution to biased divorce laws is to not get married, or that the solution to men having fewer opportunities in tech is to not get a job in tech... Those aren't solutions at all, they're just ways of avoiding the problem for yourself.
/r/MensRights30/10/19 08:55 AM
1

Oh... But why would that be different? It seems to me that it makes sense to treat them the same.
/r/MensRights29/10/19 07:25 PM
12

I mean, that makes sense to me. Being able to access all evidence that's going to be used against you gives you a chance to formulate your response. Otherwise misleading evidence could be easily abused by the prosecution, without the defence getting a fair chance to refute it. I'm not sure that's a feminist thing, it's a common rule that's been around for a very long time.
/r/MensRights29/10/19 02:31 PM

Really? It's a fan reaching up and touching a performer's leg on stage... It's trashy but not really a big deal.
/r/MensRights27/10/19 09:15 PM

Are you smart enough to explain the point that that commenter was making?
/r/MensRights18/10/19 04:17 PM

That's the point of the post, not of the comment.
/r/MensRights18/10/19 08:09 AM
1

Making a drunk decision is one thing, but have you never seen someone so out of it they can't even speak, while remaining conscious? I'm used to being heavily downvoted in this sub for going against the women=bad narrative, don't worry. The only annoying thing about it is that it means I need to wait 10 minutes between leaving replies.
/r/MensRights18/10/19 06:40 AM
1

Only if you take "hook up" to imply that they gave meaningful consent. But obviously not everyone uses the term that way, hence the poster. It's possible to get drunk with someone and get drunker than they are. The fact that you're drinking together doesn't mean they can't rape you.
/r/MensRights18/10/19 06:30 AM
-2

But the point is wrong, since you can be too drunk to consent, but drink-driving should be chargeable. The only problem with the post is that it's treating men and women differently, not that there's something wrong with the idea that if you have sex with someone who's too drunk it's rape.
/r/MensRights18/10/19 06:19 AM
-11

I'm not replying to the post though am I? I'm replying to the comment. I don't understand what that commenter's point is if not that you can't be too drunk to consent. This should be obvious to most people, but here we are.
/r/MensRights17/10/19 11:22 PM
-28

So you think that so long as someone is conscious, they can't be too drunk to consent?
/r/MensRights17/10/19 08:34 PM
-8

What else was that comment saying?
/r/MensRights17/10/19 08:32 PM
-17

What point are you trying to make? Because I'm pretty sure you've missed mine.
/r/MensRights17/10/19 08:32 PM
-49

No, that's the point being made by the post, not the comment. The comment doesn't bring gender into it at all, just brings up an example where you can't be too drunk to be found legally in control of your actions.
/r/MensRights17/10/19 08:31 PM
-75

Are you trying to argue that you can't be too drunk to consent to sex...?
/r/MensRights17/10/19 07:40 PM

Does that comment not make you think that that guy dislikes women?
/r/MensRights25/09/19 08:18 PM
1

100% out of a pretty sizeable random sample at least points to a very high percentage in their culture. Criticising every single one of the women you know like that is so obviously sexist. How are you even defending that? Do you come to this sub just to moan about women?
/r/MensRights25/09/19 07:53 PM
0

Than never hiring men? No it isn't. How would it possibly be worse?
/r/MensRights25/09/19 07:21 PM
0

If you think that the policy was to only hire women for a period of 6 months then you misunderstood it. The 6 months is from when each job is first posted. What you're saying would only be true if all jobs are posted at the same time. But either way, you seem to have forgotten my original claim. Which is that they would never say one, despite saying the other. Even if the caveat were meaningless in practice, I posit that they wouldn't say it without the caveat.
/r/MensRights25/09/19 04:03 PM
0

What? I'm a man and am a huge supporter of men's rights. If you think that being opposed to misogyny means I'm not an MRA then you are the problem, not me.
/r/MensRights25/09/19 02:35 PM

Thank you for your kind words, but you have completely missed my point. I do not condone either policy, I simply argued that the two are different, which they quite obviously are.
/r/MensRights25/09/19 02:16 PM
1

Is that what I said? Did I say anything at all condoning the policy? I was objectively comparing two situations. In the original thread I actually said repeatedly that I (obviously) don't support the policy. Thanks for weighing in but you really have no idea what you're talking about.
/r/MensRights25/09/19 01:53 PM

No, I am the one who is saying they are not the same. You are the one who is saying that they are the same. Have you really switched sides in this argument? You've got to be a troll, right? Latest post isn't about this sub. One post. Was that seriously the basis for your claim that they mostly link unrelated subreddits? They used to. It was much more busy. Then their mod team engaged in doxxing against someone because he posted here. They called his work, filed a false rape complaint against him. It got nasty. The admins removed some of them. Checking the front page of the sub, it's actually mainly stuff from /r/MensRights, contrary to your claim. People just don't post there much. You can find dead subs on all sorts of topics, that doesn't mean that nobody is interested in the topic anymore, just that the sub is dead. They aren't "struggling to find anything here", they just aren't looking.

I have to say on a purely anecdotal personal level that without a doubt the women that I know just cannot stop causing trouble. So this wasn't talking about every woman that you know?

Wow well if that subreddit's dead then this sub must be good right...? Solid reasoning.

From you, who still doesn't understand that there's a difference between saying "job postings will only be open to women for the first 6 months" and saying "job postings will only be open to women". Congratulations, you tiptoed around saying anything too sweeping. You couldn't possibly be sexist, you're only insulting 99% of women! /s Anyway, I made clear that that part of my answer was my personal experience and was anecdotal. In your anecdotal experience, every woman is a trouble maker. Right, because you couldn't possibly be the problem there. Because that guy has known hundreds of women, and thinks they are all bad people. Do you seriously not think that that's obviously indicative that they're either a colossal asshole themselves or are viewing women in a biased way? Sure, they aren't saying that every single woman on earth is a bad person. Give yourself a pat on the back for pointing out that fact. But the implication of what they're saying is that >99% of women are bad people. Again, do you really believe that that commenter isn't…

"I've never met any nice women, but I don't deduce that all women are terrible" <-- this statement is equivalent but would clearly only be said by a sexist person. Some 50% of the people you meet are women, if you think that they're all bad people then the problem is with you.

Yeah, because if you throw that canned phrase in then you can't possibly be a sexist! the women that I know just cannot stop causing trouble. This is an absolute statement. You really believe that every woman that guy knows is a bad person? Or maybe he's just finding problems because he's looking for them, due to the sexism.
/r/MensRights25/09/19 08:39 AM
-34

Because sexist idiots completely undermine the Men's Rights movement. There's a difference between acknowledging that in general women display those behaviours more often than men, and saying that all women do it.
/r/MensRights25/09/19 08:26 AM

No, they're just saying that every woman they know does it. Because that's such a hugely different statement... /s

without a doubt the women that I know just cannot stop causing trouble. It is unbelievable, and it has taken me decades to realise the extent of the problem. They chiefly do this by causing divisions, telling lies, forming cliques, keeping secrets, and spreading gossip. Social media has magnified the problem by an almost infinite amount. Lol, "not a woman hater", okay. It just happens that every single woman in your life is a "trouble maker"... And hey, women-only offices are fucked so that prov…

Ah you're quite right, you deftly moved the goalposts to avoid saying that. Your "yes it does" does obviously claim that, but you didn't actually say the words, so go you. Do you seriously believe that they'd support a policy of only hiring women? Or, of taking all money off men to redistribute to women? Because those would be "positive discrimination", but they obviously would not support it.

No it doesn't. Not at all. It means they aren't disadvantaged in this one hiring decision (men are instead), but they could still be disadvantaged in literally every other way available. Positive discrimination is always negative discrimination. I agree. Women are not a disadvantaged group in any sense of the word. I agree. Well, that sort of misses the point of positive discrimination laws like this one. It's legal when it's being done to bring up a disadvantaged group. I still take issue with any "positive discrimination", but your criticism of it appears to be based in a misunderstanding.

The article is about the uptick in female suicides in relation to male suicides though. That's what the story is. Girls starting to use more deadly methods to attempt suicide is worth reporting on, both from a journalistic point of view and in terms of being a story which will get clicks. Writing an article about one gender's side of an issue isn't a problem. It would only be a problem if the work to resolve that issue isn't applied fairly. Or if the media outlet is reporting on the two sides in…
/r/MensRights17/09/19 12:08 PM

A fair point, it's not possible to take gender-influenced reporting rates into full account in the statistics. The full report (pdf download) does discuss some of those issues with these statistics though. And I know that there's programs in place at least in the UK to significantly reduce any bias from doctors in diagnosing depression. Either way though, OP was quoting from an article, where it isn't surprising that they would just report the statistic the way that they did.
/r/MensRights17/09/19 11:59 AM

You asked for help for 7 years solid? What does that mean? Who were you asking? What were you expecting to get that you didn't get? That does sound like a bad crisis line, though I don't imagine that they said it quite the way that you're claiming. One bad anecdote doesn't change my view though.
/r/MensRights17/09/19 11:53 AM

And it's still inappropriate both for the conversation and for men's rights discussions. Joking about how men are better than women is still not good.
/r/MensRights17/09/19 11:51 AM

What is that view based on? Who are you imagining a man asking for help for suicidal thoughts, who then turns around and bullies them? Because as a man who's been suicidal and have shared my feelings with family/friends/professionals, that wasn't my experience at all.
/r/MensRights17/09/19 11:50 AM

This comment is so incredibly misinformed. Only a tiny percentage of people who experience depression attempt suicide. All of those men who don't attempt suicide, do you contend that they aren't ACTUALLY depressed? They're just unhappy? Since if you don't attempt suicide, you can't be experiencing ACTUAL depression right? Wrong, that isn't what depression is. Do you actually have any basis at all for your opinion other than the suicide rate? Because I swear, some people just see one statistic th…

It just makes the sub look so much worse, like we're a bunch of anti-science misogynists.
/r/MensRights17/09/19 10:45 AM

That doesn't mean that women are more likely to display conduct disorders or aggressive behaviours than men though. Domestic violence is just one specific type of aggressive behaviour.

Both men and women will receive help if they ask for it, but men are much less likely to ask for it.
/r/MensRights17/09/19 10:42 AM

More girls act on suicidal feelings, but I've never seen a source saying that they're more likely to act on suicidal feelings. Given that more women experience suicidality, it shouldn't be assumed that they're more likely to attempt suicide just because they make up more of the total attempts.
/r/MensRights17/09/19 10:41 AM
11

Smh why do people in this sub feel the need to insist at every opportunity that men are better than women? That misogynistic bullshit isn't at all what this sub is meant to be about, and is deeply inappropriate when talking about suicide rates.
/r/MensRights17/09/19 10:39 AM
1

Why do you say it's not a conduct violation? Are you just talking about in a workplace? "Aggressive behaviours" are pretty well defined, and so can be measured. "Assertiveness" is much more loose, and isn't necessarily a bad thing. Statistics aren't sexist.

In England, women are more likely than men to have a common mental health problem and are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with anxiety disorders. https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/statistics/mental-health-statistics-men-and-women The pdf to download on this page has a lot more stats which support the claim in OP's picture.

It isn't, just "positive" isn't being used how you're interpreting it. They aren't saying that it's good discrimination, just that it's giving better treatment to a group in a discriminatory manner. This is positive discrimination towards women, which also has a flip side which is negative discrimination towards everyone else. People do herald this as a good thing, but when they say "positive discrimination" they don't mean "discrimination which is good".

You don't really have to deny what you're looking at though. You just ignore it and call them what they want to be called. That's just run-of-the-mill transphobia dude. trans people are their birth gender If you're going to harp on about reality then please at least be aware of the reality that gender and sex are not the same thing. Would it be ok for a man to grab a woman and threaten her? No. Why is it ok for him to do it then? It isn't. But it also isn't a serious threat. Do you really think she deserves to have charges pressed against her for saying that? What do you think I misunderstand, though? Just the reason for posting it to the sub? Because I understand the reasoning; stuff gets posted for similar reasoning all the time. The loose, indirect connection to men's rights isn't enough to convince me that that's the re…

Do you think that she should have charges pressed against her for it?
/r/MensRights20/11/18 04:35 PM

I'd think it was very inappropriate, enough to get them kicked off the show. But not enough for me to be asking for their arrest. Shapiro was sat there insulting her and she replied saying he'd be leaving in an ambulance... He isn't a victim.

So you have right of way, but can't pull out in front of approaching cars. What if you both approach the roundabout at a similar time?

That doesn't really make it better though. Do they have the right of way or not? Where do you draw the line for "due regard" ?
/r/PussyPassDenied20/11/18 01:16 PM

Seems dumb to me to give anybody permanent right of way on a roundabout. What if there's two lorries approaching at the same time? And it seems like it would just breed complacency if drivers are used to just always having right of way.

Do you really think that she should have been arrested for this? Saying that he'd leave there in an ambulance is inappropriate but wasn't really much of a serious threat. She was being poked and she responded. Either way, it certainly isn't battery. Do you know what battery is? Touching you isn't automatically battery. The contact has to be harmful or offensive, and this is neither. Really, the only reason to post this here imo is if you're transphobic. There's no way you could agree with what S…

He said "we" because it's happening to men, that doesn't mean it's happening to all men. If a black person says "we're being targeted by police", do they mean literally every single black person? No. Do you really think that Alexis meant every single man?? No! Like men are always told here not to generalize all women. So what's the problem with pointing out the opposite with this guy? Generalising is bad, but this isn't generalising. Not hard to understand.

That isn't why I called you transphobic. I'm reasoning that you're transphobic because I don't believe that anybody who isn't would say the things you're saying. Why are you so insistent to point out that trans people aren't normal? Nobody thinks that it's normal; gender dysphoria is a mental illness, and I haven't said anything to at all deny that. That clearly isn't saying each person in my squad has been shot, stabbed, and set on fire. It means that we've collected had that happen, since it's happened to individuals in the team. Did you just refer to yourself as "we"...? You gave two examples, neither of which were that easy. The OP is evidence of how it isn't that easy. Do you think that the trans kid went through absolutely nothing as part of this story? Or do you think they had countless meetings with school administration, their counsellors, etc., all before even beginning the biological and legal parts of their transition. The original comment to which you replied: Identifying as the opposite gender isn't as simple as you seem to think. We went on to talk about how it is/isn't simply a matter of ticking a box on a form. So tell me, how does the guy in this specific story not having had surgery or hormone therapy yet relate to the current topic of discussion? A discussion in general terms, not at all tied to this story, is somehow ended by a statement on this specific child's point in transitioning. Right...

That has nothing to do with it though. I'm not going to explain how one completely separate facet of the same issue isn't relevant to this discussion. I mean this kid undoubtedly had to at the very least bring their parents in to meet the school administration, and to spend time with a school councillor. I don't think many high school boys would try all that just to get into the girl's locker room.
/r/MensRights15/11/18 04:03 PM
1

What have I said that indicates how complicated I think it is? All I'm saying is that it isn't just ticking a box on a form. How many high school kids do you think would go through the rigmarole or convincing the school and their parents that they're really trans, just to get into the girl's locker room? None.
/r/MensRights15/11/18 04:00 PM
1

No, it seems they haven't legally changed their gender. Rather they've just gone through the school, and there's zero chance that the school let them just tick a box on a form.
/r/MensRights15/11/18 03:58 PM
4

Look at the site I just linked. This story is in Florida, so they definitely haven't just declared it, and are in all likelihood still legally a girl. This is a matter of school policy allowing them to identify their gender beyond what the law allows them to. And if that's the case, then it definitely wasn't just a matter of filling in a form. This kid's parents will have gone in, and they'll have had to regularly spend time speaking to a school councillor, as a minimum.

Where do you think that's true? In a lot of places in the US they won't let you legally change your gender marker until you've also had surgery. No I'm talking about stuff like boob jobs, liposuction, face lifts, gastric bands even... If someone’s opinion causes you to kys then you had much bigger problems to begin with. I didn't say that people like you make anybody kill themselves. I didn't say that at all. /r/PussyPassDenied13/11/18 07:31 PM

My point is that calling them gross is an insult. Gender dysphoria is a mental illness, and transitioning and living as their preferred gender is the only known effective treatment. It may not kill people directly but it is real and it does ruin people's lives. If medical action and/or social transitioning can improve their quality of life enough to make them not kill themselves, then insulting them for doing it is a dick move.

Yes I did assume some of your opinions in order to reason with them. If they are incorrect then tell me how. This means that it doesn't exclusively refer to anything after the word especially But then your original point, that these aren't women and you can't change your gender, is still wrong since you're only using a limited definition of the word. And it's more than that anyway, because you've misunderstood the whole concept of gender not just the definition.
/r/PussyPassDenied13/11/18 05:54 PM

So you admit then that your original comment is wrong? Scientifically speaking, they don't have the correct chromosomes. I don't know why simply saying that you're a woman is sufficient. Rather, if we use your personal definitions (which are of course unaffected by your feelings), then it could be true. Really, I can't prove why the definition was changed. I'd say that it's due to a deeper understanding of gender/sex, which is still a relatively new area of research. But no matter what I say you…

That isn't what I said though, is it? Your sexual preferences don't make you transphobic. The fact that you're on here spewing hate against trans people is what makes you transphobic. Simply saying that you're one gender normally isn't sufficient. But gender is a role which we play, not our chromosomes. The ideas of "masculine" and "feminine" far outdate any knowledge of chromosomes, and refer to a social idea rather than a physical one. If we want to talk about the biological definitions then we can talk about "sex", but gender isn't defined by biology.

Please re-read: Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behaviour, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population. SRS doesn't lower suicidality to levels of people who don't have gender dysphoria. This does not mean that it doesn't reduce suicidality at all. That conclusion implies that transitioning isn't a sufficient treatment, since the issue isn't completely resolved. That does not mean that it isn't an effective tre…

Are you seriously unaware of the other meaning of "phobia"? I suppose you'd say the same thing about "homophobia"? This stuff isn't hard to google though: Transphobia: Dislike of or prejudice against transsexual or transgender people. https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/transphobia You're just angry to see somebody calling out bigoted bullshit. And what treatment do you suggest? Have you tried to imagine what it must be like living with gender dysphoria? Trans people don't want to need surgery you know. Have you ever read up on what they undergo? It's pretty brutal. People only put themselves through that because they feel that they have no other option.

But the conclusion to be drawn from the above is that anybody who's ever undergone gender reassignment is gross. So, anybody who's ever had cancer is gross. Also I was criticising the language. You wouldn't say "cancer patients are gross", even if you think it's objectively true, because it's a horrible thing to say. But somehow it's okay to say about trans people, who are only in that "gross" position because of a mental illness.

Transgenderism is a mental illness Right, clearly your main education on this topic has come from Fox News. I don't expect you to admit that you're wrong, but maybe next time try to use the correct terms to avoid embarrassment. Gender dysphoria is the mental illness. It is the feeling that your physical gender is wrong, i.e. wanting to be the other gender to what you physically are. Being transgender means that you have chosen to identify as the opposite gender to your birth gender. This is a re…

You think that because the only stuff you know about them is what you read in the news. Well, the news focuses on that one aspect of their lives, but they are real life actual people beyond their gender identity. They have their own loves, hates, experiences, jobs, good days, bad days, fears, aspirations.... You are the one reducing them to their genitals, and so I'd say that you are the one who cares most about their genitals. I hope that one day you actually meet a trans person in real life an…

Maybe that persons personal opinion of trans people is that they are gross. Do you have a justification for that opinion that won't make me think you're transphobic? I'm not crying, I'm just pointing out when people are being bigots, and challenging them on their prejudices. If your opinion doesn't stand up to questioning then maybe you should reconsider it.

What's that meant to convince me of? All that is is proof that one trans person is an ass. If they successfully sued then it would be indicative of a problem in the legal system imo. Not a single one of those things is required to be trans. You're taking issues with medical procedures commonly taken by trans people, not with trans people. This is like me saying that all Americans are gross because most of them are fat, and fat people are gross. But yeah, sure, surgeries are often gross. It's based on both. Playing Russian roulette with 5 bullets in a gun is a bigger risk than playing with 1 bullet, even though the consequences are identical.
/r/MensRights10/11/18 08:42 AM

The size of the risk is influenced by the likelihood of the risk. Not a single person has ever lost their job over a sexual assault allegation for using an AED to revive somebody. You're more likely to get killed crossing the street. This is like me saying that you are ignoring the risk of being electrocuted while using the AED. I mean sure it's probably never happened before but you could die so therefore it is actually a massive risk.
/r/MensRights10/11/18 01:27 AM

What's more important really is the likelihood of the risk. You're more likely to get hit crossing the road to help someone than to lose your job after a sexual assault claim for using an AED to save them.

Attacking historic feminists isn't inherently anti-woman, no. But why would anybody make that comment if they weren't anti-woman? To me, there is no other likely explanation. no one has been martyred for feminism or women's suffrage, I mean that's untrue, as one woman did die for women's suffrage in the UK. It's not about what they risked, it's about the level of what risk was posed. The original quote: Not a single woman had to actually fight for suffrage. She suffered no real risk. She just had to whine. Women all over the world took very real risks for suffrage throughout the 20th century. This fact is not at all changed by the fact that men in their millions paid the ultimate price in the name of war.

When you are living and experiencing something, the suffering of people far away from you doesn't do much to affect your situation. The fact that men were fighting in the war can in no way indicate that women in the suffrage movement didn't risk anything, and only whined.

I don't doubt that you would never express these views in real life, where you can't hide behind anonymity, because you know how blatantly hate-fi…

Women whined for the right to vote... men died for it... One of those is fighting... Why are you so stuck on comparing it to men's experiences of the time? The original comment made no such comparison. It's pretty black and white: Not a single woman had to actually fight for suffrage. She suffered no real risk. She just had to whine. The above statement does not depend on the male experience at all. It is entirely independent from it. Yeah... about what I expected... Wow, when you're a dick to s…

I will say however that holding up a placard is not the same thing as being forced to kill or be killed. What's your point? Your whole comment in fact: what's your point? Women did take risks to get the vote; you denied this but have said nothing further to back up your claim. Women did a lot more than "just whine" to get the vote; you denied this but have said nothing further to back up your claim. No, all that you've said here is more about how much you don't like women's suffrage. Well fine, …

Maybe that is what they meant by "fight", but it does nothing to mitigate the falsehood of the following sentences: She suffered no real risk. She just had to whine.

So if you've never fought in a war, then all you've done is whine...? The fact that men fight in wars is completely irrelevant. There were plenty of risks associated with the suffrage movement. If you think that all they did was march in the streets then you need a history lesson.

Or perhaps you don't like women and look down upon them. Lol what? What's that based on? That is all they had to do compared to what men had to do to get the vote. No comparison was being made though, it was stated that literally all they had to do was whine. I'm not really sure what you think men had to do to get the vote though... They never had to and still don't have to put thier lives on the line of they choose not to. So because they aren't conscripted, therefore all they do is whine. Righ…

So if you make something happen, but don't go to war to do so, then you achieved it simply by whining. Right.

Oh nice, I already have you tagged as woman-hating. Unsurprising to see you wade in here I guess. "Fighting" for a cause is a pretty common term for really actively doing anything for the cause. You don't need to be literally fighting anybody. Provide a list of casualties they suffered... and we'll go from there. Who are you to make demands of me, exactly? I've already given a link showing that 1300 were arrested. Do they need to actually be physically injured? No, they obviously do not.

The comment I replied to: Not a single woman had to actually fight for suffrage. So, the distinction between different groups is irrelevant. They were all actually fighting for suffrage.

Not a single woman had to actually fight for suffrage. She suffered no real risk. She just had to whine. That is just factually inaccurate. What the heck did you base that on? More than 1300 suffragettes were arrested in the UK alone between 1906 and 1914. Yes, some of them were committing unquestionable illegal acts, but very many of them weren't. But even if they all were, there is still the risk of prison. And the documented arrests are just the beginning of the story. The suffrage movement w…

The history of feminism has been to bring equality I disagree with this. Feminism has always been about equality only when it helps women. But when their push for equality has tipped the scales too far, feminists make no effort to right it. Which they would do, if they were truly egalitarian. But they aren't. Feminism exists for the betterment of women, not for equality.

It's not under the guise of women's rights. It's under the guise of everyone's rights Feminism literally means the advocacy of women's rights. Feminism is about equality for women, just as the mens rights movement is about equality for men. I don't know why some feminists try to deny that basic fact.

Yeah I guess that makes sense, though the people who will see this almost entirely would already agree with it. 98% upvoted.

It isn't super rare for random women to support some men's rights views anymore. I'm not upset about anything, I'm just pointing out that imo the title detracts from the post.

If you titled it as being "shared by a *man*" then it would be a weird thing to say. Should we celebrate every single woman who supports any MRA point of view? It's inconsequential, and just seems to me like clutching at straws.

Some random woman on tumblr believed in it, so what?

Then why's it worth mentioning?

It being shared by a woman doesn't make it more true. That detail really isn't worth mentioning.

I mean I'm not sure that it should be prosecuted as seriously as violence... I think that 4 months is appropriate. Even though it ended in murder here, I wouldn't assume that she could have known that.

Men who take this sort of criticism do encourage it I think, but they're not the sole problem

Her student was the younger one. I'm not commenting on the appropriateness of the punishment.

Here, you seemed to be implying that statistically women are more likely to go for younger victims than men. "Chances are" isn't only used for guesses. Why do you guess that hers was the younger victim then? And no, the age difference wouldn't make up for the difference in sentence. It would go the other way if it were to, anyway. I was just saying that in this case her victim isn't younger.

Source on that? The student in her case was 16, and the student in his case was 15, by the way.

Lol what, sexual dimorphism isn't indicative of the differences, it is by definition the (physical) differences. Physical differences don't indicate mental differences, though they do go part of the way to explaining them.

But single incidents aren't really proof of much. It makes sense to track statistics on the issue, but single cases are not related to mens rights.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
