Title IX became outdated almost as soon as it went into effect and should have been ended shortly after. Instead, it was tweaked over and over by the education department to maintain a need for Ed Dept. involvement & enforcement, and as a result, ever since it outlived its necessity, it has created little other than damage within the education system.

At this moment I can't think of anything more toxic and whiny than dedicate time to creating and publishing a list of discussion forums for no better purpose than to complain about how toxic and whiny one thinks they are for having the audacity to discuss topics one doesn't approve, express opinions one finds objectionable, and potentially draw conclusions with which one disagrees, all outside of one's influence and control. The list-maker must be so horrified. Oh, the humanity!

I want to start by saying that since your story is unsubstantiated and one-sided it's understandable that it's going to be taken with a grain of salt. That said, if it's true & not a troll post, I do have some advice. In this situation, there is no better thing to tell you than the following: You cannot navigate your situation without legal counsel. Never, ever try to face any kind of criminal allegation without a lawyer or barrister or whatever legal counsel is called in the UK. Do not wait. Fi…

It depends on the movement. I began engaging in what is now labeled "men's rights activism" (not to be confused with advocacy, which I was doing for years prior) when a friend faced a blatant and ridiculous false allegation that was followed up by 7 years of malicious prosecution by his ex-wife. I went to court with him, helped him document his life during the ordeal so that she couldn't catch him at a time when he couldn't prove the truth in response to one of her lies, and was there for him th…

I've been a redditor for the life of this account plus those of multiple accounts I've had prior and have NEVER seen this subreddit not allow dissent. That said, I have to point out the OP's message is disingenuous. This is the classic "agree with me or nobody will like you" argument. OP has described disagreeing with the opinion he thinks is right as "refusing to acknowledge women's issues" and "siding against this woman just because she is a woman." I've seen a lot of debate on the case in que…

Appropriating female culture... that says a helluva lot more about your critics than it does about culture, women, you, or appropriation. Unless they really do think women as a group are a victim culture, they have no reason to accuse you of that.

There may be common ground between the classic unprejudiced liberal Democrat and the libertarian or constitutional conservative Republican, but there cannot be common ground between the authoritarian "progressive" Democrats and anyone who isn't an authoritarian "progressive" Democrat, because they treat other viewpoints as blasphemy. The same is true with the far right of the Republican party. Feminism is mostly like those far ends. Anything that isn't a feature or function of feminist ideology …

Rather than use the word feminism to describe feminism, point out that men's groups have faced demonization and significant lobbying pushback from political groups when attempting to address men's issues and promote legislative reform like equally shared parenting laws. If you describe the actions of feminist groups like NOW without naming the ideology behind them, feminists who reply to your article trying to defend those groups, their actions, and the movement associated with them will, by com…

The researcher's conclusions in this study have been highly criticized, but there is something else it did show that may be of interest to you. It found that among its all-male sample, about 95% of rape was committed by 6% of men, the majority of whose answers regarding other criminal violence demonstrated that they were criminally violent in general. (I suspect if the same study were done on women, the results would be mostly similar... with violence & sexual boundary pushing being more sociall…

Personally, I think it's wise to have your stuff on more than one site, too. Though I don't expect police to shut down a U.S. site based simply on political viewpoints (to date it's been all the sites' own doing when censorship has occurred) there are other good reasons for that. I used to have a significant amount of writing and photography up on a site called Gather, when it was a social networking site for artists and writers. The owners sold the site, and it got turned into a tabloid trash s…

I believe that: That invalidates everything you say as an argument in this discussion, because in terms of what should or should not be acted upon, your personal beliefs do not matter. I don't think you understand what a consensus is - it doesn't mean that everyone agrees, only that most people take a well-defined moderate position. The vast majority of American doctors neither oppose the circumcision of children, nor do they want to pressure parents into it - that's why you don't hear from them. It's actually not a vast majority, just a group. There are plenty of physicians who disagree and give well-supported reasons. Further, even if there was a consensus, that does not mak…

From the article: For example, a Manchester mother of two struck another vehicle with a golf club. The female driver of that vehicle struck her in turn with her vehicle, stopped, reversed back, and drove backward and forward over her prone body, eventually killing her². We routinely treat female violence with leniency. She was given a one year prison sentence and ordered to resit her driving licence. The presiding Judge excused the leniency of the sentence on the grounds that the act was, in his…

I worked as a nurse's aide, and yes, every woman in your vicinity on your shift will seek you out for heavy lifting. Do not let some lazy-assed female nurse talk you into damaging your back. If someone is a 2 person lift, don't be the one person taking most of the load while some chick half your size pretends to take half but barely contributes. Everywhere I've worked my female coworkers have dumped the dirty, heavy, dangerous, and uncomfortable jobs on my male coworkers. When there are no guys around, those jobs get dumped on me because I don't bitch about having to do them - I just get them done, (or when they entail a skill I haven't learned, admit when I don't know how to do them & ask for instruction, so I don't fuck something important up.) Actually, no, there is not a consensus - there are some doctors who promote circumcision, and some who don't. There is no legally recognized right to bodily autonomy that is violated by circumcision. Actually, there is. That is why female circumcision is illegal over most of the world. Maybe I'm assuming some background legal knowledge that you don't have. Right. My whole point was that you can't create a good analogy with situations using either sexual activity, or with only two adults (and no children or other incompetent) involved. Except it is a good analogy, because the judge forced her to consent to having part of her son's penis cut off based on his own opinion of the procedure. You don't seem to get that the father wanted him cut, and that's the whole reason she was in court in the first place. That doesn't override the other parent's righ…

they'd be forced to consent to you taking their money. But not to sex. What if it was vaccination that she wanted to back out of? The result would still be a judge overriding an individual's parental autonomy for an invalid reason. Are you suggesting that the judge should allow her to break the agreement? Absolutely. Based on what, that he happens to be anti-circ? Based on the fact that it's 1) not the judge's child, and 2) not a question of whether refraining from circumcising the child is an a…

Actually, no, it's not. Human nature is to start selfish, then grow up and mitigate that selfishness with rational thought. And it wouldn't be right, either, to seek advantages. Feminism kept human rights considerations from evolving equally in society. It was the confounding factor in the way legal consideration for, protection of, and obligation to human rights evolved. If you want to fight for equality, fight for equality, not feminism. If you fight for equal treatment under the law, though, …

Feminism, regardless of whether you modify the label with "radical" or "liberal," has never been anything but political gendering of human rights considerations and adult accountability to exclude men from the former and shield women from the latter. It has always relied on (and promoted) the view that female experiences and interests are uniquely relevant and meaningful, women and girls uniquely deserving of relief or protection from discriminatory law and policy, and men and boys are uniquely …

If they had a contract to have sex, do you think there would not be hell to pay if a judge tried to enforce that after the divorce? This is about consent to do a thing based on the consenting party's perception of the thing's impact on the health of the consenting party's child. If information changes that perception and the party in question is convinced the thing will be harmful instead of healthy, it is a gross miscarriage of justice to use the contract to force that consent. No contract can …

That's about what it takes to get them to stop trying to sell you on it. I swear when my kid was born, by the time I got rude with them (and maybe a little threatening) it felt like more people had been in the recovery room pressuring me to agree to a circumcision than had been there to provide after-care for the baby & me following a birth that was labeled "traumatic" & "emergency" in our medical charts. I had to actually sign a refusal form before they shut up about it.

Unless one parent wanted a circumcision and the other didn't... At least one Florida judge has demonstrated that in such a case, the nonconsenting parent will be ordered to consent to the procedure being done on the child, under threat of imprisonment.

I've been a victim of medical malpractice for which I had no recourse. I've also been a victim of other things that people usually consider cause for some type of action for the sake of recourse for the victim, also without any plausible course to take to obtain that. I've had to process and get past things that, if I focused only on terms of fairness and "making it right" I never would have gotten past. The problem with linking the two is that the timing of the court issue is not under our control. The court set the date for the next hearing, and it's not until the beginning of winter. This is simply the reality of legal action; it is mostly long periods of waiting interrupted by short bursts of activity, with your opponent having the ability to delay resolution without your consent by bringing up tangents that add additional court activity. ICMI is becoming a pretty much annual event. It will …

For the reasons I laid out in my original comment, I think your parents are right - they acted on the information that they could be most reasonably expected to act on at the time. They relied on experts with credentials for advice. The fact that you and I know that advice was wrong now does not make their reliance on it at the time negligent. Even the fact that the law prevents that advice from being treated as the actual act of negligence does not raise the bar to make diligence beyond accepti…

I'm sure every victim asks that question. Personally, I think you should be able to sue the doctor who did your circumcision. I also know that many men who have wanted to have run into barriers - the physician was no longer alive, they couldn't find out who did it, area laws prevent the suit, etc. If you find that you can, more power to you. If you find that you can't, then it's time to forget about who is at fault and start focusing on where do you go from here. It's wrong that it should be so …

It's not necessary to call it mutilation to get the point across that it is wrong to impose genital cutting on people who are too young to be able to refuse it or to understand enough to give informed consent. That tactic originated with feminists in western countries criticizing female circumcision in the few areas of the world where it's practiced, and they were able to use it specifically because they were talking to people foreign to the practice when using that term. They've successfully us…

Actually, it is about cases that can't be proven. They are not just being held to a different standard on campuses, but also being prevented from fully defending themselves. There have been cases (and there are pending lawsuits due to this) where the accused was denied a representative. The accused is not allowed to face his accuser. Exculpatory evidence has been excluded. This means it's not just the POE standard the accused faces, but actual limits to which information will be considered... so…

Actually, it's exactly like a feminist is only hoping to get the accused expelled - whether he's actually a rapist or not. The fact that it takes longer to prove a case does not mean proof isn't important. On the other hand, the number of lawsuits by students who have been wrongfully expelled shows the schools do not have the capability of dealing with these cases, and that they are, in fact, being substituted for due process in cases where the accuser knows she cannot prove her case. In those c…

In some states, were this woman to divorce this man, retain custody, and then demand child support from him, the fact that he had acted as a father to the child would have put him on the hook for support. But of course, that standard does not go both ways. What this woman has done is incredibly abusive to everyone involved in the situation.

The truth is, most women are not feminists & do not support feminism's actual agenda. That said, many women have no idea what is happening to men until it happens to one close to us. I didn't need that to learn that false allegations were wrong... but seeing that happen in more than one county is how I learned that the problem wasn't just a dumbass local judge acting on his own biases, and there was a legal inequality to oppose.

Declaring yourself correct when it's been demonstrated that you're arguing to not be prepared deal with an issue that may come up because "technicalities" only makes you look stupid. You're wrong. You do not know how courts work. You would have a point if the Campus SaVE act were not based on the dear colleague letter, and the official guidelines from Title IX's own site did not reference that specifically in terms of the preponderance of evidence standard. Since they do, you do not. This is a challenge that is likely to come up and which we must be ready to face when it does. The best place to get an answer to your question is your attorney. If it is, it still is important to discuss this with your attorney. Why is it that infanticide is predominantly committed by women, even when the mother isn't the infant's killer? We can trade loaded questions, or we can consider the possibility that violence is a dysfunction which is present in both sexes, but may manifest differently depending on the individual's access to victims weaker than him or herself and therefore vulnerable enough to attack. Of course, that wouldn't lend itself to demonizing men as "the" violent sex, would it?

None of this changes what feminists are doing with the term. Talking about how it originated only shows how bad what feminists are doing with it is... they have co-opted a term used by men to describe a manner of oppression they face, and twisted it into a tool of that very type of oppression. It's almost like that thing they're always saying about women not being a hivemind could be... true. Could these old feminist women survive such a horrifying revelation?

Well statistically, women are more likely to be victims of rape and domestic violence. (most female homicides were committed by their partner) [DV stats contradict that.](htpp://www.batteredmen.com/StrausV78.pdf) So does an accurate reading of rape stats. Feminists worked hard to bury that information. Which feminist groups are taking measures to undo that damage to legal recognition of (primarily male) victims of female perpetrators?

What legal rights in the U.S. do you think men have, that women don't? Are you aware that, due to promotion of Mary Koss's work by 2nd wave feminist Gloria Steinem, government agencies are basing law and policy on statistics garnered from survey methods which define rape to exclude female perpetrators? In what way does using those statistics as a basis for law and policy promote equality? How do you think using that definition in law and policy might affect male victims' ability to obtain justic…

You need a lawyer. Your girlfriend is already leaning toward using false accusations against you. The fact that the police did nothing indicates that they either didn't know who to believe, or were responding to legal statutes limiting how many cases they can treat as female perpetrated (and yes, those exist.) Get a lawyer, get as much documentation as you can (including photos - have a friend take them if needed,) and get this abusive woman out of your life before she does something worse. A la…

It's an interesting perspective. Regardless, the issue is still the behavior, and not the man himself, and I think focusing on him, personally, takes away from the ability to address the issue because instead of responding to discussion of the issue, they respond to past discussion about him.

My response to seeing him labeled an MRA is to ask the ideologue slapping on the label why they're entitled to determine his political identity for him when, were they discussing any other person and identity, they'd be offended at that behavior. My thought on this: Even though what's being done to Roosh is a men's issue, talking about him instead of the issue itself is a giant distraction that will take away from establishing the issue itself. The issue itself is political ideologues like feminists & other SJWs using accusations of misogyny to 'justify' appointing themselves arbiters of what men do or do not have the right to say, and to what considerations men are or are not entitled. /r/MensRights07/10/15 04:06 PM

It's lacking a piece. To be a true "in a nutshell" image, it needs a feminist responding that a chaotic ass-grabbing field invasion would be worse if a man did it to women because women face systematic institutionalized oppression... and then to claim that the other commenter's belief that the two are the same is evidence of said oppression... and then to block/report him if he makes a rational response countering that assertion.

It's not a stretch, but MRAs frequently hear from feminists that they believe us to be unrepresented among transgendered people & this sub has actually had feminist transwomen visit in the past to tell us how wrong we are about women... even arguing with other women as if one person's experience determines what life is like for all women. Feminists portray any opposition to their lobby, their misandric rhetoric, and their effort to obscure equal female perpetration of partner and sexual violence as "woman hating." The whole point of that is to silence criticism of feminism. This isn't the place to win feminist friends. Feminists attempting to equate sex acts with contracts only seem to make sense as long as you view the act through the filter of the same traditional gender stereotypes that feminists claim they hate. To get you to buy into the "contract" argument they must treat sex as if it is always male-initiated, and the female must always be persuaded to consent, never mutual, and certainly never the reverse. You must treat sex like something men do to women. Once you remove the gender filter and see sex a…

Your answer is a sloppy cop-out. An individual doesn't have the right to force people to be anonymous to avoid being slandered or libeled, which is what creating a blacklist online and placing people on it does. Since you cannot address the argument I made with anything that doesn't rely on doing that, I'll take it as your concession of my point.
/r/MensRights31/03/15 05:56 AM

This is an irrelevant argument - it has nothing to do with whether or not you have the right to create a blacklist purportedly to be used on harassers, then instead use it against political dissenters, which is what both the gamergate and atheism+ blockbot creators have done. If you fail to see how preventing large groups from seeing speech you personally disapprove is manipulation, you're either being deliberately obtuse or your deck is short a few cards.

Pick a label that doesn't apply to you. It can be any label, as long as it's something that could conceivably have a negative impact on your relationship with your employer. Koss felt it more important to find a high statistical incidence of male violence against female victims without getting the same numbers for male victims of female perps. To achieve that, she chose to ignore both sexes' assessment of their own experiences to garner more victims of male perpetrators, and defined rape to exclude victims of female perpetrators. That's essentially a treatment of …

You can also point out that when the researchers don't define rape to exclude female on male perpetrators they find that men and women are (by their applied standards) victimized by the opposite sex at about the same rate. The way the 1 in 5 stat gets applied only to women is very sneaky: https://youtu.be/0ncjGFIFPJI

Again you're being dishonest - by trying to discuss the issue without acknowledging what the agreement was for and the implications of imposing it, you're attempting to erase the actual issue. That's a dishonest. If the agreement were to give the child artificial breast enhancement surgery, and at the time of the agreement the mother had only information which made the idea look beneficial, would you argue that a judge was "just enforcing an agreement" if later, the mother refused the surgery af…

Nice try framing the situation to exclude what the court is attempting to impose. A parenting plan is not a set of stone tablets written by God. It's not even ethically the same as other contracts. When a parent learns that a part of the agreement will harm the child it is an abuse for the court to enforce it. This is as unethical as if the court were to enforce a custody agreement that would leave a child in an abusive home.

Right - because violating one's civil rights is no different than a little criticism. Hurting your poor widdle feels is totally equal to wrongful imprisonment or denying you a relationship with your kids. No wonder there are men whose assessment of women offends you. I don't consider this point unfair and won't argue against it. However, I know it is not the unified position of all MGTOW, and I think Dr. Randomercam also made a valid point about it. Having no control over the behavior of others in general (not a complaint, just a statement of fact,) my choice is to participate in the fight to take away the bazooka - the legal conditions that give women power over men instead of treating the sexes equally in civil and criminal court. Frankly there's not really a male equivalent, either. It's a stereotype designed to reduce real people down to a lousy, one-dimensional caricature which treats the simple fact of being male as a negative trait. A better way to respond to it if you have to dignify it with a response is to state that and point out that its use reflects more on the intellectual laziness of the user than it does on anything about the person they're targeting with it.

Not that the men's rights movement isn't helping women. That it is not primarily about women does not mean the benefits of the movement's activism are exclusive to men. If you read the link in my first comment you'll see that the confession itself is not open to personal interpretation. The alleged perp didn't know the details of the crime he was alleged to commit, and their only evidence against him was his "confession." Yes and that's the prosecutor's job; the prosecutor is tasked with presenting a case against a defendant. Once they start picking and choosing cases based on their own personal beliefs Evidence is not a personal belief. A prosecutor is obligated to not present a case he knows to be false. A defense attorney's obligation to his client does not relate to a prosecutor's obligation to the citizen. Their jobs differ significantly.

Looking at the innocence project link in my comment, you can see that it was evident from the beginning that rather than the defendant being a legitimate suspect in the crime, officers were trying to shoehorn him in. His "confession" conflicted with the details of the crime. This means the prosecutor knowingly went after a man the evidence did not indicate was the perpetrator of the crime.

In the past I've had a lot less patience with this behavior. This kind of discussion can be mind-numbing and energy-sapping. It's just that I've encountered it so much that I've become a bit accustomed to it, I guess. It will be interesting to see if this continues. He's already done the flounce & bounce, but that is not always the end of things. On occasion I've seen trollish types do this for days before giving up, even after announcing the end of the discussion, sometimes repeatedly. I think …

So "cultural norms" can be treated by people who consider themselves enlightened as an excuse for sexually torturing children... as long as those children are boys. Only a brand of idiocy as dramatically solipsistic as that which emerges from feminism could create a train of thought running from that information to "because misogyny" with the conclusion that ignoring the victims and focusing on women is the best way to address the issue.

I'm not sure why this question continues to be asked when the movement contains discussion supporting transsexual men, and when it's been asked and answered repeatedly in this and other forums. 'men shouldn't have reproductive rights because they're not the one's that get pregnant' totally deserves to be countered with the question whether men who pay for their dates' food have the right to decide what they get to eat. See how fast that logic ignoring impact on one involved party because of the impact on the other disappears.

I think that paper is a CDC report on a U.N. study. If it's the one I'm thinking, here is a paper explaining criticisms of it: http://www.salem-news.com/fms/pdf/2011-12_JLM-Boyle-Hill.pdf and here is a list of links to information contradicting the claim that circumcision is a scientifically proven preventative measure against HIV infection, including studies with findings contradicting those on which the claim is based: http://www.circumstitions.com/HIV.html

So in order for me to understand your objection to the CDC's policy of educating people on the risks and benefits, I have to go read an article? Circular reasoning; the article debunks the claim contained in your statement here. You can't just state your objection? Your attempt to shoehorn the discussion into a position you think you can counter is duly noted, and rejected. You don't get an easy sound byte to argue with. You know, I've seen this before, too, from other people and on other debate topics. It's a type of discussion pattern that occurs in debate with long-term holders of irrational beliefs. They make emphatic claims about a topic, and when contradicted, they weave the debate through a maze of rhetorical fallacies and posturing. They usually start by treating the discussion as if burden of proof is reversed and the basis for their own argument is already proved. Any attempt at righting burden of proo…

Feminism is a gendered approach to genderless issues, one based on treating female experiences as important and impacting while ignoring male experiences in the same areas. That outlook creates the illusion of justification for the presumption that only women's suffering is deserving of remedy, and only men are deserving of any blame, allowing feminists to advocate for anti-male discriminatory law and policy without feeling bigoted or hateful.

When men began speaking up about men's issues, feminists first ridiculed the movement, then reacted with anger and outrage. Later they've tried to co-opt the movement and redirect it from interest in legal and social reform to blaming men's issues on masculinity and trying to feminize men instead. Why? Treating men as human beings with equal rights goes against what feminism actually is; a gynocentric approach to genderless issues, one which advocates as though only women's experiences matter, o…

"Toxic masculinity" is a term that is now used in the feminist community to associate characteristics viewed as negative or possessed to a negative extreme with the human condition of being male. When feminists cite wikipedia as a source for anything, reject the articles outright as "poor research" and make them find other sources for their claims specifically due to this method of censorship. It removes 100% of the credibility of anything on Wikipedia related to gender issues as a source of fact. The site might be a dec…

This kind of advice is why so many men end up victimized by narcissistic women. It's all about her experience... don't leave even though she was ready to put you behind the eight ball because she deserves better treatment... she's not a shit for refusing to respect your reproductive autonomy but it's manipulative of you if you influence her reproductive choices, and therefore if you do you owe her a continued relationship and you're a shit for leaving... blah, blah, blah. First, if you are seriously considering suicide, please reconsider. This is a temporary problem, not the end of the world. I know it really, really sucks and it seems like a mountain of shit piling on top of you but each thing you are dealing with is a problem that can be handled. Talk to someone close to you, or if you're having a hard time call the national suicide prevention hotline at 1-800-273-TALK to get in contact with someone who can help with what you're going through over this(a very l…

It may not be that his mother doesn't care about him. From the little bit you described the ex sounds domineering and manipulative. His mother may be snowed, or she may be browbeaten into responding without thinking about the behavior she's tolerating. The one silver lining to this is that his mother's relationship with his daughter is a tentative connection that in the future may give him a chance to repair the damage his ex has done to his relationship with her.

This advice is hard to hand out every time I say it, but I've done most of it and it's the only way I know to deal with that kind of situation. If you are to have any chance at making a home with your boyfriend (unless he's so adamant about splitting up that he won't reconsider) you are going to have to become the household breadwinner. There is no other way to financially survive an oppressive system like this. It's something you're going to have to gear up for like you'd gear up for going out …

I live in Ohio, and when my husband had child support hearings he was entitled to a state appointed lawyer specifically because the court was considering confiscation of his income (that is what child support is - the state confiscating your income to give it to your child's other parent). I don't know if every state does that, though.

This is one of the reasons I'm an antifeminist. Feminists don't differentiate between things that make a partner upset, and things that are actually harmful or endangering. They want to lump all things inconsiderate in an intimate encounter under the heading "rape" as if being inconsiderate is no different than beating someone into submission and forcibly violating them... and they are hypocritical when it comes to the standards they set. Those standards are for other people, not themselves. Tha…

You're referring to the Hayden rider, which proponents of the ERA were against. You seem to be contradicting yourself as well -- if the amendment actually gave the government more social engineering power, then opponents wouldn't have needed the rider to begin with. There's a problem with your logic. Social justice warriors do not want equal rights. They want special privileges for some (i.e., affirmative action) and the ability to impose on private citizens and private citizen groups their idea…

In that case, you might have to ask your county prosecutor's office. It's a question that the prosecutor should be able to answer without you having to go into a lot of detail except the method of contact. ("I have a question about restraining order enforcement. A person I have a restraining order against is calling and texting me and has left things on my car. Does each call, text, or other approach count as a separate offense or do some of them get grouped together as one under the law?") That…

Regarding your update: You should be asking a lawyer that. It's going to have different answers depending on your county. However, even if different contact attempts don't count as different attempts if she's using the same method, the volume and timbre of them will affect how seriously a judge takes the threat. Her statement that a protective order means nothing to her should clue him in that she's dangerous, and stronger measures (like incarcerating her) should be taken for your protection jus…

It would also have given the government more power to impose social justice on citizens and entities comprised of groups of citizens, whether it was actually just or not. And feminists tried to add an amendment to it to exempt female privileges like affirmative action from the amendment's standard.

Something people easily recognize about feminism in their own time, but not so much in its history: It has always been about taking a solipsistic, gynocentric approach to problems that are not unique to women, don't impact women harder or worse, and don't handicap women any more than they do men. That goes right on back to suffrage. Suffragettes did not address a problem that was unique to women, or that was truly solved for men at the time the 19th amendment passed in the U.S. They merely used …

Modern feminism is about established women's groups exploiting proxy female victim status for political pull and for government funding. That is all it is. It is not about women, or rights, or equality. It is like an organism made of two subtypes; established political groups that spew rhetoric, and common drones that pick it up and spread it around. That's all that is left of the lofty-sounding ideals first wave feminists, solipsistic as they were, talked about. Bunch of power-hungry old biddie…

The claim that people excuse rape based on what the victim is wearing is a strawman argument. Feminists use treating it as something common to goad people in to defending something they've never done... so that they can claim it's a common sentiment. I've never heard it expressed by anyone, only variations on it defended by people after feminists have put forth the idea that it's common to believe a woman's outfit justifies raping her.

You're right, but being right doesn't change the threat the accused faces. I've seen a few men through ordeals of false accusation. If his ex is the type to cause a scene, I recommend making sure the guy's time is accounted for during the next month or two. If she's particularly melodramatic, it's not unheard of for a woman or girl in that situation to use a false accusation to save face or get revenge or otherwise assuage her wounded feelings after a breakup. Better to account for his time and whereabouts for a bit unnecessarily than to have him unable to counter a false accusation with evidence.

The father's response is understandable, but not something to celebrate or encourage. It's a heat of the moment response. Even a despicable crime is not an excuse to cease viewing the perpetrator as human and respond to him or her as a monster. You just can't help yourself, can you? Answering a statement in a comment tree referencing an earlier statement from that same tree which discusses a technique of influence as if the commenter was talking about a direct person-to-result action is pretty dishonest. Again, you seem to think feminists are entitled to make up a definition, and even though it's the opposite of your overt, measurable behavior, people are just supposed to accept your claim that the definition you made up describes you. You seem to think that getting it accepted by editors of reference material will erase your behavior and make your self-description a reality. Only if you deliberately ignore feminism's role in causing today's legal and social environment, which are the main causes behind the majority of modern issues. I don't think people get what you're saying - this would make a good article, as people do treat soldiers as saints (or devils) instead of human beings who do or have done extraordinary things. It's good to be grateful for and respectful of their work, but it's harmful to forget their humanity in that process. An injured soldier is still a person with a wound. You don't have to be part of a subgroup of people, no matter how big that group is, to understand that a violation of one's basic human rights (in this case, bodily autonomy) is wrong. You have to rationalize that understanding away to not get it. People have fought for the rights of groups they weren't considered part of throughout history. The underground railroad is a prime example of that. You don't need a penis to know bodily autonomy is a basic human right, and forcing genital cutting on a…

Feminists complain that women are judged by their appearance without ever talking about who is making that judgement. It's more women who set and generally enforce the standard for how women are expected to look. Complaining that men don't do the same thing to themselves to the same degree that women do it is ludicrous.

Feminist activism is where it's most obvious. Think about feminist advocacy to classify and treat the same action differently depending on the sexes of the victim and perpetrator, and ask yourself, what's the basis for that advocacy? You keep trying. Running a scam on people is always intended to exploit, and the circumcision scam is no different. Feigning superiority doesn't change that. It only makes you look incapable of offering a rational argument. Studies with flaws in their methods as the ones you cite above aren't evidence that circumcision reduces the risk of HIV. There are multiple sources discussing the issues with them. Try waiting to put your arrogance on display until you have an actual reason. http://www.publi…

Circ advocates in 3rd world countries are substituting circumcision advocacy for education on and access to prophylactics. As a result the population they're exploiting falsely believes themselves protected from STDs, even though they're no less vulnerable to them than they were before the procedure. These people would be far better off if every dime dedicated to promoting the unnecessary and damaging cut were actually dedicated to disease prevention instead. And quit posturing. You're not impre…

This is sadly not surprising. Circumcision promoters in third world countries falsely market the procedure as a preventative measure against STDs, leaving residents in those areas to believe themselves protected. If they're also failing to offer any real prevention advice, they're just leaving men more vulnerable, as they'll feel comfortable taking worse risks on the belief that being circumcised will protect them. This is a good link to add to the list have on my blog (with credit for the find …

You keep saying "I'm not supporting" and then making supporting statements of exactly what you're not supporting. Your original statement, like it or not, is straight out of the "teach men not to rape" mentality, and it's in reply to a discussion about whether or not it's necessary to herd students into a classroom and teach them not to rape. You've backed down from a position taken, but don't try to pretend you did not enter into a discussion about the pros and cons of "teach men not to rape" w…

None of that changes whether what I've said applies, particularly with unwanted sexual activity. On the other hand, it could change whether or not I take you seriously. Better to know how to 1) be wise enough to not make yourself avoidably, ridiculously vulnerable (like when you're passed out drunk,) and 2) fight using your hands and feet, nails and teeth, none of which can be taken from you by a stronger person than yourself and turned on you. Your feelings don't determine the meaning of or intent behind another person's actions. An accuser's feelings do not make a sexual encounter rape. A perpetrator's deliberate, willful contravention of a victim's right or ability to refuse does. Bodily autonomy is something that gets taught from preschool - kids are taught to keep their hands to themselves. It isn't that people do not know it's wrong to violate someone else's boundaries. It's that they don't care enough to consider those boundaries in their pursuit of whatever they want. That is the problem, and it's not something that can be taught out of people with the NO! That's pretty much the position I've seen from most MRAs, and feminists have criticized us for it. The wage gap myth isn't an issue of whether or not a gap exists, but of the causes. Men doing dangerous, dirty, and hard jobs that women don't do (like deep sea fishing, working on an oil rig, most of the dangerous or labor-intensive work on construction sites, and so on) get paid in accordance with the risks and sacrifices involved in their positions. Men who work longer hours and give up more of …

Men's rights activism stems from the awareness that there are areas of discrimination against men and boys, and t…

If a man and woman hold the same position, work the same hours, and are equally qualified, but whenever the job involves heavy lifting or physical danger, those tasks are assigned to the man, all other aspects being equal, are they doing equal work? If there is hazard pay for a set of dangerous tasks or a night time work schedule, and women don't do those tasks or work those hours at a job, should men be denied that pay because it wouldn't be equal?

No, you're assuming a lack of learning from experience. I've been following and discussing gender issues online for years, and have watched the attitudes in both groups. Feminists have no logic, whereas the men's rights movement is skeptical and questions itself. Feminists compete with each other but they don't question their victim narrative. They run with it, and defend it with resentment for anyone who dares question it.

If all a blog does is validate beliefs, then it's not unbiased. It's important to monitor yourself for that kind of response. I like to see the way some blogs explore ideas, but that exploration has to be weighed against logic, reason, and fact. Let's get one thing straight: "Men" isn't an ideological group with a specific underlying belief. "Feminism" is an ideological group with a specific underlying belief, and that belief - that women are oppressed by a system of male power - demonizes men. It's not okay for feminists to generalize men. You don't think the fact that he didn't even have enough fucking beds for his children seriously undermines your position that he was a fit father? Is that something you would wish for you children? This was not something he found out in an interview - this was something he experienced by going to his house. When a parent does not have half or more custody, many states (including mine) do not require them to have beds that are specifically for the kids. A lot of noncustodial fathers, because the…

Again, the keyword you're ignoring is "interviews..." meaning everything it's based on is self-reporting. If Mrs. Mackley was convincing enough, and had enough friends speak up for her out of sympathy or for other biased reasons, that is enough to bias the report. Your second quote isn't incriminating of Mr. Mackley, but of the system, and directly contradicts the term "reasonable" as you've used it in conjunction with whatever settlement Mrs. Mackley offered. If Mr. Mackley wanted 50/50 custody…

There was once a time when the slack women were cut was balanced out by giving men the authority to meet their responsibilities; they were the custodial parents of their children, and following divorce it was a given that the children would remain with their father, and that's what happened unless the father ran off and left the family on their own. Men didn't ask society to feel sorry for them in that situation. There were not social debates over the plight of the single father. They didn't opt…

Of course she can't speak her mind... the same people who will tell you feminism isn't a monolith when you point out the damage done by the feminist lobby have no problem trying to enforce feminist "ownership" of women. It's also important to highlight this kind of statement in response to the claim that custody bias is due to "patriarchy." It's more of the same argument that NOW used to lobby against custody reform; generalized demonization of Dads as abusers and deadbeats.

That was even somewhat true when abortion wasn't part of the discussion. It's something a lot of people don't seem to realize. I think that lack of understanding is what leads to attaching support for reproductive choice for men to supporting the concept of abortion. Adoption has always been an option. We also need to start making a demand. There are feminists who consistently argue against criticism of feminism by claiming that feminists care about male victims of abuse. This case is a clear cut case of spousal abuse. Chris Mackney was bullied to death using the family court system. If you suspect that her mother is manipulating her, that's a really different situation than if the kid wants a change because she's uncomfortable with the current situation. If there's manipulation, there's a motive. You're barking up the wrong tree here. One person's opinion does not outweigh a study's information; if vaginal tearing happens as often with voluntary sex as it does with rape, it's not proof of rape even if a doctor finds that it's there. Maybe there's other evidence in the case. Maybe there isn't. Whether she's lying or not isn't the point here - the point is that vaginal tearing is not proof that a rape occurred, regardless of who finds it.

Just a quick point - let's suppose, just for the sake of argument, that genital cutting didn't interfere with sexual or any other function in either sex.
