I'm in California which is a no fault and equitable distribution state. I'm currently going through a divorce after my wife of 25 years cheated on me. She makes almost twice as much as I do. I'll likely be getting around 400k after the equity of the house is either paid to me by her or we sell it, as well as from her retirement. So yay!!!

Here in California if the parties can't reach a settlement agreement on a buyout or otherwise, the court will force the sale. They can't force someone to agree to accept a buyout offer.

Even worse is here in California (as well as other states) it is a no-fault divorce state. So even though my wife of 25 years cheated there is no repercussions. So now I'm fighting in divorce to keep 50/50 custody of my kids that she's trying to take from me. We should really just do away with marriage altogether if there are no consequences to breaking those vows. The only promising thing is she doesn't just keep the house and the court cannot force me to give it to her. Options are a settlemen…

It's your home and they can't just lock you out like that legally. Before breaking in, call the police to assist you so they can explain to her and her mother that they can't lock you out.
