#metoo is the weaponry used to spread the damage.

The divorce system (an industrial complex in the US) exploits EVERYONE. Men bear the lion's share of that burden.

Maybe it's a product of feminism, maybe longevity because of medicine or psychology will make us realize that "love" lasts 3 years at best (how long are babies totally dependent?). At the end of the day, each person decides how they live their lives, each day. Some are better at long term thinking than others.

15 years dead bedroom. What was I thinking? I did not know shit.

Okay time for a serious reply. When you are on 'automatic pilot' dancing to what you thought you knew, parents, society, etc...and that gets interrupted by real life (the red pill, maybe black) there exists a void in which you define your goals and motivation on your terms. It takes time, and introspection, and willpower. It is undeniable that seeing the vacuum, and filling it on YOUR terms, is worth the effort. THAT motivation.
/r/MGTOW202/11/19 09:59 PM
1

I can;t argue with that. I try to help people via public health. It helps a little with the motivation.

There are men out there like I was trapped in a sexless, loveless marriage. Around this time of year they get dressed up like a show pony for holiday pics, they are always going to their in laws house for Thanksgiving or their wife’s friends house for Christmas parties. Always remember what you’re missing out on. Amen. This can never be said too many times. This shit is real, gents.

A bitter pill, indeed--one worth swallowing IMO.

I cannot understate my lack of awareness of my own well being while married. I certainly am more aware of my situation now, living on my own.

Do what you want dude--that said, don't let the short term mess with your long term.

It still blows my mind that people are resistant to critically reading, or filtering WHAT they read.

Dude I understand almost perfectly what you describe, it is uncanny. I know I have all the symptoms of depression My thought on this is that you are not meant to be happy all of the time. That said nothing seems to 'scratch the itch' on the bigger picture yet. I am hoping time heals this disquiet/lack of goals, and I am hoping I don't blow my ride (or run out of momentum.)

Coach Greg Adams maintains you can manage your time with a woman too but any time I tried boundaries on that, they bail.

Agreed. I also think it is prudent to have different levels of activities to combat boredom so it does not seem like a chore.

As in co-habitate with a woman? I could see that occuring for MGTOW, especially if they are in a LTR. Of course, I like my money a lot more today, don't want to share and have a crazy ex wife, so...

A thought exercise I like to engage in with friends hanging out it what will be the cause of the end of the US (as a federalized nation of states.) I'll tell you why I am MGTOW. Risk mitigation. Am I one blowjob away from the plantation? Who the fuck knows, I doubt it. Am I red-pilled versus blue now because of my experiences? Well sure, it was a wake up call, but who the fuck cares? I practically hit the divorce lottery and I am still out 400k opportunity cost (her share of shared assets, mostly from my work) and 100k real money and I have NO desire to do that again. I do not know how to answer that, I have observed very few mgtow & women interactions. I know my actions, and intent when I interact with women--in my world women are as human as men. I just don't want to involve women in my personal life, ya know?
/r/MGTOW207/08/19 07:54 PM

I honestly cannot think of a poster or individual I have met who is mgtow as a mating strategy. I'm thinking your perception is in bizarro land.

Now, I've been told that upon going mgtow, many men get MORE attention from women. That's as may be, I've been very private about going my own way so I have no personal experience with this. I think the point is for men to be indifferent to women, and it is that indifference which the women are responding to.

Brother, that is the feeling of freedom, and of being your own man. For those who knew it from the beginning, from those who felt it after a breakup or divorce, it is a wonderful feeling. I will defend my freedom from tyranny in my home, and elsewhere. Never again.

Most of the he time, friendship is based on utility (usually common interests) so when that utility ends, so does the friendship. Some friendships do not behave that way, and for me they are based on character, not utility.

My comment might be way off, but here it goes: You cannot fail at your huge dreams (there are so many!) if there are so many and you cannot start them all. You do not stick with a goal, because if you do not take it to the conclusion (quit voluntarily) you have not failed, just quit. It sounds like to me you want success, but fear failure.

Little late to the party I would like to think, in all scenarios, when a man can desire to be his own man, see he is not, derive the path to that goal, execute and be free of others, he has accomplished something wonderful. There is no late, there is no 'better', there is no half way. I feel blessed to be here mid-life and (more) cognitive of me as a person with agency, complete agency, and if that is to be judged by anyone but me, well, the judge can fuck right off.

Man, it is nice to see actual thought expressed on Reddit. It happens, by volume it is rare, and rare enough that when it comes across I really appreciate it. Kind-of highlights the 'value' of Reddit as a whole.

This is the worse part of my 'awakening' for me; the ever-present suffering of men. Yes, it is possible to ignore it or avoid the situations, but I think for me to be healthy in my understanding is to somehow accept it.

MGTOW doesn't need to recruit! Life takes care of the men; once they see what is going on. Is showing facts 'recruitment?' I never thought so.

I interpret it (personally) mgtow2 as a curated version of mgtow; this is done by statement of purpose and moderation. I personally feel that any mgtow male should be able to critically think and read, and be able to consume and participate in both subs without censure.

It took my parents (low 70s) speaking to other retired friends to accept that 'finding someone better' isn't going to happen for me. Why? Most of their peers had a son, or knew someone else's son, who went through the grinder. I don't think I'll ever cross the line of discussing my parents dynamic (which I now see as bad.)

Good read. There is a great statement in there that explains something that pops up here every once and a while, that MGTOW is above attack: Defining and understanding subversion means identifying entities, structures, and things that can be subverted. Furthermore, it may help to identify practices and tools that are not subversive. Institutions and morals can be subverted, but ideology on the other hand cannot.

First serious relationship: I was 17 she was 24. She was my first real LTR, first fuck. She was still living at home, I helped her find a place, helped her with cash (I worked 3 part time jobs while going to school not for her sake but I was always a worker) After a year and a half when she was in a better place she turned on me suddenly and became cruel. We tolerate shit because we are capable of it. We tolerate shit because we might not recognize it as shit. We tolerate shit because the change is insidious. I personally do not believe it matters WHY the blinders are there, religion, society, upbringing whatever. What I am interested in is WHEN a man recognizes they are on the plantation, that they are able to (via skills and belief) leave the playing field, because there is no winning.

That also helps the economy of scale because you can rightsize after selling the familial home. I still think it is worth seeking counsel for to see if divorcing asap makes sense.

Perhaps we can both agree that 'cheaper to keep her' and 'get change from the couch to pay for the lawyer' might both be short term 'solutions' to a very real problem. I considered all my assets my war chest, and at mid forties that included retirement, home equity, cash and credit. This was great. I am divorced with a couple of high school aged kids and have the same thoughts of my kids being self sufficient. I'll do what I can, to a point, but the rest is on the kids. They are male, and smart, so that will help them a ton. It is a bummer that they have been indoctrinated to think 4 year degree or bust, as I think being a tradesman is a pretty solid play versus the 4 year degree. One thing that always resonates with me on the single mom thing is that the mom can undo any value her kids get from the man acting fatherly to her children, even after years of effort on his part. It is not hard to imagine the mom doing this not as something to help her children, but to hurt the man.

Everyone is human, and has human rights. Society is not kind to the mentally ill, and as such your efforts will be higher to survive than others. You have stated you have seen and know this. Keep in mind you owe nothing to society as output, even more so than others (as others might get a return where you would not.) So all of your energy can be self care and sufficiency.

In my state you would need to have a 2 bedroom apartment because your children need separate private sleeping quarters from you, and also have the ability to have privacy in the bathroom. I think about how I think now and wonder how bad it would get if I resisted society overtly. I think it would be bad. I think we've crossed a line as a society and men -- that is to say people who can own their shit -- are left with non-participation in procreation given the system we have. To allow the abuse of the freedom of choice we have seen in the example here in the post is almost unforgivable, but I think we MGTOW know that there is no way to get societal or governmental retribution. So I read this and the statement/question at the end is the kicker: "Can I ever get get back to that state or has this revelation permanently altered the course of my life?" NOW I know what you need to be in front of your life, living in the present. When dealt a psychic blow, learn what you can, own what you need to, and focus on your present and your future. It is SUPER hard to do this when you have invested your energy in a lie BUT YOU DID NOT PERPETUATE THE LIE. Move on and do not look back.

I would not convolute bachelor with MGTOW. At any rate, I am a single father, divorced, and my kids are teenagers. I am comforted by the fact that inprinting occurs early in a person's life and all I am left with doing is giving my opinion on things that come up. I am raising them to be responsible, and to set, recognize and enforce boundaries. A concrete thing that I will likely do is not support them past thier own concerns, and encourage them to not adopt other people's problems.

If I did not experience the reality distortion field myself I would not believe it. In my case my ex truely believed (believes) her dilusions, and her justifications. I divorced in WI last year and it was not as bad. >20 year marriage, large income difference. Alimony capped at 5 years, did well in the difference. It is all negotiation; I cannot go into details but the bottom line is you are not really in control but if you can settle and be able to explain equitable, the courts will sign off on it. That said, all assets and debts were split 50/50 even though I saved 90 to her 10, and spent 10 to her 90.

Although I have learned about it after they went through the phase, but I believe in early childhood defining emotional intelligence. Beyond that, kids will do what they want, and while you may have influence (or think you do) in the end they, like us, have agency and do what they wish.

Dumbass reporting in here! Reasons == excuses and time flies. Never again! Interesting in that I am trying to raise teenagers without nagging and it is oddly difficult.

Real journalism (investigative reporting, local and regional event reporting which is both factual and personal) is rare as hen's teeth. There is no barrier to being 'published' and the quality of the product dropped to the floor.

I have found it off putting for others when I explain how I think, on almost any topic. Most people do not care about you and only want to hear words that validate or comfort them.

This is all post marriage advice, as per the post. Equalize everything with the spouse, especially income. Undo any lifestyle inflation. Be involved in all child activities and involve your children in yours. If you are certain divorce is going to occur eventually, in most cases longer term marriage benefits the female. So, plan your exit to minimize your cost. Speak to a family law attorney in your county about that. Do not surprise your spouse with divorce. The best scenarios are when the divo…

This x1000. I cannot understate how 'on purpose' our having children was, we're talking years of effort. In the end, motherhood was not what she wanted (actions) and never what she wanted (words.) The hamstering manifests as 'I was raised this way, and was just going a long with how I was raised.' It was--and is--chilling shit.

I don't; again, this is risk mitigation. When they are adults if they ask I'll show them the divorce decree and transcripts. I am not here to poison their relationship with their mother, but to educate.

I've posted this before, but I basically waived getting child support just to ensure the custodial agreement isn't re-negotiated. It is still a risk but a type of insurance I do not mind paying for. Of course we all know income based pay distribution has nothing to do with the cost of raising a child, and in my case I can afford to miss her contribution.

Agreed on the conclusion, and then I think the majority of men are going with the flow (to their demise, long term) because short term it is a hell of lot easier than trying to 'succeed' in this environment. (Now we know not to play.) That is even if they get a glimpse of reality. For women pre-wall, it is easy. They are encouraged to stay in the short term zone via hypergamy and solipsism.

I will repeat what has been said. Hire a lawyer, tell your lawyer you would like to guarantee your girlfriend's unborn child is yours, and would like to minimize risk (time and financial loss) to yourself, and your child if it turns out to be yours. It is that simple. If you do not do this, or you discount this advice as extreme, may fortune be with you.

I fully expect people to be and think intelligently, especially when they are consuming information. I know that is a lot to ask of some, and they too can go their own way, but we're here, reading and writing, and can do so how we see fit.

MGTOW is risk mitigation to serve the self, crafted by the self (who is best able to craft action to fit the self's life.) As women are feels, not reals, this is a concept they'll never understand.

As stated in other replies talking about white knights and simps, women do not have to be accountable to be in a relationship. Women, as a whole, have lost the art of being accountable in a relationship, or even faking it (for life or any real duration.) We are living in a time where men need to catch up to understanding that reality, and we are.

Women have good reasons for shit testing men. One reason is to see if a man will be a good father when the rubber meets the road. I think it's admirable to shit test over that. And I don't. How can a child evaluate if someone is able to parent?

I still feel guilty sometimes. I have a friend whio is very grounded and he is good for me when I describe my hobbies. Trust yourself, own your choices and keep doing it over and over. Be introspective and self validating, to the point where you do not need to answer to anyone for anything. (I was raised by controlling mother, non- confrontational father and replicated thier marriage in my own life. I got out after a couple of decades and am VERY LUCKY.)
