Yes I thought it would be good as a test run, to have a short story to get the book club going without a massive reading commitment.

Yeah, that was his thing for a while. I couldn't talk unless he asked me to. After a while he got bored of this thank god. But yeah very abusive.

The blowie-begging face is spot on.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy05/04/20 03:32 PM

This is spot on. At best, all self-professed "feminist" men that I have met had a very paternalistic view of women. At worst, it was outright hypocritical and they were full-on abusers. I don't think women should aspire to be "protected" by men, in the sense that men shouldn't have to provide the opportunities for women - because that is still patriarchy; and men will still position themselves "above" and reserve for women what they themselves don't want to do.

Yeah but the news said those are the kids they're quarantining with. The bottomless depravity.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy04/04/20 09:08 AM

I know this predates Covid and that it's a whole problem, much beyond the current situation. However, yesterday I heard on the news that since we've been quarantined, child porn online trafficking has skyrocketed.

I have been here a fair while and I haven't seen anyone literally writing that they hate men. Saying that they have lost hope to find a male soulmate - yes I've read that. But hate? No.

Good point. It varies from ex to ex. If I let mine text me, he would be escalating into sexy talk / asking me to come over .. within 2-3 texts.

Yes, just like you, I was happily reading the book until that chapter about cheating completely unbeknownst to your spouse. Some of it isn't utter garbage, but coming out of a relationship with a serial cheater, that chapter confused me so much. Thankfully found FDS eventually.

That might have something to do with it. I used to have low self esteem, now I'm a bit on a fuck it kind of phase. But yeah porn culture has probably damaged relationships much more than we are aware of culturally.

Hi, thanks for replying. I have, over the years, gone on many dates - all initiated by me. With mediocre guys I really wasn't that much into. Since finding FDS and my stopping initiating dates, I haven't gone on any dates whatsoever. Most guys find my music taste terrible though (they are probably right, as I'm really cheesy like that, but I stopped apologising for this years ago).

I completely agree with this. If you don't mind though, I have a question. I keep myself fit, I dress well (I think), and I take care of my skin, of my finances, and of my physical and mental health. I am average level of beautiful (so not like a supermodel, or even like a toothpaste model). BUT. I have not been pursued by anyone since like 2011. I don't know what I am doing wrong

This woman (Carrie) is pretty. Not supermodel pretty but pretty. I am like her kind of pretty (not supermodel pretty), and I think women shouldn't put each other down based on their looks. Carrie does look after herself, is fit and dresses well. That doesn't stop her from being LV.

I wear tight fitness gear but it's not awesome looking (think more like jersey fabric than lycra kind of fabric, and muted colors like greens and greys). I wear tight bottoms and usually a loose T-shirt (nice and new, but not revealing). Although I think your advice probably does work, I feel like the look I wear suits me and expresses my personality. I do have a great body, not gonna lie, but I would feel really uncomfortable in gear like this pic, because it really doesn't suit my personality …

It did at the time, I spent 2-3 sessions with my therapist talking about how disgusting this whole thing was. ETA: It's not that I don't find it disgusting now, but it really affected me during these events, that's what I mean.

Ahahaha love this story. My ex asked me if my kids (implying ours) would be short sighted because I am (very). My mom told me I should reply that my neither of my parents are not short sighted - but I didn't think of that comeback at the time.

My ex really shred me in this way. He criticised everything; it's taken a lot of work in therapy to undo all this trauma. He criticised every little part of me as if it didn't belong to a whole - to a whole person. But, one thing that really really hurt was that he criticized my ethnicity - your question made me think of this because I literally have no control over it. He started off fetishizing it, and eventually in the devaluation stage he tore it to pieces. Whenever I would be in the presenc…

tbh my very abusive ex was the perfect smooth talker. No awkward silences, he always had amazing stories to tell. So I'm now kind of attracted to people that allow room for some boring and awkward pauses. Not people who are boring, but people who don't come with a script of what they are going to say.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/02/20 11:20 PM

Tbh I've been seeing that most men don't even try to hide it. I've had more unwanted advances from married men than single men. Not dates, just inappropriate comments like "send pictures" "oh no, not like this, with you in them", etc.

Exactly. If he has been abused he should have gone to therapy, and taken therapy seriously. If someone goes to therapy they would never come to the conclusion that the opposite of an abusive woman is a submissive woman. Besides, you don't know what the actual story is, you only know his version OP. Source: been abused, have gone to therapy, haven't been looking for a submissive man to compensate.

Also my ex had the ADHD excuse. I started going to a group therapy for couples where one of them had ADHD... he didn't come once. We would get huge fines because he wasn't filing his taxes - I've never had a late payment ever since I left. When I left, he went to the ADHD clinic. I was living at the shelter at the time. At that point his ADHD doctor calls me, and says that my ex has given my name as a person to be interviewed, to make sure he is not lying and can be medicated. I told the doctor …

Regarding staying in shape - I don't do it for that reason; but rather because it's a kind of health insurance policy. For example my mum has been active her whole life, she is still really gorgeous and although she can't outrun me (as I train, too), she probably can outrun most people her age. I do want to be agile and mobile until I am old. I don't agree with the general argument of this message though. I do most things for myself, like hair removal, (mostly I have invested in things that aren…

Hi, can I ask though, for example in the case of DIY products you'd still have to buy the ingredients, isn't it? Are you saying that adds to less than $200 yr? In that case, maybe you'd have to add the time you spend preparing the ingredients as time spent on beauty/skincare. I agree with you however, that it has no bearing on whether a man should pay for a date, but I do think I learnt something from other people sharing their beauty & skincare routine.

The things I get done are: Threading eyebrows (1 time per month). Manicures & Pedicures (about 1 every 3 months, the rest of the time I maintain it myself). Facials (about 1 every 3 months, when I have a more lucrative job I hope to do 1 per month). Recently I've been working on my body hair. I've permanently removed hair I had on my upper lip and neck (I had so much hair everywhere!); and started with other body hair that I don't like for hygiene reasons. Same here! I did the same, deleted all the apps and have been trying to enjoy and improve myself. This has meant I haven't met anyone, and nobody has asked me out on a date since I deleted all my apps. I find it takes a lot of inner strength, though. Especially if you do want to get married. It's difficult not to wish to meet someone, and I find it particularly difficult when many months go by and there is nobody asking me out. Society alters what it defines as "normal" all the time. Remember at one point it was considered "abnormal" to be LGBT, or slavery was considered "normal". Rigid definitions of "normal" perpetuate things like homophobia, anti-abortion views, etc. I very much prefer to be open to revisiting what "normal" is on a regular basis, both personally and collectively.

I haven't delved too much into any of those communities, but I haven't ever come across anyone discussing their experiences of being demisexual who claims that their struggle has been in any way comparable to the gay rights movement (although many asexuals and demisexuals are also romantically gay, lesbian and bi-).

I don't know, because I'm not a part of any of it. For me it's a term that helped me understand my attitude towards sex, which was extremely low libido - almost asexual (although I can feel some arousal sometimes). It really isn't any more than that for me; I read about it, I thought "ah ok, so it's alright to be me", and I've never joined any movement. I don't know what is "normal"; the human experience is so incredibly varied, it varies culturally, geographically and across different times. It…

I don't label myself; I've never introduced myself as being "demi" or have "come out" as "demi" (that would be silly imo). When I found people (on the internet) who were discussing their experiences of being "demisexual" (not my term) - it helped me to understand that there were more people that had such low libido (there weren't many around me). And so I stopped feeling "less than" for things like not masturbating, not flirting, not feeling sexual arousal, not seeking sexual experiences, not wa…

I've never aligned myself to any gay rights movement or pretended I've struggled with the same social rejection. I've just explained to you that it helped me to understand myself, I haven't said it is "special".

For me it's about being "in love" -- at that point I can be aroused by a picture (say of a guy I "love"). I don't know why it matters, for me it helps to understand it in this way ("demi"). I don't tell people on a daily basis (in fact I've only ever discussed it online and in person only with my sister), but it helps to understand my very low libido (for example I've never masturbated, and no it's nothing religious, I just don't).

That's fine, you don't have to use it :) I don't have this word in my business card (as in, doesn't define me), but it helped me understand how uninterested I was in sex unless I was "committed".

For me it's not aesthetically pleasing, I'd say it even makes me uncomfortable. I don't find it gross, just negative in a way that makes me not want to do it. I don't think my friends were "wet" -- they just exchanged these pics and I feared the day it would be my turn. At the time I felt really alienated; being a teen and all that.

THIS! My NVM ex said that every man when he looks at a woman is deciding whether or not she is "fuckable". Proceeded to tell me I am still "fuckable".

When me and my girlfriends were growing up, they used to exchange images (in floppy disks ha!) of celebs in sexy poses (Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, David Beckham and other 90s celebs). I never found any attraction towards these topless guys. I don't think my girlfriends were watching porn at the time; I think for them it was quite natural to be attracted to these guys from magazines. I was called lesbian (by the girls as much as the guys), there were guys who would touch my "parts" in school and lif…

Anyone here studying and working and wondering how you're going to work 40 h a week, study 20 h a week, clean your clothes, house, cook meals, work out and invest so much in your body / appearance? Can't see the end.

Yeah I'm demisexual, so I can never like someone (or dislike them) based on the way they look. I do however, vet guys based on hygiene (rather than looks); which is something I can spot within an hour interacting with them (are fingernails clean? teeth? hair? are clothes full of lint, wrinkles, buttons missing? if eating - is he making a mess? is he careful to wipe fingers, mouth, etc, before touching or trying to touch me / something else).

Also "I'm very spontaneous so I can't... ...meal prep / organize my clothes / remember to brush teeth / remember to shower / make plans with you... the list goes on.

Ah, sorry my bad, I misunderstood. In that case, I didn't have 30 something year-old friends at the time when I met him. Thank you for your advice in any case, hope someone younger than me reads it and avoids the whole ordeal altogether :)

That is really weird that he would share that kind of info. At best (that is, if she in fact had mental health problems), it shows he has no respect for the trust she put in him, and for the intimacy they shared. At worst her condition was a result of his abuse. My $0.02 Thanks for sharing and for your kind words :)

I'd been a Reddit user and had disabled my account because I was so fed up with all the "OP's mum" jokes and general nastyness when someone asks a genuine question or (politely) raises a point in disagreement. So I just made an account again to be able to join this sub (following some LVM disappointing me - the straw that broke the camel's back really!) So glad to have joined this sub!

Beware of LVM who will say they believe in things like this but don't act the part. Some LVM know the script (to attract HVW I guess) but either don't know how to or don't want to walk the walk.
