I don't buy it. I've LOVED being the first to do something with a guy, getting to experience something new together and having it be special. This applies immensely in a sexual situation. I know that I can't expect to date virgin men, but it's definitely a thrill to be the first at something, even if it means we have to get weird to find it.

The times I've been rejected were just normal rejections where they didn't see me the same way I saw them. It's not that they rejected me BECAUSE of making a move- but they wouldn't have made a move either due to not being interested. The surprise usually has wound up leading to an "I don't know" that transforms into a yes or no when they stop being flustered.

Unprofessional I hate this. As a girl who doesn't wear makeup, I don't see why it has anything to do with how good I am at my job. I wind up putting it on for interviews and just get annoyed that that's an expectation.

This, exactly this. I've made the first move in all of my relationships, but the typical response from a guy to being asked out is a deer-in-the-headlights state and confused mumbling.

Not this thread again...

It's the latter, for sure. I'll get a pretty bad oneitis and pursue and pursue and pursue and sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't and just destroys friendships. Edit: Just read that link. It was an AWESOME read. I'm having one problem about how I'd apply it to my life, though, and it's that my "fuck yes" for people grows. I'll get that "fuck yes" for friendship LONG before the "fuck yes" for dating, and then once it hits, it's overwhelming. So since it's so easy for my "no thanks"…

That's a really cool way of segmenting the population, and I've realized that I'm definitely a type 2. I need to figure out how to become more of a type 3; do you see these types as malleable?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/16 11:57 PM
4

And do you look down on them and find them repulsive for taking what comes easily?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/16 08:44 PM
8

That's actually my point. Clearly the standards are NOT based on how easy or hard it is, but are based on something else.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/16 04:33 PM

This fell apart as a reason when in a recent thread I asked about gays and lesbians. It's hard for a lesbian to slay pussy, but she's still seen as a slut. It's easy for a gay guy to get a lot of sex, still not shamed for it.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/16 04:06 PM

He didn't specify it's the girl's morals. It could easily be against a guy's morals too.

PiV with zero orgasms Yeah, or oral that doesn't go to completion; it can still feel good and still very definitely be sex even if I don't come. One provided two numbers on her own, to separate PiV from "other" I think that's what I'm getting at with the range idea, although if you segment enough, you get answer #6. And yes, I'm assuming that all of the numbers are low here, as in my example the very maximum possible was 4. an answer quickly without second-guessing My only worry there really wou…
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/16 03:32 AM

Ok, cool, I'm actually totally on board with that (and count some things that don't include orgasms as sex too). However, a bunch of places in this thread were people who didn't agree with us- and the world has even more. Which is why I think it's completely reasonable to give a range- to account for OTHER people's definitions.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/16 01:58 AM
2

Ah. I just think very hard about pretty much everything (and come from a family of lawyers)
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/16 01:51 AM
1

What are your views on that? I can't tell if you think it does or doesn't count.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/16 01:50 AM
1

So you'd prefer response #6?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/01/16 12:50 AM
2

Well, I wouldn't date anyone who would just assume I'd do specific acts without asking, so I'd be better off without the porn addict anyway.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 11:35 PM
2

So the girl in question, with one bj, one woman, and one "sex" would have an n that was "too high" for you if she was respectful of people's differing definitions? You'd rather her confidently say "One!" Or "Three!" But wouldn't accept the range? I'm assuming that all of the grey is due to definitions, not forgetting- assume she knows every sex act she's ever done and would be happy to tell you, but boiling that down to the "n" is what creates that range. It's clearly not a simple answer. Out of…

I can't imagine why the gender of a previous relationship would imply a casual attitude towards sex. The false pretenses are entirely in their own head if they think that; a long-term relationship in the past doesn't mean you'd be ok with a completely different (and casual) act. It would be like saying "oh, you gave a blowjob to a boyfriend in the past, clearly you'll work a gloryhole because I saw girls who did both things in porn"
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 11:22 PM
1

Well, given the disputes about definitions right here in this thread, looks like the difference between "one", "two", and "three" could require math in her head.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 11:18 PM
1

Ah, yeah, with me it's not like a canned story, I just tend to start talking and then don't quite know when to shut up
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 09:28 PM
4

See, I'm not sure I buy that argument for sex that was entirely within relationships. Because a threesome by its very nature is casual sex, and a girl who has zero interest in casual sex would thus have zero interest in threesomes. The guy who made that immediate assumption would be sorely mistaken. Part B makes sense though, I could imagine someone who doesn't believe in fluid sexuality being constantly insecure that a woman who had a previous sexual experience with a woman couldn't have grown …

The picture of the woman kissing the kid grossed me out. I definitely don't see any of these situations where men were being molested as a "win", and that seemed like most of the list.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 07:46 PM
1

That's really useful to know. I'm the type to overshare- as I mentioned in another comment, I've let SO's read my old diaries and see for themselves every detail about my past if they're interested- and I've never really thought that someone would assume I was lying for telling them too much. I definitely appreciate your template there and it's given me something to think about.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 07:38 PM
1

That wouldn't bother me, as long as you were equally forthcoming
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 07:21 PM
1

That's... really sad. I know some people see sex as meaningless recreation, but I can't get into that mindset.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 07:20 PM
1

I'm interested, how is #3 hedging? Since she's put a cap at 4, would you assume that citing the range is sluttier than the maximum of that range?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 07:10 PM
1

So I'd assume the answer you'd be looking for through that winds up being #6.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 07:08 PM
3

That's really interesting! In previous n-count threads, there were people who didn't count lesbian sex at all, which shocked me. I'm also kind of surprised that it's seen as a slutty thing if it was in a LTR; if anything, following the whole "gatekeeper" idea, it should be less slutty by taking more effort. Is your view that it's way more slutty than another cock a common one?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 07:08 PM
2

This was definitely what I was looking for. I'm especially interested that you saw answer 3 as shifty, since I actually see it as the most honest other than 6. It invites conversation or a refinement ("well I define it this way" etc) and puts an upper bound on it. I also think it's interesting that you saw all of the detail in 6 as suspicious, given that that's how I tend to answer the question. And counting "maybes" seems like all it would do would be to raise the number, not soften it- and let…
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 07:05 PM
1

So which one's "the answer"?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 05:25 PM
2

Ok, great. Then your definition matches. Lots of people on the previous n-count thread would not have counted bj guy. So there's clearly uncertainty.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 05:25 PM
3

Ah, see I count oral as sex, so if I had the experiences of that girl and you asked me how many men I'd had sex with, I'd wind up saying "two men and one woman"
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 05:14 PM
1

Ok, so looking at answer #6, what is her "objective" n?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 05:12 PM
1

I agree, I wouldn't tolerate that answer either
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 05:10 PM
1

I agree, I think #3 is the best if people don't want the depth of #6.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 05:09 PM
2

Ok, cool. Would there be problems if she said something like "three" but then your definition differed from hers later? (I.e., would you agree with her assessment that her experiences as listed in #6 sum to 3, and if you don't, would it feel like a lie if you later found out the details?)
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 05:08 PM
2

You're not understanding me. I stated that, but that's background information. Feel free to disregard it. I'm happiest with your last answer- that for any of the 6 responses, even the one in detail, that you would not believe it. Thank you for finally answering my question.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 05:06 PM
3

That's actually how I like these conversations to go too. It's not hopeless. I've actually kept a journal every day since before I became sexually active, so not just every partner but every time has been written about. I'm happy to share any part of my past with a curious partner, and am honestly confused by people who think it's ok to have big secrets in a serious relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 05:04 PM
1

But assume the premise, you ask and she gives you one of those 6 answers. Do you just assume they're all lies?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 04:52 PM
2

Yes, the premise is that they're all true from her point of view (so her experience is fully encapsulated by answer #6). I'm guessing you wouldn't want to hear "It's none of your business" or "It's low". Would you be ok with "Between 1 and 4, depending on how you define sex", "Three", or "Three, I think"?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 04:51 PM
3

The man in this scenario doesn't know that the answer is truthful. I'm giving you that window into the thought process first. The man only hears those 6 responses. My question is partially "Of these answers, which ones would you be more likely to believe."
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 04:49 PM
5

That's not at all what I'm saying. Obviously some women lie or are deliberately vague. And I think it's very important to ask and to be truthful. I'm a big proponent of both people going through answers like #6. I'm just wondering what you all think, and would want to say and hear. Would you see a difference between a girl who says "Three" and a girl who goes through each experience and says what she did?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 04:48 PM
1

just fucking answer the question. So which of the answers I gave would be the one you'd want to hear?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 04:46 PM
1

That's the premise here. Would this woman, having had only one cock inside her, and a maximum possible count of 4 under the loosest definition, have an incentive to lie?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/16 04:46 PM
3

Less assertive than me doesn't mean completely passive. Less courageous than me doesn't mean he's scared of leaving the house. Less intelligent than me doesn't mean that he can't read. Etc. If there's room for the women you date to be lower on these spectra than you without being the complete bottom of the barrel, why is that suddenly different for me?

Yes, I am. And when I'm single, I am. I prefer someone who can take that support function, and am sexually attracted to that. While I do tend to be attracted to intelligent people, I'm comparing them to the average, not to me. Someone way smarter than me would intimidate me. For the rest of the qualities, I actually prefer someone who is way less assertive and who is more emotional.

As a woman with a double major in math and chemistry, I can say without hypocrisy that we do need more women in STEM. But not by starting at the college level, by exciting them about science as kids. I didn't grow up with Barbie dolls, I had microscopes.

This is probably the first time I've ever agreed with you. I just go do things myself for excitement, and am baffled by friends who feel like they need someone else to go with them. If I want to go skydiving, I do it. If I want to go to the hot springs in Reykjavik, I go. It doesn't take another person to go do an activity.

Definitely a man, he passes 100% and I wouldn't know he was trans unless he told me. Although, aside from pronoun use, I'd like to think that treating someone "like a man" would be no different than "like a woman". I'd be friendly.

I never fake anything in bed for fear of teaching bad habits. It causes problems, though, because it's virtually impossible for me to orgasm and partners tend to hurt and take it personally. They don't believe me when I say that it doesn't matter to me, and that the emotional experience of sex is what I want. My boyfriend has begged me to fake it, many times- but I just can't. I did once, felt awful about myself, told him immediately, he actually thanked me for doing it because it made him feel …

He said "from party to suburbia". I definitely know people who from childhood have been dreaming of their white picket fence and two kids who never went through an experimental phase.

Yes, but equally wrong for the men to do it. Intentionally inflicting emotional pain is wrong.

So for women who never party, do they hit the wall at 12 with their first crush?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/16 04:38 PM

True, I've never understood people seeing someone in a movie and wanting to have sex with them. I can clearly see that some people are -prettier- than others, but that doesn't translate to me actually wanting them in a sexual way.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/01/16 07:42 AM

Absolutely. Kissing is a huge deal to me too. Making out with lots of girls would also feel like it was trivializing intimacy to me. Because of that, my kiss count and my n-count are nearly identical- quite low.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/16 03:55 PM
1

I'm sorry, you're not going to convince me that two people being naked and holding each other, breathing each other's breath and listening to each other's heartbeats isn't intimate. For someone to be able to do that and have it be meaningless means that they have different emotions surrounding the act than I do, which I'm not ok with. I want (and have!) someone for whom it's the other way around- sex implies intimacy, but intimacy doesn't imply sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/16 12:07 AM

Even more so because of his "for fun" experiences. Using my previous analogy where I see it like saying "I love you", I doubt you'd think that it would help the words be meaningful to girl 101 if he said "Oh, but with the past 100 I was just kidding." For guys, sex is not necessarily about saying "I love you". NAGALT. Most are, but I'm looking for the outliers. They exist, and it's pretty easy to vet their views on sex. They're the ones who don't see "getting laid" as a goal or as a symbol of th…

really bad consequences I'm not worried about the -consequences- per se of a man I love having treated intimacy casually. I'm not worried about cheating, or divorces, or anything like that. My concern is entirely about the concept of taking the vulnerability and closeness out of sex. To me, it's special. Hell, to me, kissing is special. I don't understand people making out with strangers or "for fun". It's vulnerable. It says "I'm putting my feelings out there and you're sharing them with me and…

Yeah. Trust me when I say that coming out in the other direction is just as awkward as the first time. I think there are still a lot of friends and relatives who think I just went back in the closet, because they'd accepted me as a lesbian so fully- but they're wrong. Others think I'm some sort of traitor to the cause, or was just experimenting (really hard to be "experimenting" with a 3ish year relationship and then another 2ish one but whatever). I don't have one off-hand. But I know that someone who treats sex as a casual thing that they can do with strangers isn't seeing it as the deep, intimate, soul-melding activity that I do, and that's important to me.

Your BMI matters more than your IQ. For your boner. OP is confusing your boner with her worth as a person. That's the discrepancy people are having problems with in this thread, I think. I think you're right, it's not about money intrinsically (although money is definitely nice). Although, there is still something motivating about a giant bonus for good work. Maybe it's just about the validation that I'm providing value, although I get that a lot from the actual impacts of my work more than the check. I'll have to think more on that one.

You're right that the turnover is high, but for the odd few who enjoy it, it can be a lasting career. There are partners who have been there 20 years. You're right that I don't know a lot with kids, although I recently met one at Bain who does. It's not impossible.

I think this question is hard because it's hard to pin down what status actually means in this context. A little later in the thread you asked about talent and intelligence, which are different to me than status. When I'm thinking status, I'm thinking fame and wealth, and maybe lineage (I'm having trouble figuring out where to put people like the Kardashians who are famous and wealthy but not classy- or, for that matter, talented or intelligent). In any case, fame, wealth, pedigree, class aren't…

You've got it all backwards. I have an internal ambition to work. I used to feel like I'd "have" to clean house. Now I've learned about the glory of hiring housekeepers. Bitching is useless, way better to actually do something about the problem.

Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't make it ridiculous. That is exactly how my attraction works- to the point where I literally can't be attracted to strangers/pictures/celebrities. But once it clicks, my crushes are crazy powerful emotions.

I think the biggest problem with this one is that she could have had sex in a totally crazy place- with an LTR. You'd want a girl to be adventurous in relationships, and assuming she had n=1 she still could have had sex on the top of a mountain or something.

I know exactly how many people I've kissed, including onstage. It doesn't seem that implausible to me. However, I'm still in the single digits on that- maybe for others who've had more experience, they'd forget. That being said, I'm pretty sure that none of those kisses raised my n. That's an insane metric.

Not a psychic, just well-read on the subject. Yeah, I can recognize "Do I look gay?" or peacocking from Mystery, the 5 questions game from Style, etc. If someone were coming at me without a giant furry hat or a line I'd just read verbatim, probably wouldn't assume they'd been following a guide. But the ones who rip material directly from something I've read? Pretty obvious.

In undergrad, I read a TON of pua blogs and books- not out of paranoia (at that point I thought I was a lesbian; no worries about being tricked by some guy) but out of interest. After reading The Game, I was just fascinated by that world and wound up reading Mystery, David DeAngelo, the rest of Neil Strauss's works, etc. When I actually DID catch someone using a Mystery opener, you'd better believe it launched into a discussion about Mystery- and he was shocked that I'd even heard of the guy. That sounds like a lot of hamstering to get back to what your original premise was. It sounds like anything a person could at all be attracted to, you would claim as hypergamy. Here's a secret- pick any two people, and each will be better than the other in some facets. It would be impossible to find someone who is better than you at everything, same for worse. So you're going to claim hypergamy in any pairing, and conveniently pick the talents that the man has above the woman as evidence of hype…

Not better looking, but a lot of fun. We played chess, and what really attracted me was whenever he would play a really clever move. The competition was pretty intense, and competition is sexy to me.

I'm just really looking for what RPs opinion on it would be. If the label is based on how easy it is to get, a hyper sexual lesbian who manages to get 50 conquests would be lauded. If the label is based on women being devalued by the sex they have, the woman who racked up a notch count of 50 women would be ruined.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/12/15 08:42 PM

I've learned that marriages have shelf lives. I'm bearish on the idea of a marriage lasting more than 10 years. But I feel like that's ok- that a relationship isn't a failure just because it ends. My parents have each had several, in my opinion, successful marriages. And I think that's probably what will wind up happening to me. Hard work, maybe. Money, no. One of my friends is a consultant and her husband is a musician. Not a famous one. Just doing what he loves. She makes roughly 10x what he does, and they're really happy together. They have enough money as a couple to do anything they want. I don't buy the argument that the man has to make more for a married couple to be happy.

So I've actually probably got a decent perspective on this since I've dated women in the past. I think they'd respond pretty well. My first girlfriend I met through us both being in the science fiction club at my undergrad, and my second through mutual friends. In dude-3dbattleship world, I'd probably be meeting partners the same way as I actually have; through mutual interests or friends.

I've got a pretty damn good libido; in real life, me and my boyfriend have an awesome, frequent, and varied sex life- and I'm the one with the higher libido, so I'm already the one initiating a lot of the time. If it was higher, I'd probably still be doing that, but maybe would masturbate more?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/15 11:00 PM

I'm honestly not sure. I spent a lot of years with virtually zero energy due to untreated sleep apnea; I don't think testosterone would have been able to compensate for that in any meaningful way. An angrier me would probably just be a dick to people. Right now I already dislike most people but react to that with apathy. Maybe angrier I'd yell at them when at the moment I'd walk away. I think overall I'd probably be right in the same place I'm in now. I guess the gains would be easier; right now…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/15 09:22 PM

I guess I'd be angrier but have more energy. That's what's tended to happen with people I've known in real life who went on T.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/15 09:09 PM

Sure, we see that in any study about men or women going on supplemental testosterone. But again, it's trends. Who knows, maybe I've got high testosterone and that's why I ask people out, have an intense job, code for fun, and don't wear makeup. Or maybe it's just because you can't generalize a bunch of individuals into two oddly-specific buckets of stereotypes.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/15 08:30 PM

I believe that biology influences trends. Personally, I can't relate to a lot of the traditionally female trends. Clearly it affects things like the ability to produce sperm, the tendency for colorblindness, and the tendency to bald with age. I guess if I became male, I'd be more likely to have those characteristics. However, even the "obvious" markers in my view are mostly trends. Take height. Clearly men are taller than women. But some women are 6'3". Some men are 5'0". So it's not a biologica…

I'd argue that you should treat everyone as completely individual persons. You have to tailor your management style to the person you're managing. A shy guy could have the same negative reactions to orders as the women you've encountered. There are women who would rather just be told what to do. You just have to know your employees and what they need in a leader.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/15 04:13 PM
12

I think I'd be the same; introverted, career-focused, someone who brashly asks for what they want and doesn't deal with the bullshit. Someone who's obsessed with self-sufficiency and not needing others. In other words, RP would finally agree with my life choices.

So if a woman wants more money, she's damned either way? If she leeches off the guy, she's a gold digger. If she works hard herself, she's a shrew? Should women just not care about becoming financially secure at all?

Just wanted to address your bit about "or even initiate the sex". I've got a low partner count. But if I was really into someone who I was dating, I would have zero problem initiating sex. Just because a woman is proactive doesn't make her promiscuous. I initiated my very first sexual experience, with a partner I'd been dating a year, in college. The idea that a woman initiating is necessarily slutty is what forces guys into being the ones who approach.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/15 11:40 PM

In my view, a company's success is pretty much entirely based on its return to shareholders. I don't see how the composition of its staff has anything at all to do with that. Note: If it's a nonprofit, obviously it measures success by other metrics, but I can't see the gender of its employees being a factor there either.

I was using "external support" to mean support that is provided by someone else; the premise of this thread. Without support freely given to you from either the biological other parent of the child, the government, or family.

I wouldn't consider your hired staff external. It's a reasonable option, and what I would do if I somehow found myself a single mother. But I'm surprised that's the go-to, since full time staff is very expensive and RP constantly complains about how they'd be financially crippled by the idea of child support. If you're financially stable enough to do it, great- but I don't see the average person as having that option.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/15 05:22 PM

That all sounds reasonable. Also sounds exactly like what a working woman in the situation would do; I don't see why being male makes you any more capable of that. Although I'm kind of surprised that hiring a nanny is the gut instinct here, because that's definitely more expensive than the child support that RP often says will financially cripple them. That would only work on a woman who actually does feel some sort of financial dependence to you. Even your "nuclear" option of just vanishing isn't a threat if she's got the money to hire staff to take care of the kid. Same goes for why it would or wouldn't be a career nightmare. But for the majority of women who aren't making 150k+, you're probably right that it's possible to manipulate someone through their emotions and fears into even doing something as drastic as aborting a wanted child.

I can't even understand the concept of casual sex or a ONS, because I could never be attracted to someone that quickly. Same! I just don't get it, on a very visceral level. Just doesn't make sense to me why it would be appealing at all.

Short, overweight, low-status jobs, poor, socially awkward for sure. Ugly is hard to say, because once I like someone, they BECOME good-looking in my eyes. But, for what it's worth, I'm thin and next year I'll make more than everyone I've ever seriously dated will make combined. I've heard a lot of "you deserve better" whenever I'm in a relationship. I agree with all of this. I was 22, and I waited that long not out of prudishness or out of unattractiveness but because I wanted it to mean something. I was only ready once it was really LOVE, and I think that's a pretty damn good reason.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/12/15 08:24 PM

I think either is pretty limiting. I always roll my eyes at people who think they can determine whether or not they'd find someone attractive by a checklist of things like height or income or age or whatever. I've fallen for such a variety of different types of people that it just doesn't make sense to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/12/15 08:19 PM

I'm thinking this through and I'm not sure it's accurate. When he says yes, he's saying that he wants me too, so that equalizes. But he's stepped into my frame; my activity, my plans; which means I'm actually more in control of how it goes. I can invite him to an activity that's clearly not an invitation for sex, whereas accepting his offer may then later involve rejecting his expectations. As someone who's only interested in LTRs, the first few dates are strictly nonsexual matters, and I think …
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/15 02:25 PM

That's really interesting. I've always invested pretty heavily in my skills- even as a virgin, I wanted to be very prepared and didn't want to rely on looks alone. I wanted to be really great at sex, and so I read voraciously. I'm surprised more people don't do that given how important it is.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/15 02:12 PM

Doesn't allow the man to invest his emotions into the interaction beforehand too That's really interesting. I hadn't thought of it that way, and I think that's probably true in most cases. I'm going to have to think about that more.

Honestly, no. And the three people I've dated have all looked completely different, so I don't really think I have a physical "type". Although all of them have been incredibly smart, nerdy, and introverted- so I think I have more of a personality type. I like to have my brain challenged. Edit: No, I don't think this makes me "sapiosexual" or anything ridiculous like that. I'm just saying that it's a trend, not necessarily a requirement.

Honestly? It's anyone, if they're a stranger. For me, attraction kind of hits me all at once after knowing someone for a while (it's never been less than a month or so). They'll say something funny, or we'll meet eyes and I'll feel a jolt, or we'll be having a deep conversation and something will just click like a flood of warmth over me. I've never understood people's attraction for celebrities.

It's still always people I know, because I don't find myself attracted to strangers. I'm just way better now at reining in my exuberance when I like someone; less staring, less obsessing. I do outright say the words, like "Would you like to go with me to see Wicked on Saturday night, I've got an extra ticket." The times it's been successful, it's usually elicited a stunned silence, followed by a timid "Sure" and a boggled look on their face. It's entirely LTR-based. I've never had a ONS, and I'm…

Maybe it's just my weird quirk, but I can't imagine being attracted to anyone upon instantly meeting them. If some stranger, no matter how "hot" asked me out, I'd be put off. So my sphere is a lot smaller, because it only includes people whose personalities I've been able to gauge. I'm also pretty introverted and don't enjoy most social events. I guess that's why it's so important for me to make a move when there is someone I'm interested in- because it's rare.

That's a good point, that I'm seeing a bunch in this thread. Guys seem to assume that date = sex. I tend to assume that date = potential start to a relationship. Maybe that fundamental miscommunication is part of the problem. And go you on making that happen! :-D

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I still think that option C exists, of the girl who loves sex, but not with strangers or casual dates. (ie. Me)

The men I've asked out have been very respectful of my boundaries. I've never had sex outside of a committed relationship, and rarely felt pressured on a date. That's part of the vetting process- finding someone who shares the same values as I do about sex.

When the woman approaches the man the man says "yay! Easy lay!" I think this would very much depend on the ask. I addressed this in another comment, but I'm definitely not expecting you to read through the >100 posts that are here now. Basically, I was saying there's a big difference between a woman asking you to go home with her at 2am when the bar's closing, versus a woman who only has sex within relationships asking you out for a dinner. I think it's pretty easy to be clear about your intenti…

I honestly think there's a third option. I'm definitely not a prude; my boyfriend and I have a very healthy and active sex life, full of fun and variety. But, we didn't start until we were committed. That's been the case for my three relationships. I don't give it away "for free". If I were single again, there is zero chance I'd have sex on an entry-level date. But once I'm in love with someone and we're in a committed and exclusive relationship, anything goes. Luckily, if I'm doing the asking, …

They find it off-putting because it's unusual, and when something is unusual it's typically a signal that something is wrong. I like that view; that makes a lot of sense. It throws off the pattern they're used to, and so they wouldn't be prepared to respond.

I'm assuming she thinks through all the men she knows and picks the one who has the highest value to her, proven through knowing him casually for some time as an acquaintance or friend. After locking onto her target, she asks. I'd assume that's actually best for "the kids" (who don't exist yet, since she's not even in the relationship) because she would have found the very best person to have and raise them with instead of the randomness of who walks up to her and asks.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 07:46 PM

I guess I don't care about someone being a "fighter". The guys I've asked out have primarily been the introverted nerdy type that I like. They've also been my friends before the ask, so I know plenty about their personality and have vetted them to make sure they're what I actually want before putting myself out there and taking the risk.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 07:43 PM

That's cool. I'm not saying that there needs to be a quota, I just hear all the time here that it's a thing that very few girls do, which just doesn't make sense to me from my personal experience. If I want someone, I go for it. That seems like it's the sensible strategy for anyone who wants anything.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 07:41 PM

So are you agreeing that in this SMP, to get a good man without being pressured into early sex or P&D'd, the girl should be willing to do the asking? I think that sounds oddly... reasonable.

This is really interesting, thanks for the well-thought-out comment. I've got another option though, that's more relevant to my experiences. When I'm asking someone out, it's not for sex. It's someone that I've already vetted as LTR material. Someone whose personality I've already determined is compatible, and who I'm already somewhat close to. Someone who can't just fuck and leave me, because they're already integrated into my life- ie, I've made the friendship happen first, and it would be a l…

But let's say that fucking is DEFINITELY off the table for that date. Say, she doesn't have sex with people until they're in a committed relationship. Let's say you don't want to commit to anyone, you're just playing the field right now. I'd think at that point, even if you wanted to have sex with her, you'd turn her down.

Oh, I know you're right about it. I definitely freaked a guy out once when I asked him out (he did later say yes, but it took him nearly a week to get back to me and I can only wonder about what was going on in his head the whole time). My real question is why. I think you might be right about them not knowing how to play the role- since they haven't had much practice.

But as /u/thegreasypole mentioned earlier, it doesn't make sense that a woman who targets someone would be more hypergamous than a woman who just takes the man who is assigned for her. If anything, the woman in an assigned relationship would be more likely to seek someone else than the one who got a choice.

Well, for starters, there's never a guarantee of getting laid. But let's assume that she's a good girl who doesn't ever have sex on the first, or even second date, and he knows it. I think there's still a huge benefit that he could get- spending time with her, companionship, and figuring out if they like each other enough to start a relationship. If you're throwing out all girls who won't fuck you on the first date, then you're limiting your pool of potential LTRs and ensuring that you only date…

Because sex isn't necessarily the offer. I'm not really talking about people asking a guy to go home with them at 2am when the bar's about to close. I'm talking about your nice classmate saying "Do you want to go to dinner at 7pm on Friday". If men's standards are so different from sex to relationships, it's fully plausible that she's a girl that's somewhere between those thresholds.

I guess I just don't buy that only people who say the words "will you go out with me" are 'active' and the people who don't are 'passive'. It's more complicated than that, imo. That's a very fair point. I was thinking about the scenario where you're asking someone who may or may not be interested in you if they'd like to go on a date. Rejection sucks, for sure. It hurts. It's painful. But that's the case for men too, and somehow they manage to get past it. So should women- resilience is a good quality to have. asking men out means that the only immediately available metric for evaluation --looks -- is the one being used Only if she's asking out a complete stranger. If she's asking out a friend, a classmate, a former coworker, then that goes out the window and she's being evaluated as a whole person.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 06:54 PM

That sounds sad, and I actually feel bad for you that she's not willing to initiate even when she knows she won't be rejected (by you). Sorry to hear that.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 06:52 PM

I think you could probably say that for men as well, not that it particularly matters. Alternatively, you could realize that people could turn someone down for any variety of factors. Maybe she gets rejected because the guy she asks is in a relationship, or gay, or only likes asians or redheads, or wants someone who is a fellow video game enthusiast to play with. Women get rejected when they ask guys out too, even if they "objectively" have the same level on looks.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 06:51 PM
2

I wouldn't say that's true. Because I very much don't even want to be approached by strangers. Call it pickyness, call it "oneitis", but in general when I'm on the market, there's a specific person that I want, and there isn't a substitute. I don't think that speaks to my SMV. (Although, by another thread, I've heard that being white, young, skinny, and from a coastal city means that I get to ignore all the "rules" anyway)

A female willing to take any guy assigned to her by an external source seems to me to be less choosy, and more open to other males.... Than a female fixated on one guy and hunting him down. For sure! That really boiled down a lot of what I'm thinking, and what puzzles me about this whole issue.

But this has nothing to do with sluts. A woman who selects a man and goes after him, and goes on to marry him and has a lifetime n of 1 is definitely not a slut. A woman who never asks a man out but says yes to 100 who ask her would be.

/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 05:20 PM

I guess that could be a reasonable answer. That's not in my list of criteria, so I can't get into that mindset, but I could see where some women would prioritize that over other specifications.

If I gave up after two rejections I would still be a Virgin Exactly! Me too. It took a lot of learning on my part to not turn into a desperate creepy stalker when I liked someone, and learned to ask them out in a way that isn't off-putting. My failures as a 14 year old shouldn't define my dating strategy forever, and I feel bad for someone who let that happen to the point where she's lost all ability to choose.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 05:15 PM

That's true. The first few times I got rejected were AWFUL. But you find someone new, and sometimes they say yes, and then it's amazing.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 05:14 PM
3

Why? Because men aren't interchangeable. Because maybe you want that specific one, and can't mind-control him into asking you. I think it's very necessary.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 05:13 PM
1

"if you ask guys out, you look desperate and slutty"-faction That argument actually makes sense to me. The person doing the asking DOES sacrifice some of the power, and can seem desperate if it's done wrong. I wonder now what the best way that a woman who wants a relationship with a specific guy COULD ask him out without risking that signal that she's desperate. (Slutty can easily be rebuffed by having a low n-count, not putting out right away, and being fairly modest.)
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 05:12 PM

I'd think the woman passively accepting someone's proposition would have lower standards than the woman who actively picks the one she wants.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 05:10 PM
2

That's a decent point that I hadn't really thought of. I guess you can prove SMV in other ways- I'd say a lot of female SMV is pretty obvious between looks and demeanor. Taking that to my job example, though, I don't think anyone faults someone for applying. I guess in a way it says that you're "not good enough to be recruited", but I'd say it just makes you look choosier- that the companies recruiting you aren't up to your standards.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/15 05:09 PM

I guess I could see how fear could control someone like that. But the upside of being accepted by someone I'm really interested in is the dream, and you can't get that without putting yourself out there.

I'd way prefer the chance of rejection to dating someone I wasn't interested in. Option 3 seems like it would only work on the wild off-chance that someone I was crushing on ALSO took interest in me and then asked me out before I got a chance to.

That freezer full of meat is good for ordinary meals (acquaintances, friends), but for that one special meal (actually dating someone) you bet your ass I'm going to be down at the butcher's shop buying some lamb tenderloins. It's too important a decision to make based on the random stuff in my freezer. why go through the nerve-racking process of doing it? Because that way I know that I get what I'm looking for.

I guess I just never got that "basic human instinctive urge" or any feeling that it's wrong other than that it's socially unusual. One guy I asked out a few years ago was definitely a little freaked out and didn't know how to respond- I'm pretty sure he'd never been asked out before which was honestly surprising to me. Like everyone else (of either sex), I'm afraid of rejection, but that shouldn't stop anyone. I'm afraid of flying, but I'm not going to cancel my vacation plans over it.

Sure, I'd assume it goes both ways. The person doing the asking can get higher quality than the person waiting. It's like jobs, you can passively wait for a headhunter to recruit you, or you can figure out the one you want and apply for it. I'd guess for most people, the proactive option is going to bring them more happiness and more of what they want.

I actually think that's great. I know you're being sarcastic, but I love being the asker, because I know I'm attracted to the person. Sure, rejection sucks, but the wins when someone you like says yes can be incredible.

Toxic femininity is when pushing yourself to the extremes of the female gender role hurts the woman.

No. It's toxic when it hurts the person themself. I'd say toxic masculinity would involve the suppression of emotions, a loss of work-life balance, and low self worth due to a constant need to prove oneself.

The idea that to be feminine you can't be smart or successful. That you have to be a wallflower and wait for people to drop opportunities in your lap. Passivity, not being proactive. Femininity, at an extreme, turns you into an object to be acted upon instead of a person with agency.

Yup

I take sex very seriously, so to me it's something that should only be done with someone you love. If someone had a high count, that would imply an inconsistent view to mine and would be a red flag unless the person had changed a lot since that period. Male or female, I see nothing wrong with a late virginity and I see a promiscuous person as incompatible.

Just did, new post. Kind of excited to see what everyone else has to say on that one. (For the record, as a woman very happily in a relationship with someone I outearn, I definitely don't believe in AWALT either)

So do lesbians get out of every AWALT?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/15 03:33 AM

I definitely agree, they're playing a numbers game. The question though was whether -all- women were like that, and even they would say no.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/15 02:13 AM

So... Spinning plates is great for the person in the middle? Sounds reasonable, unless you're seeking a monogamous, one-love, us vs the world type of partnership.

No. Some women are lesbians. Some like /u/coratoad like Asian virgins. Some like teddy bears. Some women are naturally dominant and like a submissive man. Personally, I haven't found myself attracted to the "chad" type. Some women are. I think even redpillers know that there are exceptions, which is why me and many of the other women at ppd get constantly told we're "outliers". Moral is, nawalt.

Lifting, building robots, juggling, coding. Planning fun romantic surprises. Quit my World of Warcraft subscription a little while ago because it was destroying my productivity, but I've got a bunch of raid-geared level 100s there. I play too much Hearthstone though regardless, and I'm damn good at Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I've been working on getting into meditation and tai chi but it's kind of an uphill struggle.

That's possible. But i don't really care what others are really thinking about my looks, and I definitely don't put any real effort into it. When I have to wear makeup for job interviews etc, it always just feels weird to me. It's just not the sort of social value that matters to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/15 03:45 AM

I don't want to hook up with people. Sex comes after love for me, and love comes after deep friendships. I'm not afraid of missed opportunities- if someone only wanted to be with me for my body, they're not someone I want to be with.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/11/15 11:49 PM
1

I think so. I don't really put a lot of value into how much people want to have sex with me. I value my accomplishments and what I do. I want someone to love me, but I don't really feel validation from people thinking I look hot. It just seems so surface-level and I'd rather someone think I'm great to have a conversation with than that my body looks good.

Well, for the foreseeable future, my job will have me flying out Monday mornings and back Thursday night, so I'd only be in wherever I live three nights a week. It'll basically be a storage unit where I do laundry and I'll be primarily living in hotels. I'm actually pretty happy with that arrangement as opposed to owning a house where you have to deal with it every time a pipe leaks or the roof needs fixing or you just need a change of scenery and don't want to look at the same walls all the tim…

That's actually a valid point about the mom. I was assuming that the mom also had a career, albeit a "mommy tracked" one with more flexible time. If she's a stay-at-home mother, expecting her to take care of the child all on her own with no source of income and just magically find a flexible job does seem cruel.

It's completely possible for a drunk person (of either gender) to be raped. It's also very possible for a drunk person to have sex and have it not be rape. Regrets aren't rape, but someone forcing themselves on someone passed out is. It seems pretty simple.

If he didn't have time for the kid while he was married (sacrificing it for work like you mentioned), what makes you think he'll have time for the kid when he's single? The kid gets out at school at 3, are you there to pick it up? I'm not saying men aren't capable of parenting, but in your example where a man sacrificed time with his kid for work, it doesn't seem feasible to think that he'll suddenly have all that free time when he's divorced.

I actually found talking with my boyfriend about our life stories, which included all of our respective relationships, to be an incredible bonding experience. I don't see why people assume someone's past is "none of their business"- I want to hear about what shaped someone I love, and to tell the about mine. Sharing the stories of our first kisses, of what high school was like, of our first crushes and heartbreaks, how we met the people that then became hugely influential in our lives, tales of …

If somehow she's in a public place and gets hit on, she won't realize the guys are hitting on her, and if she does, she won't know how to respond in a positive way. Because it's a fine line between saying "there are less women who are interested" (true) and "all women are worse at coding than men" (false). The women who are interested and talented, and who have earned heavy-hitting jobs at Google or Valve or Blizzard or wherever aren't worse at their jobs than the men. But with a little slip of wording, the media could easily seem to imply that they are, which would cause a justified shitstorm.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/11/15 06:31 AM

As long as there isn't anything stopping a talented female coder from getting those jobs, we shouldn't be worried about the overall percentages. There are less women who want to do it, that's all. I would say that all of the women who have a job that progresses are career women. That is, pretty much all of them except for the barista, since that's more of a temporary job than a career. Maybe this would be better suited as a top-level thread, because now I'm interested in where people would draw the line. You're essentially saying that a woman with any of those jobs could be either a "career woman" or "not a career woman", and that still confuses me.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/15 07:13 PM

So it's possible that the management consultant would be more dateable than the barista?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/15 06:58 PM

Assume they're all equally physically attractive, and the same age (say, 25, but don't let that be the sticking point.) Starbucks barista, making $15/hr Kindergarten teacher, 30k/year Call center agent for Carmax, 30k Communications/PR for PepsiCo, 55k Financial analyst at Bank of America, 65k University of Miami chemistry associate professor, 70k Pilot at Delta, 80k Software engineer at…

Absolutely yes. I fall for people who are my close friends, and there's just a moment in the friendship where something clicks and they become attractive. It usually baffles my other friends, who will ask "what do you even see in ____?!". I've never really gone for someone conventionally attractive, and never made a friend in hopes of it turning into something more. Who I wind up attracted to surprises even me!
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/15 05:24 PM

I think it's more that asexuals are looking for someone with a specific trait (not wanting sex) whereas omegas are looking for someone more generally compatible. I think they'd have more luck finding friends and potential romance with something like meetup to find people with common interests rather than a forum where people whine about not getting sex all the time.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/15 04:43 PM
4

Well I think that the problem is that incels/omegas aren't looking for other incels/omegas. Asexuals ARE looking for other asexuals. So a place that gathers asexuals is way more likely to set up good matches than a place that gathers omegas.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/15 04:34 PM

Not at all. As I said in another comment, there are places where these men congregate and where she should start looking if she does want to date. For example, asexuality.org and their forums, and their meetups. Just because she has a rare thing she's looking for doesn't mean it's impossible.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/15 03:59 PM
4

But the lucky part is that she doesn't just have to stumble across one. There's places like asexuality.org where they congregate online, there are meetups. Just like anyone who's looking for something specific, there are places to go.

It really should be! Planning romantic surprises is so much fun and I'm sad that many people don't seem to have that drive to do it. Won't go after you if you play up your homeliness Absolutely true. I don't experience all of this daily cat calling and approaches that women tend to complain about, and that's because most of the time I'm in a hoodie and no makeup. In my experience, Valentine's Day has always been the time for both partners to provide grand romantic gestures and gifts! For last Valentine's Day, I gave my boyfriend a computer game I wrote that was based around our relationship, significant places to us, and one of his favorite novels (he loved it and spent a few weeks playing it before he beat the game!) and sent his favorite chocolates to his office. I definitely don't think it should be a one-sided holiday!

I agree that both sexes love it. And I agree that the girl isn't "giving away" anything. I don't think sex should be seen as something shameful or dirty. I think it's important as an expression of love and intimacy- closeness, not "sloppy". I guess in that sense I don't care about anyone "getting laid", I care about sex as a vehicle for sharing deep emotions.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/11/15 04:16 AM
3

Unless she didn't hook up or have ONS's in college at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/11/15 01:07 AM
1

That sounds totally reasonable; I wouldn't really want someone who was hooking up or having ONS's.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/11/15 01:06 AM
7

That goes both ways. As a woman who puts a lot of value on sex, I'm not interested in a guy who "spins plates", has one night stands, or otherwise takes a cavalier attitude to it.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/11/15 07:52 PM
2

Or simple introversion. I don't want to hug strangers, why would I want to get naked with one?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/11/15 07:50 PM
5

I'd think teaching them that it IS a big deal would be the reason that drunk sex counts. It's a big deal so it's not something to take lightly or do while drunk. Exceptions apply- if you're with an LTR and decide to sit in your room and get drunk for the experience of drunk sex, that's way different than picking a stranger because you're drunk. Anyway, sex is important, don't trivialize it by doing it drunk.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/11/15 05:43 PM
0

I agree; honestly the only thing that would bother me would be something too big that it's painful; which for me is right around average. I'm pretty petite, so I'd want someone to match. Then again, I've also dated women in the past so I know sex can be great even with no penis.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/11/15 02:25 PM

I still think that absolutely everyone should define themselves by what they do.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/11/15 02:16 PM

The only time I wear makeup is for job interviews because someone decided that looks "professional". Or costumes, but for some reason I'm guessing peeling zombie faces isn't what you're complaining about. And I'm not going to wear shoes that hurt. In any case, I agree that those things are pretty ridiculous as expectations, but if some people like it, who cares? Don't like it, don't do it.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/15 11:18 AM
6

Yes.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/15 08:00 PM
1

Does that mean I should start giving my number as 1/3 to 1.3 people (depending on definition) so that you can appropriately extrapolate?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/15 01:20 PM
3

And even peck kisses! Would not do that with dad.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/15 01:15 PM
1

I feel like this was one of the most contentious parts of that thread I made; whether kissing does or doesn't count. Whether it requires tongue to count or not. And then it starts going in weird directions; if I have to peck someone in a play, does that add to my N? Am I one n sluttier the night the understudy comes on?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/15 01:05 PM
2

See that seems to be an odd metric because, for example, I don't kiss my dad on the cheek, but if someone kissed me on the cheek I don't think I'd add that to my n-count. That also depends on the family- I know some people give relatives closed-mouth pecks on the mouth, but that definitely isn't something I'd do. Would my number include those, but the person who is more kissy with their family not include those?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/15 01:03 PM
6

If you've attracted someone to you who is primarily interested in your looks and money, then yeah, they might be shallow people who would leave when you don't have that anymore. I think that's one of the reasons I don't wear makeup- I wouldn't want to draw in someone who is attracted to a front I can't keep up. I want someone who loves me for me; and that person isn't going to leave over stress.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/15 12:58 PM
2

If someone keeps a daily journal, it's possible they could have an accurate count. I've been journaling since before I became sexually active; I could hypothetically go back and find exactly how many TIMES i've had sex within my relationships. It doesn't seem totally implausible to me that someone could have a record of the people.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/15 02:59 AM
12

So if I learned one thing from the thread I made a few months ago about how to calculate n-count (https://www.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/3aav5r/how_do_you_calculate_someones_ncount/) it's that nobody has a clue what counts, and everyone disagrees. There were guys who counted kissing. People who only counted opposite-sex behavior. People who only counted PiV. People who thought anal counted differently depending on whether or not the girl was also having PiV. People who thought certai…

And that's not right- we should be fighting against those kinds of restrictions too instead of retaliating by going after abortions.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/11/15 12:21 PM
1

Sure, I think it's because they're only measuring worth as fuckability, not as how much they can contribute to society. But then again, they also tend to value a man's worth by how many women he can have sex with, and I think that's a pretty lousy metric for worth too.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/15 08:50 PM
2

Maybe we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. What spurs me to have sex is getting closer emotionally with someone I'm in love with. In 2 of my 3 LTRs, reproduction wouldn't have even been possible because they were female. Reproduction clearly wasn't influencing the drives- closeness and intimacy was. I get that people have sex for different reasons, and maybe even most people ARE having that view- but viscerally it just doesn't click with me.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/15 07:10 PM
1

Thanks! I actually do those things, and appreciate your reformulation!
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/15 07:04 PM

Ok, maybe most women would be more into it. I know that for me, I don't tend to get "swept up in the energy", I tend to feel overloaded and claustrophobic when people are getting rowdy and excitable. But then again, I don't go to parties, and I'm staying home for Halloween by choice. Extroverted, cocky, overconfident people just don't gel well with me.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/15 06:16 PM

We're overpopulated, none of that is relevant to today's society.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/15 06:14 PM

Sure, but we were talking about the concept of external value. Many of the projects I work on never get seen by anyone else; games I write, robots I build, endless business plans for startups that aren't viable yet. I don't think external validation is a good reason to do things- but I also think that recognition for achievements is way more meaningful than recognition for existing.

I believe my value lies entirely on what I can accomplish and the good I can bring to society. I'm not even sure I ever want to have kids- but I know that I have value and your naturalistic arguments aren't going to shake that.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/15 06:11 PM

Well I think "basic worth" is different from SMV. Two women of equal physical attractiveness may have equal SMV, but the one who runs a chapter of the American Red Cross is doing a hell of a lot more for society than the waitress, and I'd argue she has more worth.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/15 03:17 PM
14

Why not go out and build/invent/conquer something yourself? That's my plan! But redpillers tend to tell me that even if I invent something great, my value will still be far more measured by who I marry and if I have kids than those accomplishments. Whatever.

The sexbot issue is seriously overblown. I don't care if a guy owns a fleshlight, a realdoll, or even a sexbot- that would be like a guy who was upset at a girl for owning a cat and giving it emotional love. It makes no sense. It's not another person, it's not cheating, and it's not going to replace human interaction for most people.

Ick. He lost me at his weird stripper dance at the beginning, and just got more annoying as he kept breaking the fourth wall and calling out specific people in the audience (and even bringing one up onstage!). Now, I don't really like stand-up comedy, so I probably wouldn't even be in that audience, but if I was, I'd hope to be far in the back, completely unnoticed, and would in no way want to meet that tool afterwards. Maybe he's a good person and is just portraying a stage persona, but the sta…

I've learned that being supplicating reads as needy and desperate when dating either men or women. It's just not a successful dating strategy no matter who you are or who you're trying to land. Everyone likes a little challenge.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/15 04:15 AM
2

I would challenge that. You need both partners to create a kid, the woman isn't inherently more worthy. And a woman who is either infertile or voluntarily childless doesn't seem to me to have less worth than any other woman. I'm going to value someone by their accomplishments, not their ability to add yet another mouth for this overpopulated world to feed.

Yeah, in my defining n-count thread a while ago, lots of guys weren't even counting sex between women in her n-count, which shocked me. Tons of dick-centric n-count definitions.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 11:17 PM

I've just tended to fall for my close friends in the past; gender hasn't played into it. I don't really viscerally understand the concept of sexuality aside from as a subset of someone's "type". Some people prefer red hair, some people prefer women. Since I don't find strangers attractive, and my ltrs have been incredibly different from each other, it's hard to know what my type is other than "nerdy", which has been a common thread.

Some bisexual women.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 07:26 PM
2

As I've said in a few other comments, if he doesn't want an activity, it's fine to exclude it. What I'm taking issue to is the idea that he'd nix someone for -trying- something, because then he's going to only get the people who aren't interested in being exploratory. Like Atlas was saying earlier, there's a difference between "having a fetish" (totally fine to exclude in my book) and having non-vanilla sex sometimes. And what's worse is if he's trying to exclude anyone who has ever experimented…
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 07:23 PM
2

Sure. If he literally never wants to take part in an activity, then it's fine if someone who's done that activity is excluded. But it seems more like he'd be saying "I don't want a man who's been pegged, because then they're less husband material... but I want to then peg him to prove that I can make him do what I want."
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 07:19 PM
4

So after your first, it's all downhill from there?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 07:17 PM
4

Then we're in agreement. He said it was a dealbreaker for someone to have even TRIED non-vanilla sex. That was my problem. I have no problems excluding people who have fetishes- it's a huge problem if someone needs something specific to have sex that the other person isn't interested in.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 07:17 PM
2

Actually it doesn't. Bisexuality =/= nonmonogamy.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 06:45 PM

If he said he wanted virgins, I wouldn't be having this argument.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 06:44 PM

just trying to clear up where the confusion may have come from.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 06:34 PM
3

How so? In an example I gave in another comment, what about a woman whose first sexual experience was with a long-term boyfriend, and they were together for many years. Is the fact that they had a varied sex life an indicator of character? Or is it only an indicator of character if they break up?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 06:28 PM
2

Sure. But if you're with a woman who has and vows to never do those things, even if she's turned on by you, she's still probably not going to want to start doing those things with you.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 06:26 PM
3

Sure, but you're still looking for a sort of purity within sex as a sign of "character". You're telling me a guy never wants to feel the thrill of doing something dirty with his wife?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/15 06:24 PM
3

I'm not arguing with the lesbian/bisexual/group sex parts of it. All of those involve another person, which means that it's not something you could do within your relationship. What I'm opposed to is the setting of arbitrary boundaries for the sexual outlet within a relationship. If two people are close and in love, it doesn't make sense to be prudish about acts, and it limits the scope of things the two of you can do. He's essentially looking for someone who has put up a whole bunch of walls an…

They break up after four years together. At 23, with n=1, she's back on the market. But, in their three years of sexual activity together, they didn't want to just do the same thing every time. Somewhere mid-year two, they started experimenting with blindfolds and feathers, spanking, tying her hands to the headboard wit…

Sure, if /u/pembayliss is fine with lights-off missionary forever, power to him. I just don't think that he is. Every system is perfectly designed to achieve exactly the results it gets. He's designed a system to capture boring girls. If he wants those results, his system is perfect.

What I'm saying is (unless you've found a virgin) that if you're ruling out everyone who's worn a blindfold during sex, she probably won't be willing to do it with you. No partiers / heavy drinkers No strong religious convictions I want to earn more than my partner No Asexuals / severely repressed sexuality No people with interest in casual sex. Ah, I was thinking more along the lines of acts, not people, like "I always wanted to try oral" or "I always wanted to try role playing" or "Blindfolds sound fun". Would you agree that if the unresolved fantasies are based on acts instead of people, they become opportunities instead of red flags?
/r/TheRedPill28/10/15 04:08 PM

No No No; I think it happens to other women because they pick party boys instead of ones with real shared interests and compatibility No, and I don't know if or why that happens to people. Usually no. Sometimes I think it would be cool, and kind of a milestone life experience; but the rest of the time I realize that I'm barely capable of taking care of myself, and I don't think I'd be a very good mother. I definitely wouldn't right now- I can't even remember to water plants, much less take care of a human. I might grow into the idea as I grow up. I think that's exactly why I've done all of the asking for the relationships I've been in. I'm not going to date someone I don't care deeply about. There are plenty of people in the world to keep the place (over)populated. There aren't that many people who can make great scientific discoveries. Yes, actually, I'd say it does. When I'm not in a relationship (or about to begin one by having developed feelings for someone), I don't have any desire for sex, mostly because the idea of sex without love repulses me and there isn't a person I love at the time. That seems fine, but a lot of redpillers seem to expect a completely devoted girlfriend that they can next at any moment. And they want to be on the pedestal while doing everything they can to keep her off it. As long as both people are equally invested, I'm not having a problem with it. Although I do think there's such a thing as taking it too far, for example in extremely codependent couples.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/10/15 11:34 PM

I would not think a person is mature enough to have sex if s/he's not mature enough to talk about it. If I weren't comfortable saying no to someone, I wouldn't put myself in a position of being alone with them. I'm not saying that anything that happens would be her fault; it would really be more of a miscommunication than anything where someone was blameworthy. But if she can't say no, in my opinion, she can't say yes either. So being in that situation is inherently a bad idea.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/10/15 10:34 PM

Or unless she's legitimately not interested in constant socialization. There are, amazingly enough, people with other priorities than meeting people. There are people who hate being around groups of strangers. There are people who don't like loud places. I have literally never heard the word ostentatious used as a compliment. It brings to mind someone who thinks he's all that because of his money. Also even if he wasn't being a dick about it, I'm the type of person who would feel inadequate if I had way less than my partner. Since I'm not mega-wealthy, dating someone who was would make me feel in debt, or lesser, and I'm not into that. I'd way rather it be at most equal, at best with me having the ability to spoil him somewhat.

I still don't understand the idea of knowing within 5 minutes about whether I'd have sex with someone. If I had to make a snap judgment like that, the answer would be no every time. I am definitely not speaking for all women here, but for me, it takes months of knowing someone before I'm close enough to them to start feeling that spark.

it's better to cast a wide net than go for a small group of fetishists Is it? Sure, you're more likely to find someone but not necessarily someone who makes you happy. I think if you're someone who is very appealing to a small group of people, it would be better to target those people than to change your offering to be more generic. Segment the population, market yourself to the niche. I think that would make way more sense especially in this case.

Your therapist is dead wrong. Relationships work for the benefits of both parties, and relationship problems can come from anywhere. Also, I think it's on both people to be as good as they possibly can be to the other person- neither person should be allowed "shitty behavior", and neither person should be expected to take on the entire responsibility for the other person's happiness. Each person should be completely self-sufficient, both financially and emotionally, before being in a relationshi…

I'm honestly sorry to hear that. It must suck to not be able to trust people and to think that people only care about you for what you can give them. I hope someone someday manages to break that worldview for you and show you what it feels like to legitimately be cared for.

I think the difference is learning "what" versus "why". A history type subject seems descriptive and limited- this is what happened. A science is exploratory- you learn the foundations of why things work the way they do and then you can discover new things about how the world works. So personally I value the sciences more than art history. But I also don't see that as gendered; there are men who study art history and women in biochem and I don't see either of them as being disingenuous.

...what? If being alone is the opposite of being a woman, then I guess i just lost my woman card, 'cause I love being alone. The part I dread most about the idea of marriage is the fact that I'd have to have someone in my space all the time. Living alone rocks. No intellectual curiosity? Total bull. Lots of women are becoming research scientists, astronauts, entrepreneurs. Sure, there are lots of women studying pretty worthless majors (as are men), but at any school you'll find women in the chem…

Wow, if all you're offering is the material goods, I can't see why someone would want to marry you either. I'd rather make my own money, hire a maid, and have both people share the child rearing and the feelings of family love. The way you're framing what you and she would have to offer would essentially be you hiring a live-in sex maid more than having a relationship.

General routine building; right now I'm doing something very similar to the 16 Habits excel spreadsheet except I've gotten more granular to make sure I also brush my teeth and wear sunscreen and stuff. And that kind of response is what closes kids off from talking to their parents and makes them get their sexual advice from the Internet. I think a way healthier response is to be open to talking about concerns teenagers may have instead of letting them get misinformation everywhere else.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/10/15 11:33 AM

It really depends on the relationship you have with your parents. At 16, I was able to talk to my mom about anything, including sexual issues- and that's a very valuable resource for a kid. Way better than, for example, asking the Internet.

Both include dying without the fulfilling experience, because the fulfilling experience wouldn't just be a penis in a vagina, it would be the merging of two people who love each other. In either option A or B, you're not getting that. So I would definitely choose to never have sex than to only have sex with someone I didn't love.

Totally could. I've been very surprised by who I find myself wanting to be with. I think I'm not very good at separating feelings of deep friendship from love- every time I have a deep, caring best friendship I wind up developing feelings for the person a year or two down the line. So I think that if I managed to forge a close platonic bond with a "fat bastard", based on my past experiences I would probably wind up falling for him eventually.

What I was trying to say with the second part of my comment was that there is no physical characteristic that in someone I don't know would be sexually attractive. I don't find, as a class of people, brown hair or red hair or muscles or fatness or tallness or shortness or anything attractive as a group. Well, I'm not sure that I believe in the concept of "character", and I don't think sex is a positive or negative morally. But I do think that a high number, for either, reflects an attitude about sex that I don't agree with. I'm actually vaguely on board with this, especially in the cases where the biological father is irresponsible and would be a bad influence on the kid growing up. If a woman got knocked up by some clod that was not someone she had selected to really be a father for the kid, and then he was demanding custody (and therefore influence over the child's upbringing), I could see that as being very upsetting for her and not worth any money that he was paying. I still, respectfully, believe that there are some women who will sleep with people that they find physically attractive but who they don't like as people they would want to hang out with or have a conversation with. What comes to mind easiest is the stereotype of the dumb jock. I don't see it as respect if a woman is sleeping with a man whose intelligence (or other personality features) she's looking down on. I'm not sure that finding someone sexually attractive implies respect. The existence of /r/trashyboners seems to prove that- guys finding girls physically attractive but also trashy at the same time. As one of those women who said recently that I prefer lower n-count men, I just wanted to point out that I have zero problems with virgins. I'd guess most of the women who share my worldview also don't- what we have a problem with is the anger and loathing for all women that comes from people who self-label as "incel". Why would we want to sleep with someone who hates us? Lack of experience isn't the problem, it's attitude.

Interesting. I guess I can see that, but then again a lot of the things that people do for validation (particularly about their bodies) are things that make me feel slimy. And generally, it's seen that way around here too; girls getting called out for attention whoring, posting selfies, going to clubs in skimpy outfits. Ok, good, glad we agree that women can have sex with someone they're attracted to and have that be a positive thing. I'd say asking her out that soon could backfire. Ask her out when she seems receptive to it. Even if a guy was cute, if he asked me out after barely knowing me, I'd say no. (Back when I was single). If he waited a while and got to know me, and I realized that I liked him too, I'd have been much more open. Other than that, awesome advice- pretty much how I've gotten all of my relationships, just at a slower and more comfortable pace.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/10/15 10:55 AM

That's a really depressing worldview, which I definitely do not believe is true. Not everyone is attracted to the same things. There's no way to rate people in a way that everyone would agree. One man's 4 is another man's 9. If you're only attracted to very conventionally attractive people, it may be harder to find one that's interested in someone who isn't conventionally attractive, but I'd guess that has to do with putting herself into the societal expectations more than anything else.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/10/15 10:51 AM

Or that, on average, less attractive men are the ones using okcupid.

Because your categories for something being cheating are that the woman is attracted, and that sex happens. I said that can happen in a marriage, and your response was that sometimes attraction isn't present in a marriage. That doesn't address the times that it is, which still satisfies your three rules- unless you're saying that no women are ever attracted to their husbands.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/10/15 01:32 AM

So if a woman is attracted to her husband and has sex with him, that's cheating and bad. If a woman isn't attracted to her husband but has sex with him anyway, that's fine. Got it.

I think a healthy relationship should be able to discuss anything. If one of us wants sex (usually me) and the other doesn't, our typical response is "I'm not really in the mood for that, but I'm open to being convinced" and then the one who wants it more will try to get the other enthused about the idea. But if it's really "NO" then there's an underlying reason that we'd need to explore (like the time he'd hurt himself on a zipper and definitely wasn't up for play until it healed. It was a simp…

I know you're being facetious here, but I hardly think that me buying my boyfriend chocolate is anything like cheating :-P Ps Wouldn't a real "chad" not need to buy a girl dinner?

Can't claim to speak for bp, but if your definition of manipulation is "doing an action to intentionally evoke some emotional reaction in another person", then it wouldn't be a bad thing. Of course, that then means that every time you give a birthday present or send a sweet text message to make your SO smile, that's manipulation. I don't define manipulation that way, but if you do, then sure.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/09/15 01:58 PM

That sounds like what I do! Apparently red thinks it's manipulation, guess we should stop spoiling our men :-P

I've accidentally hurt his feelings sometimes with things that I've said. In the case I remember most recently, I realized he was hurt, apologized, bought him his favorite chocolate that I had delivered to him (we're long distance), and then dressed up in what I know he likes very best and had a sexy Skype call. He felt much better. It's my usual strategy when I screw up; sincere apologies, food, sex. Edit: and I remember what I said/did, wind up writing a long-winded reflection on it in my jour…

But by your metric, the woman who's never had piv could have anal sex with 5 different guys before becoming as slutty as the woman who does both with her LTR. That seems like the opposite of your intention.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/15 05:31 PM
12

That's a lot of assumptions about the college experience. I'm a woman who double majored in math and chemistry, and didn't drink a drop of alcohol or go to a party in the four years I was there. I can see how people who take it as a four year party haven't gotten value out of it, but that's the same for the men as well as the women who waste their four years.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/15 05:12 PM
1

So let's say a guy is a virgin, and his first sexual experience is doing his girlfriend in the ass. He's now had .5 partners. A week later, they have piv, so he's now at 1. The next week, they do anal again, and whoa, he's now at 2.5! It doesn't really make much sense to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/09/15 01:52 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate24/09/15 05:31 PM

Well, if he additionally made out with two women, I'd say he cheated 10 times. My definition of cheating does not match my definition of sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/09/15 05:01 PM
1

So a woman who has had intercourse with two men, had oral with one woman, was fingered by another guy, humped a girl's hand without penetration, and gave three blowjobs would have an n-count of 8?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/09/15 03:30 PM
1

Ah, I somewhat get you. But "Touching penis" still seems limited. For example, if he's fully clothed but stimulates her with his hands, that seems like it would count for you. Not to mention women who have had same-sex experiences, no penises involved. I think your theory needs slight revision, but is overall pretty decent :)

I mean I just generally tell people "between 1 and 4 depending on what you count" and let people make their own decisions about what's meaningful to them. If they go "ok, four" that doesn't make me feel any worse about myself. Should I be saying "between 1 and 6" to include the two boys I kissed in middle school? He'd have the same reaction if you were making out with the guy in the car, but few people here would say that added to their n's. If a guy was going around saying his n was 20 because he'd made out with 20 girls at parties, pretty sure he'd be laughed at.

Many of my college friends are now married and have kids. I saw a bunch of vibrant, interesting people become essentially their husband's domestic servants. They spend all day at work, and then all evening catering to their husbands, and lost track of their hobbies, interests, and friends. It's terrifying. I don't intend to stay a wage slave. I don't have aspirations in middle management forever. I'm shooting for the top.

I think I'm ok with the risk, to be honest. I'm much more scared of not making a good living, of not fulfilling my potential, and of having my identity be subsumed by a relationship than of being alone. Well, this sounds like it's about to get theological. I believe that purpose is something entirely self-created, which I just realized that you don't. You seem to have a really deterministic view of the world, and that some people are put here for the purpose of teaching others lessons. I'm not religious, so this argument isn't really holding water to me. You make your own destiny. The idea that some people should just give up because they're not "destined" for greatness is anathema to everything I believe in. RedPill spends their life teaching people how to date the prom queen, to fight that "destiny", so I'd think you'd be on board with me here when I say that if you're living in your mom's basement and working at Burger King (barring severe disability), you're not living up to your potential. Right, I definitely think she went about things the wrong way. If she honestly didn't want a man but wanted a kid, then a sperm donor and a nanny would have been fine. Since she DID want a man, she definitely went down the wrong road since she sees him as completely expendable.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/08/15 06:50 PM

There's a big place in the middle between "all women are only golddiggers" and "no woman would date a man for money." Some women do. I, personally, think it's gross.

Ok, I think we've hit a fundamental disagreement here, then. I don't believe that some people's "purpose" is to "get a shit job, live in mom's basement and play video games." I don't think anyone is destined to failure, and I do consider that a failure. I think less than half of your list are aspirational goals, and I definitely don't consider them all equal. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of single 25 year old male investment bankers who are miserable because they're spending 100 hours a week with their nose to the grindstone, doing immensely stressful work and not even getting the time to spend their hard-earned money on the things and experiences they want. But sure, only women can be stressed out by their jobs.

Wow, that was a really interesting read. Although, I think one of her major complaints- that the husband's best purpose is to take care of her kids so that she can get a break sometimes, would be even better suited by hiring an au pair. That would probably make her life SO much better.

To be fair, most of the men that I know in those careers are also incredibly miserable. Edit: I'm not sure yet what my "life purpose" is yet, but it's definitely not just to be a mother. What constitutes a screwed up life to you, in that case? I get it with respect to bad career decisions or something like alcoholism, but my career is fantastic and I don't touch substances. What would screw up my life by not being married? I have a lot of bad personal habits as I mentioned in another comment (ie waiting a month to get around to laundry, having a sink full of dishes- mostly things a maid will fix once I bother to hire one), but I wouldn't call that a "screwed up" life.

I think you're being somewhat pedantic about the word "should". You seem to think that "should" always implies morality, and that the pills are completely amoral. Well, that's why TRP think they don't date down- I'd say that a woman already in an LTR that's "down" wouldn't suddenly lose the attraction because of a ceremony and some papers. Clearly this guy's aunt wasn't dried up by it.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/08/15 02:16 PM
5

I'd say pretty much all of society thinks that it's weird when a woman doesn't get married. I think even TRP would think there's something seriously wrong with a woman like that. What power does a man hold when he can no longer be "the gatekeeper of commitment" and dangle that over her head? What kind of woman doesn't want her "beta bucks"? It may not be a moral prescription for women to want to be married, but it's certainly seen as an expectation.

Gaming is one of the many areas in which women get to have the best of both worlds. I'm not so sure about that; I feel like even for women, gaming can be seen as a waste of time. That being said, I can't imagine ever wanting to have casual sex or gangbangs or even traveling much at all. I'm learning to code. I'm reading books. I'm lifting weights and developing healthy habits and learning to be more productive with my time instead of wasting it on World of Warcraft. I don't think "findin…

The second one kinda just seems like him having close female friends, so I guess the first would be worse. But that would probably change if it was one woman that he was in love with but just didn't sleep with; that would be a legitimate threat and solidly worse.

And the girl who'd kissed no boys would be best of all?

In not sure which would be worse, but I wouldn't count an emotional affair as an addition to his n-count :-P

See our discussion about kissing in an earlier comment :-P Is your n the number of people you've kissed? Another commenter mentioned emotional affairs too, and that gets even messier!

So to stay appropriately wife material, should the woman deny her husband anal to avoid becoming slutty and thus less attractive to him? Would it impair her ability to pair-bond with him in the way that sleeping with an additional 1.5 people would? Not making fun of you, just trying to explore the idea :)

So the cock carousel is a state of mind, not a number?

This is a pretty cool way of looking at it, thanks for putting the effort in! My one concern with your method is, if I think of the redpoll ideal; that of the woman who is a virgin before marriage and then does anything he wants (presumably including anal), this would put her at a 2.5 which seems high for the devoted wife archetype. Would the context of a long-term relationship change it?

There was just a huge thread talking about people's n-counts from people who definitely cared, making limits like "no more than five" or "ideally 0-2"... Just trying to figure out their mentality of what they're counting in that :)

Ah, I'd count that as cheating so I guess that's a definition argument for later! Where would you draw that line?

Ooh, so my n is the number of guys I've -kissed-??? :-P

Ah, so for you touching other genitals counts, but not being touched? (Ie guy fingers a girl, his count goes up by one, hers doesn't?)

Two years and counting with the current one :)

Ah, yes, because my friends are super appreciative when I do things like write them a custom computer game for their birthday or fly them across the country to see their favorite band in concert or secretly ask their mother for recipes they loved as a kid and then make them when they're feeling blue. For a friend, those sorts of things are too much effort to expend- it feels like a burden that they feel obligated to reciprocate. For people in love, they're a joy and seen as really sweet. I have …

I feel sorry for you if you think the only good thing about a relationship is sex on tap. What she loses is someone who knows her well, loves her, talks to her about her day, shares interests with, someone she can devote attention to, someone to surprise and delight- someone who makes her happy and who she can make happy. Starting over and building that kind of trust and love takes a lot of time and effort and isn't just easily replaceable like sex is.

Actually, the majority of bananas you buy in a store ARE cloned from one banana plant :) Bad example.

So wait, should they or shouldn't they sleep with the losers? The position seems pretty inconsistent.

But then how would they keep their n-count low??? :-O

That doesn't really match my experience. I'd honestly feel intimidated if I felt that my partner was "better" than me, especially if I felt like I wasn't good enough to take care of myself without them. For me, being the "worse" partner would scare me and just make me feel inadequate, which isn't really conducive to love. Ideally, we'd be equals, both self-sufficient and apathetic to status- but if I had to choose, I wouldn't want to be constantly in second place.

Easy way to stave those men off- don't wear makeup. Same concept applies. Edit: I don't have anything wrong with women who wear makeup, I just don't wear it- and amazingly enough, deal with a lot fewer people hitting on me who don't know me. I think that's a huge plus.

I really don't think that's true. I'm an introvert. I hate parties. I barely tolerate people for the most part. The idea of being alone with a stranger, much less having sex with one, carries zero appeal. It takes a lot for me to want to be romantic with someone, and in my few relationships, has always come out of slow-building deep friendships where I had zero attraction to the person when we met but it developed over time. I don't think I'm unique; I think there is a fairly large set of girls …
