Thank you for your story . I know I am not alone here. I’m still in cortisol spike hell daily , and feeling like I’m surviving by a thread . Keep it going though , nothing else I can do .

I hear you on the Grace part . Literally question if I will survive this emotionally, mentally, and financially . I really have doubts I’ll get through this whole . Ironically , if I’m destroyed by this via my stbx then nothing good comes out for my kids even. Prayers for you man . Thank you

I’ve been through divorce one with a child , this is my second divorce with children . It absolutely sucks , just nothing more to say . I pray everyday that it will get easier .

This is why I posted here . I don’t think there is anywhere else that I can be understood . I’m still reeling from my night , and yet still have to text and relate calm and child focused with an abusive human being . I’m sorry for all of us . My brain wants to make sense of this due to shock and the fear, anger , and overall disregard for my well being , which directly affects my children and even her well being too. Imagine if I was out of commission due to the stress and anxiety given to me . …

I’m right here with exact same moment tonight , complete betrayal of all that was good , for no reason except for my stbx to be in control . It’s crazy and one the worst nights of my life tonight .

Yeah divorce is a cluster , especially with kids and an unstable spouse . Life was not meant to be this hard

I’m here with you man. It sucks , you just need to separate yourself from the grief with the situation and move on. It fucking sucks though . Painful , but trust you will get through it

Worst case scenario is working making good money to be next to homeless due to divorce output of cash , real life .

I’ve unfortunately learned now a second time that there is not much upside for marriage for men specifically . My wife is going to be served this coming Monday and I can’t afford much of anything. In CA (the worst) where I live as the by far the primary earner , I will have to pay child support and have my kids 50/50, I do not think custody will be contested at all. However , tell me in what reasoning if someone can provide for themselves , and you take on half of the responsibility , still pay …

Well then that says everything about your character . Respect as the stress we endure is like 10,000 lb rock , yet rarely are understood this way . Best to you and hopefully things are better for you at least somewhat now

Really Sorry about your dog . Nobody loves you like your dog does , it’s unconditional, probably the only thing on earth except if your lucky your mom . Same story with my dog in our meeting , yet we will see how this plays out . I filed for Divorce today officially , in the pos state of CA, if my stbx wants to she could make me next to homeless financially. I am still acting in full integrity and trying to find peace in myself . I want nothing but peace , we will see as I hope this moves that w…

I know man and I’m. Barely making it . Fortunately I documented every dollar I gave her outside of bills the last two years . Also my 6 and 7 year old non coercive told me she is hiding money . I cannot confront her on this though

The men on this string are awesome . Every post I read feels helpful . As men nobody gets is EXCEPT other dads and fathers , it’s a sad truth .

I meant 10 years not 19 fyi
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 11:57 PM
3

Factually I will never let the 10 year mark hit because of the horrible family law statutes in fuck whole ca , 19 years here could mean life alimony . I’ve already documented support outside of household bills to the dollar amt over the last two years , which by mediation or even court would limit alimony . 2024 I gave her 24000 and 2025 12k approx . On top of this my children are very high maintenance, there is no way nor am I looking to , but even 50/50 shared I’ll be paying a large sum to her…

9.5 years married , or kids are 6 and 7. Sole reasons I could not tell you exactly , dysfunctional communication where the reframing on what I do is usually in the wrong for no valid reason
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 11:52 PM
3

Thank you guys nobody gets how men deal with life the support means a lot
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 07:54 PM

I’ve been using ai literally every exchange to protect myself from saying the wrong thing, and also documenting everything . I’m sure I would have already hurt myself unintentionally otherwise with some response to crazy talk from her

2

lol hilarious on the toilet seat
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 07:18 PM

I don’t I’m near insolvent and commission based sales
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 07:08 PM
2

Also good advice . However since I have been the sole financial advisor, I want to avoid court . I cannot afford an attorney , and if she gets one and he or she is a total pos , financially alone she can ask I pay her legal fees . Everything is stacked against me there . However , I will be filing in the short term after I get more documents together in the financial side if necessary
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 07:05 PM
3

Legal seperation in this shit state of CA is identical to divorce with no benefit . I’m going to file if we don’t go to mediation for filing after I get all the finances documented on my side . Having to be a fucking lawyer for myself is shit and exhausting there is no other way though .
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 07:02 PM
3

Thank you this means a lot . The stress has literally pushed me to the edge , I’m taking one step at a time . This is great advice . I have been occasionally drinking to cope , but am aware of this as a issue to be very stringent on
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 07:00 PM
4

Let me be clear , I’ve been using AI for everything, my wife who we are in the in between is a master communicator to her benefit and will reframe everything to her side and control . AI has helped me respond the right way to protect myself where I could say the wrong thing and be worse off . It’s an Amazon tool . Literally every exchange for months I copy and paste the screenshot of texts and document everything for safety .
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 06:27 PM
3

The feeling of loss and being alone is universal for men here , our sense of self dies when this happens , and all too often the burden is on us and nobody gives a literal fuck about our suffering . Do your best to stay strong
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/26 06:24 PM

Protect your own heart dude . Sorry that happened to you , it’s the worst ! Work to feel better and prayers . Recommend not going, fuck being polite

This is my second divorce with small children .My wife being a trauma laden dismissive avoidant puts me on the defense regularly . I’m smart now about the crazy pattern this entails . Divorce fucking sucks . I’ve had to be strong in myself one foot in front because I don’t know who I’m dealing with day to day with her . She is turning 45 and hormones and grief are making things hard, even when I literally make every effort to not have things not chill . Fuck, I would like I’m sure so many here ,…

Self preservation would be like my 1980’s dad who Peaced out, never paid my mom child support , and saw us sometimes . Not going to do that

This is a support group . Sorry for your troubles. As a child I went through multiple divorces with my parents , and as a father about to go through another. If your dad is truly not good then him spreading lies on this site has little to no relevance to anything . Nobody here knows your mom (most likely ) and reality is it does not matter what he says here . Mainly sorry to you . It sucks hard for kids , and I hope for grace and best outcome for you and your siblings if you have them . It’s not…

Update please read : I had chat gpt Help me write this letter and will most likely be sending it in the coming days . I did the math and even best case mediation I would need to make $100,000 more next year commission based sales JUST to break even , no savings . No extra life for myself after alimony and child support . Absolutely insane . CA is a criminal state , and I still can’t believe how men and fathers who work to death to provide while being fathers can get so fucked . It’s really tough…

I appreciate everyone’s support . Being a man can be so lonely . So these comments help . The feeling of pain in my chest is almost insufferable. I’m going to take it a day at a time right now . Btw . Lawyers are scumbags , I spent $500 for one to tell me how fucked I am .

Mid 40’s she will not admit it’s hormones or look at estrogen therapy . She was manic postpartum after the birth of our kids and a miscarriage . Can’t force her to do anything

My God, fuck therapists you need to change your profession to help men . Easier said then done, but this is factual information
/r/Divorce_Men11/12/25 06:11 PM

I don’t know who you are but you need to write a book . You took the internal dynamics and explained then so clearly it’s impressive. One thing to note is I’m a human , a man , with my own past . My triggering conflict is wanting to say fuck it , I’ve never let anyone treat me like that . Think about this , if this was a man , it would have already been blows a long time ago . We are simple , this is complex

Yes besides major health issues or death , nothing is more painful and stressful than this . Go to therapy , exercise , get drugs from your MD. Do anything you can to help yourself . Also , tell the truth to management , so at least they know .

Then they want to know why men delete themselves . I’m going to therapy , but can’t fathom a future where I can’t even afford a place to live . I’m also commissioned based sales , where the court could give a fuck if I had a bad month . I’m so beyond myself with this situation that I don’t know how to cope. Thank you for your messages .

Let me tell you that I’ve been married for 10 years and have always been in the same position as you . Not once has my wife helped with anything financial . She even started working now (her own business ) and wont contribute , it’s very challenging . I have considered divorce so many times it’s hard to count . Recently my wife is now rejecting me and going down that route of emotional separation . It’s a total mindfuck . As fathers and husbands when you are good , we carry the whole load , and …

The thoughts have definitely been there , no matter how much pain I am in I would not peace out on my kids . Thank you for your support . I appreciate this , I’ll do my best to cope . I have been through a lot of pain in my life , but this is hitting hard . There is too much stress for a long time . I know people can relate . I just have a hard time seeing positivity on any horizon . It’s lonely

I’m 46 and she is 43. So I know hormones play a huge role in this . However , I can’t just right it off like that . I hate being pushed around , I’m a man and can only “eat it” so much . Women are like this regardless, but I’m sure there are some out there where the volatility isn’t 0-100 in 2.2 second . I’ve been struggling with divorcing my wife for years . It’s a total and utter mind fuck. Men are logical and simple , I struggled with this for a very long time .

Sounds like my life in the relationship side . If the tables were turned you would be in jail . Not fair this way
