When she got too drunk to pick me and my son up coming home from an international flight. That was a clarifying event. Other than that, it was a slow and grinding realization.

Ain’t no man out there better than you or me, brother. I’ve found it way easier to bond with my kids now that I’m free to build days and around what we (kids and I) want to do.

Gorgeous young woman who lived in my building tells me she’s seen me taking care of my kids, finds it sexy as hell, and has therefore wanted to meet and fuck me for months? And then we proceed to do just that? Yeah, she was convincing! Also, there was literally no reason for her to lie. I’m also funny, nice, reasonably attractive, and in good shape, but she never mentioned those.

No doubt. But, I got laid by a much younger woman because of it. I feel you're not even acknowledging that! In all seriousness, I could give a fuck about marrying her. I mean, she was/is a fantastic person, I'm just not in any rush to marry anyone again and we were at very different stages in life.

I've had women tell me that watching men care for their kids is sexy as hell. (Ended up getting me laid by a much younger woman...) Who knew going to the park or buckling/unbuckling the little ones from their car seats was going to up my sexiness quotient?!

1) Air fryer - From frozen foods to leftovers it’s super convenient and there are forums with hints. r/airfryer 2) Instant pot - I use mine as a rice cooker, slow cooker, and pressure cooker. Rice can make fried rice the next day. Make chili or soup or spaghetti and refrigerate/freeze leftovers for the week. r/instantpot 3) get some jars and learn fermenting and/or pickling. “Sorry” for me wouldn’t work. I’ve tried that on smaller things during the marriage and it just turned into “and you admitted you were wrong!!” followed by that topic being brought up for every subsequent argument, related or not.

Took mine off permanently last summer. Has anyone sold theirs? I’d like to do so when the divorce is finalized and buy myself something with that money. I’m guessing I’ll get not much for it, even though it was expensive to purchase.

You know your details better than anyone here, so if on balance your life is better having a civil relationship with this dude (and presumably your ex) why the fuck not? You’ve got a new woman, have moved on with your life, and your kids are seeing you be an adult in what they have to know is an unusual and potentially painful situation. I can imagine you’ve got some complex emotions, though. I’ve been seeing a therapist, and it’s helped a ton. (I was an alcoholic and drank to kill them, but fuc…

Made it 13 years with a dominating woman who lost all interest in sex and threatened suicide when I told her I was leaving her. It’ll be officially dissolved in June, I’ve lived on my own since last summer, have 50% time with the kids, and my mental health hasn’t been this good in ages.

This. You want good comedy to die? Condone and explain and sympathize with someone reacting like this. Incidentally, I had Peak Dave Chapelle(!) mock my then wife and then me in the front row at a comedy show over a decade ago. I laughed, she still nurses the hurt to this day. It was a pretty solid early red flag I should have paid more attention to.

Thank you. Going to arbitration and having her tendrils into my time with the kids codified is something I’m not going to agree to. Figure the judge can rule on that if needed, but wasn’t sure how likely the judge is to say “well, that is their (kids) religion…”

Ending women’s reliance on attorneys fees means more for left over for their children and less in the hands of mostly male attorneys.

Dude, I think even a lawyer would have more questions than answers here. If she’s taken everything from you, including a house and all your worldly possessions, I think that rises to the level of consulting an attorney.

Dude, I have a four and eleven year old. Yes, people are gonna judge. I am getting out (June it’ll be official, woohooo!!) for similar reasons. STBXW is an alcoholic anti social hoarder. My family knows, but I can’t just open up and tell acquaintances that, her family sure as fuck doesn’t want to hear it, and short of neglecting or abusing our kids, it’s really nobody else’s business and would probably make me look spiteful if I told all the sordid details to friends. Two happier houses, one of …

Glad it helps, brother! Yeah, my mom asked “you didn’t think you could just stay until the kids…oh, that’s 13 years….” I’ll humor my mom. Another one that shuts shit down real quick when they say “I’m sorry” or “couldn’t you have worked it out” I just reply “I’m not sorry, I think this the absolute best thing.” Nobody’s responded other then kinda being surprised. I’m not fucking sad!! How are you gonna try to talk me into rethinking something I just told you is the absolute best thing!? If I get…

Meh. Same. None of those judging you have to live with her in an unhappy marriage. Super easy to judge in a drive by manner. I’ve begun to go with “it just wasn’t working out and I don’t want to get into it because it’s between me and her. She’s not a bad person, so I don’t feel like airing that sort of thing.” My immediate family knows, but I don’t (and neither do you) owe anyone any further explanation.

For real, right?! Women are far more interested me as a divorcing mid-40s dude with kids than they ever were when I was a fitter, handsomer, unattached twenty/thirty something. I should have gotten a dog back then, I suppose. With single moms I've only really been interested in ones who clearly have delineated and pretty concrete spheres of their lives: (1) Mom time!; (2) Not-mom time! And never shall the twain meet! Bro, divorcing dad with two kids 50%. Plenty of hot and interesting women dig dads. (Unless, against all odds, I’ve found the only ones who do.) That probably should be down the road a bit for you, though. You’ve got other things to work on now, but don’t despair or be desperate because you think nobody’ll ever want to be with you again.

It's a brute fact, friend. The "why" is irrelevant at this point. I mean, unless it's a legit thing that you should work on, which it doesn't sound like... Love on your daughter, bro! I get mine back this afternoon, and I'm looking forward to cuddling while watching something on unicorns or throwing the frisbee around. (Two distinct options, I have never been able to combine cuddling and frisbee.)

This. I picked that up here when I first started dating again. Happened upon this smoking hot and much younger babe in my building. We clicked for a minute and it was awesome. Then, some other dude came into her life she must have viewed as an upgrade. She was honest about her feelings, and to be honest, I wasn't in a place where I needed to be thinking about anything other than being happy to have screwed a young hot woman. So perhaps this follows the contemporary trend of letting a word mean whatever one wishes it to mean at that moment? Whatever, you commie fascist jerk face! And you, uh, nailed it. Divorcing dad here who had a dead bed, but it took a hell of a lot of screwing to get there!

It’s a tell her, not an ask her. My wife sounds like yours. Sex felt like jerking off with someone watching. Manipulative. Anti social. Alcoholic. Other mental health issues. (These - and more! - were things that all were getting progressively worse with time and she had no interest in addressing.) Married 12 years, together 16. Two kids who I have 50%. Divorce is finalized in June and I can’t fucking wait. Reasonably amicable so far. Did have to cut all comms with her other than childcare stuff…

Dude… STBXW tried this with me. She was (transparently) trying to emotionally manipulate me. Dead bed for a year before I eventually moved out. Divorce is final in June and she’s still trying to “connect” in various ways in the morning before exploding in rage in the afternoon in an attempt to fuck with my emotions. It’s almost comical. If we didn’t have kids I’d have long ago blocked her number. Fuck her figuratively, don’t fuck her literally.

Been on 2-2-3 since the fall with a preschooler and middle schooler. Legit great that I don’t go that long without seeing them and I get the best smiles picking them up at school. They’re doing great, and STBXW also doesn’t want to go a full week without seeing them. We’re like three blocks away from each other as well, which is mostly super handy and only occasionally annoying. It’s been a real win-win-win, honestly.

My now STBXW pulled that shit when we were dating like sixteen years ago when I tried to break up and then again last year. 20s me fell for it. 40s me saw it as the manipulative bullshit it was once she tried it when I initiated a divorce and she was trying to make me stop. “I care for you as a person, so I think that you need to see a therapist if you’re genuinely thinking of self harm. I’ll help you find one, but this isn’t changing my mind and I’m not going to humor your continued threats.” A…

lol, my unstable wife or my uber sweet mom? Easy choice. You think my STBXW would accept our son choosing his wife over her? Nope. Then why should she expect me to choose her over my mom? (Who is not toxic at all, unlike my STBXW.)

My STBX and I are kinda at the amicably disliking each other stage. I plan on allowing the kids to call her on her birthday, although I will get her at most a card. (Might have the kids paint her something.) I have no expectations for that to be reciprocated. I hear where you’re coming from. Only you know the dynamics of the relationship. I’m trying to not exactly be “friends,” but want to get to something close since I’m going to have to deal with her for at least another 14 years.

Camping and hiking with the kids is great. I got a small ping pong table to play with them as well. For me, more hiking and camping that’s not so kid friendly! Picked up a couple instruments I’ve been teaching myself. Running. Hanging out with friends and family I couldn’t while married, playing board games and cooking/eating with them. Cooking is a great hobby, you can take it so many directions.

lol, going through it for the last year. Moved out last summer. She was emotionally abusive and has substance abuse and untreated mental health issues she refuses to acknowledge or address. I was a dude suffering depression who married a woman with deep psychological issues based (partially) on abuse. Got therapy, even though she tried to interfere, got meds, and then got the fuck out of Dodge. Best decision I ever made. I can’t fix her. She prevented me from fixing myself. My (for now) wife used to put all kinds of effort into finding "fancy" new recipes that nobody liked, and would get upset that the kids didn't eat them. I have young kids, so I make simple stuff from scratch because it's cheap and just sort of branch out a meal here and there, building up our shared repertoire: I have a simple kettle grill for outdoor cooking. I hear you. I've worked for attorneys before (not in that area) and we had to produce itemized listings of what we billed for. If they're not producing that, maybe they will if you ask. (We had to do it so if we ever wanted to recover attorney's fees, we'd have the documentation, so I think it's in their interest to track it.) This assumes an hourly structure where they charge in increments.

Don’t waste money having a lawyer or paralegal check status. You should be able to do that online with a case number in a lot of places. (Which you should have.) Beyond that, I was a courtroom clerk once upon a time and answered tons of calls on status. So among the category of jobs that people needing a new start after a rough period may need the most to begin to rebuild their lives. Perfect. I’ve been doing legal/policy stuff for last 20ish years, never been asked about arrest, just convictions. (Which they’d check for anyway...)
