I know I’m bothering you in another thread but saw this and want to chime in. It sounds like you’re very objectively based, which is fine, most men are. You need to start practicing talking to people. The best way to do this is to say something to every person you meet as much as possible. If you have trouble doing this, do it with cashiers first. Just remark on an item of clothing or their hair or something. You’re going to fail, but you need to be okay with that. Theres nothing wrong with havi…

Work on just asking about surrounding things going on (I.e. have you tried their coffee? It’s seriously delicious; excuse me, is that a good book? I’ve always been curious) instead of stating your intentions. They’re going to know what your intentions are already just by you approaching them in the first place. They know they’re attractive and that guys are interested.

I mean, it was at a climbing gym if that answers your question one way or the other. The truth is that while you might be meeting resistance from these women, you might just want to adjust how you are approaching them. Some women are not going to like it, some will, but most women will respect a man who respects himself enough to approach her as another human being and to not deny himself the opportunity to try.

Yeah just throwing this out there but my fiancé now is as progressive as they come and cold approach worked on her

I’m going to go ahead and say you are generalizing trashy lady’s for alternative chicks. All of my friends are alternative and they are in no way trashy.

What’s your definition of better guys? Like more attractive? More comfortable with themselves?

Also wanted to chime in that my girlfriend wears glasses and they are sometimes more attractive than the contacts. Just gotta be real smart about your fashion choices

You sound like how my girlfriend thinks about it. She was skinny average to begin with but she start weight lifting and man does it make a difference. I would not recommend the running route as most ladies do that because they “don’t want to get buff”. Some good subreddits are r/fitness and r/bodyweightfitness

It is and it’s not. At 23 I also had trouble getting dates, but the problem is that I was focusing on the goal and not the solution. Once I started joining highly sociable communities and really working on myself, I started to get noticed. No one can see you if you’re not available to be seen. I will say, seems like people your age and mine (29) are really into using their phones to date, but honestly, you’re not going to meet quality people that way. The stories you hear where people met the lo…

This exactly. It’s very obvious from your post and your replies that your mental dialogue has suffered some issues most likely due to external trauma and you need to deal with that shit ASAP. Start going to therapy, do some journaling, pick up a new hobby, start meditating, do Yoga, do SOMETHING. One thing to keep in mind is that you are not going to feel the benefits or effects from one session of any of the above. This shit takes time and effort, but as long as you put in that effort, you’ll g…

I had a curious thought. Say you go for the kiss but she’s not into it. From your perspective, what’s a good way for a guy to recover from that? (i.e. silently understand, say your byes and walk away; explain that you thought there was something there; etc)

You’re most likely like me, I didn’t learn these things from anyone, I learned them on my own. The more I smile at people the more people talk to me. To follow that up, the more I talk to random people the more random people approach and talk to me. It causes you to carry a friendly and open posture. Last question, are you new to seddit?

I think what I'm trying to say is that those morals are based or created from these motivators, not as in they have negative morals, but that in order to be happy (i.e. survive) they need to follow these morals

So I largely appreciated your comment because I believe we're in a similar mode of thinking of finding a balance in perspectives so that they work for you, not vice versa. This is what I'm hoping to accomplish with the knowledge in this book and learning of how others interpret it. To further clarify on my parts on romanticism (and this is my fault for not clarifying before) but the author does follow his statement of moving past (not giving up, my bad) romantic ideals with that we should contin…

I guess the way I saw it is that he's not necessarily talking about the bottom 20% of women but more about the sub-conscious motivators behind what motivates women. It's like going past analyzing that you're afraid to the source of that fear, and then going even further to the causation. But I did have to realize his strategy in writing in order to come to that point.

Thanks, I appreciate your response, I'm trying to stay aware of what's occurring in my thinking and processing of situations, so I appreciate your nudge in the right direction and clarifying what stages are occurring. I'll definitely look into that book as well.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate your perspective on the matter and I think it aligns with my own or at least where I'm striving to be. I apologize, maybe I missed a term somewhere, but what exactly is an "EC"?

Personally, I've tended to live a philosophy of beginning all relationships in my life with a 100% compassion and equality for the other person in general, until they show me that I shouldn't. So it's difficult for me to transition into a mental mode of objectivity in regards to >1/2 of the population.

Hey dude, I know a lot of people have replied to you but all I want to say is that how dark your life is, is temporary and I hope you push through it. First, I know you were saying that you're bummed because you're still a sophomore in college and a virgin, so I hope it helps you to know that I didn't lose my virginity until I was about 24. Even then I just barely lost it in that I asked a friend for help. But we then dated for a year and the relationship was one of the most rewarding experience…

We ended up hanging out a lot once I got back home (I knew her from high school) and I got vibes that she liked me. Eventually I talked to her about it and said look, I don't want a relationship right now and she said she guesses she doesn't want one either so we agreed to mess around

I considered that because she was fooling around with him and got feelings for him sooo. Also, Ive had vibes that it could be that.

In truth, you kind have answered your own question. The thing that's missing is experience. I'm a musician as well and an artist. When I first started out playing shows, I was scared shitless. My legs were shaking and my mind was racing making it difficult to remember the lyrics. But you just push through it. It's going to be awkward and it's going to be scary, but everytime that you do it, it's going to be less than the time before. One thing that helps me is to know that you aren't the center …

I decided not to go. Texted her and said "hey, I'm not coming." She said "awe why not?" And I said "I'm hanging with friends and it's going over longer than I expected. Would you want to hang some other day?" And she said "of course." So I guess I'm going to leave the ball in her court for now. What do you think?

I forgot to mention that she's in a phase of "I'm single and finding myself" type of thing. She got out of a relationship last January where the dude cheated on her. This is the longest she's been single since high school. Ever dealt with a girl like that?

I would say it depends on how you felt the date went. You just might be in an awkward state where neither of you are comfortable enough to laugh around each other. However, if it continues or you feel uneasy, I would drop it and find somebody else.

My general concern is more the carrying a conversation and keeping her attention in the loud environment sort of thing.

I really appreciate this post. I've only just found seddit but I've been devouring it left and right for the past few days. I'm about to move back home to the big city and was trying to figure out how I could start practicing my social skills more when I found some 30-day challenges where you basically go out and have to talk to 5 strangers every day. I have it a try yesterday and only got two. It was a huge disappointment. So I did the math and I thought "what kept me from being able to do that…
