I really, really dislike the term "brutal honesty". It's just non-sensical to me - like true honesty has to be accompanied by degrading, hurtful or just plain mean comments, and that every attempt to take the edge off somehow also lessens the truth. You can be quite honest and direct without being a dick - but it takes eloquence, empathy and a genuine wish to see improvement. I think /u/Lets_Move_Forward does a great job of not compromising the truth, yet delivers it in a serious but kind way.

I'd say this isn't very good advice for a lot of people. The concept of a "badass" is not very well defined, and it means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. I can easily imagine some poor sod, who has a very poor understanding of what an attractive man is, go act like a complete dunce. I would instead look for role models to emulate. People, both men and women, who seem to be just naturally attractive, wise, good, strong, sensitive, sensual and charming. This can be a friend…

I appreciate that, it feels good to know that you found my comment to be useful in some way. Sounds like you've been through a rough time. I can't imagine what it must be like to have to end a relationship of 7 years. And good on you for honing in on what you want - wanting to be with women you find attractive is definitely not a thing you should suppress, so go you! Playing the field a bit can help you figure out what you want if/when you want to settle down with someone. Keep focusing on your …

Pardon me - Let me try and see if I can make it clearer. There will always be people (women and men) who will perceive you to be inferior to them. No matter how much wealth, social status, success and happiness you attain, there will always be people who will look down on you for any number of reasons. What I'm trying to say is this: Isn't futile and meaningless to try and change people's perception of you when it is essentially impossible?

What you're saying is basically that you can't judge a book by it's cover, and I agree.

It certainly doesn't, but it seems to me like you resent them for it. If a woman likes to think herself your (or anybody else's) superior, then just move on. There's nothing you can do about it. Nothing you can do to change her perception - and even if you could, why should you spend time and energy trying to convince her otherwise?

If I understand you correctly, it seems to me like you are too focused on physical attractiveness for your own good. Ask yourself why it is better to be with someone you find extremely physically attractive versus someone whom you just find mildly physically attractive. Often times, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what it is that makes us desire certain things, but it is well worth the time and reflection. Be aware of your desires, of where they come from and of how they affect you - more th…

You most likely subconsciously go for women you find to be “in your league”. And it’s not just you, in fact, studies have shown that most people tend to go for people they believe are “obtainable”. It’s basically another way of putting beautiful people on a pedestal. You may perceive them as being higher value, solely due to their physical beauty. It’s easy to believe that they are better than you, and that they would never even think of being with someone like you because you are not attractive…

I think this obsession with whom celebrities choose to date is just over the line. Let the man date whom he wants to date and keep your judgements to yourself. What he is doing is perfectly legal and should honestly be a personal and private matter. Whom and how he chooses to date is entirely his prerogative.

Though I'm not one for nitpicking, referring to human beings as "dolls" just rubs me the wrong way. Good on you for pointing it out.

A neg is a neg - a backhanded insult disguised as a compliment or joke to take advantage of a persons insecurities to manipulate them into vying for your approval. Playful teasing is done in a lot of ways, but it generally serves to take the tension out of a situation, build rapport, and establish a humouristic and genuine connection between the parties involved. It never carries judgement or ill will towards the teased.

Be honest with yourself and the world around you, and let people choose for themselves whether or not they want to spend time with you. I lost my virginity at 24, and at first I thought it was a big deal, but now, almost everybody knows about it - and if they don't, it's simply because it hasn't come up. Everybody who asks me will get the truth. Hell, I even sometimes mention it on first dates. I find it to be a great way of displaying my life's journey and at the same time turn things sexual. S…

What you have to say is easier than you think: "Hey, [Insert cute-girl name], I had a great time with you last week and I think you're pretty cute, let's go out again, shall we?" By being upfront and honest about your intentions and putting yourself out there by being vulnerable, you show fearlessness, honesty, and confidence. Three things that every girl of value are attracted to. It shows that no matter what she'll say, you won't be fazed by it. If she says yes, well, off you go! Have a great …

The funny thing is that I use seddit more and more as a source of inspiration and guidance not no much in terms of the seduction of women, but rather in terms of getting to be a better a man in this modern age; Becoming more emotionally aware and being more in sync with the world around me. I have become so much happier and at ease due to many of the things I read here, and I am much better at interpreting, understanding and controlling my emotions. I am also using a lot of the information I've …

It's one of the most divisive subjects on seddit but I wholeheartedly agree. It's not in good taste nor do I find it to be moral. I strive to be a man living by his principles, and I would never try something with a girl who I knew was in a relationship.

As well you shouldn't. Most girls already know of this "technique" and they know what it's supposed to do, that is make them feel insecure about themselves so that they will work harder for your attention. Genuine compliments that make her feel more safe and special will, generally, work way better I find. It's also less morally dubious.

Spot on. It's easy to trick yourself into believing that it's all external factors that hinder you from getting the women you want, but the fact of the matter is that it is you who are the hinderance. It's all an inner battle, a battle with yourself, your fears, your anxiety and your ego.

Dude, don't be so hard on yourself. You don't need so-called "harsh criticism" - you need constructive and supportive criticism. You don't need to think you deserve punishment and you don't need to be so self-loathing. If you become more accepting and tolerant towards yourself, your fears, regrets and your desires, you will be much more relaxed and less tense. It's an inner battle you have to take, and part of that battle is to realise that everyone screws up and makes mistakes. Everyone. And if…

I thought this video quite nicely summed up the issue a lot of people are facing when trying to find a suitable partner, whether just for a night or for the long haul. Showering women with unwarranted compliments and kind gestures will not make them feel anything for you. The key to a successful interaction is bringing yourself in line with her and noticing the things she wants to be noticed for. Don't dole out praise indiscriminately, it is a surefire way to turn her off and a way of devaluatin…

Why be ashamed? It's a tough decision to drop out and start over, but the decision you made were ultimately the right one for you. Sure, it would've been nice had you dropped out years ealier, but for various reasons you didn't, and there's nothing you or anybody else can do about it, so focus on where you are now and where you want to go. You should only be ashamed if you ever just give up. Get back up on that horse and go make some change.

Don't get in your head. It seems like you are doing fantastically and that the girl is into you, so it should be no problem just getting straight to the point and ask her out. I would be very(!) surprised if she said no - after all, she did follow you around the gym. ;) And if she says no it isn't because of you. Keep that in mind. Just keep doing what you're doing. Do you have a source for that? Couldn't it be the other way around? That due to poverty there are more unwanted pregnancies which result in fathers skipping on their children which then lead to the issues you listed? I want to make it clear that I am not questioning you because I disagree, but because I want to know more on the subject. Thank you for your eloquent and well thought-out reply. I didn't want to assume anything about your motives or reasons for harbouring this kind of ill-will, but I did feel the need to speak up and point out to you, that feeling this way is, as you say, arguably both illogical and immoral. "... I've turned into a cynic, believing that most women are useless scum" That's sad. I get why you ended up there, but you have to believe and trust in the fact that "scumness" is something that transcends gender, race, social and economic stature. How many times havn't you been treated like dirt by your fellow man, and how many times have a woman not shown kindness towards you. I'm not saying there aren't real, structural factors at play here, but women aren't worse than men and vice versa. E…

Of course they're scared of it, it is pretty scary to walk into something that could ruin your life at the behest of another person. Both emotionally, socially and economically is a divorce one of the worst things that could happen to a man, so there are clear, obvious reasons for men to be wary of marriage, as the only way to get divorced is if you first marry someone.

Really, this is propably just some immature young girl/woman who shouldn't be taken seriously. It's all based on the wish for a boyfriend who's always calmer and more collected than yourself. A carer. A man who can see when you're upset and immediately, not unlike a parent, cater to your needs. I guess it's understandable, but I wouldn't make an issue out of it. A man is man when he can be who he is while respecting other people.

He made a career out of being a model for (primarily men) who felt and still feel alienated in society. Alienated for having interests that are considered "uncool" or unproductive. He stands up for geeks and he teaches that being a geek is okay. That's pretty cool if you ask me. I certainly don't agree with him when it comes to gender equality issues, but the man is okay in my books in any other regard.

True, but where are we headed if we give up on eachother? I try very hard not to position myself against feminists, but with them in the search for justice for women, men, and everyone in between. All in all, my feminist friends just want justice and gender equality, but fail to see the wider picture - just about 50% of it.
