The end of men (Hanna Rosin) Not really a "MRA-Book" but a more balanced view on men and women in current society.

The privileges men are not aware of because if you are privileged you can't see your privileges ;-)

Yes, you do. Or you let the extremist do. These extremist are those who are powerful, who are writing books/articles, who are praised lectures at universities, who lead organsations.

The issues are real NOT the theory behind it. In addition the theory is mostly outdated. And it was always just one side of the coin. The theories are often hateful.

Feminism is from good to bad. The official goals and ideas are good. The real changes in policies feminism made often hurt men. And they block gender neutral laws. Then there is the misandry provoking theory and propaganda. You can't tell people about thousand years of oppression and blame men for all evils of history and think people won't start to hate men. That is the same as war propagada... 1:1. Join feminism and fight for equality together? I tried sometimes. First I had to accept their be…

It's sickening promotion of man hating accounts. It's not a problem that there are some crazies posting that stuff. It's a problem that it is mainstream.

Yes, that's an interessting effect. My gues: They learn about the privilege theory. Feel guilty for their own privileges and instead of reflecting or handling that insight in a sensible manner they start to hate others with supposedly more privilege. And that's the white male.

Yeah, I see the point they are trying to make with this women strike. They want to show that the contribution of women is important and critical. But as (alomost) always they fuck it up by ignoring men's contribution (or even aren't able to realize it?). You just can't expect to get support and understanding if you spit in the others face.

Most women never learned to respect if a man doesn't want. Probably she has this believe "a man wants always sex and if not something is wrong --- either with the man or the woman". In this case it seems like she is searching the "fault" on herself. Talk about with her outside a current situation. And don't push assumptions on her. Just ask her eg "how she feels if you are to tiered" or something like that.

" Even though [the foreskin] is more sensitive to light touch, I suspect that isn't implicated in sexual pleasure. " We have to understand the misandric feminist's perspective. When she is talking about the sensitivty of the foreskin they mean the sensitivty in the perception of the man. When they talk about sexual pleasure they mean the pleasure for the women. Sexual pleasure for men??? pahhh who cares?

It's worse than you thought... society not only not tells girls/women "Never hit a man/boy!" - society actually tells girls/women to hit men. What to do... difficult. I would recomend to try to get away, get witnesses and report it.

It's perfectly fine to encourage your kids to protect themself. But to not teach them to only do it if approriate is stupid. Her daugther will go around and kick boys in the balls and say 'i felt threatened'. That is sure as hell and everybody believes her. And I am quite sure that this is the plan of the author.

aren't men statistically more likely to sexually assault a woman than the other way around? Please don't misunderstand me.... Your initial question was if objectification/harrasment is still an issue. Yes, it is. It doesn't matter that much to know who is more likely to be sexually assaulted. Both can be, so it is an issue for both. We can tackle both without dissmising the other. I even think we can tackle it better if we see it as an universial issue with some differences. The "who is more aff…

The law (AGG) in Germany is fine. But in pratice is allready different. Female applicants get twice as likely answers to their applications. And behind closed doors some HR-people will tell you that they specifically search/prefer women.

So, then tell me why feminism is still fighting to lift girls/women only in education though they are ahead in western countries? In some countries even far ahead (eg finland). 60% of bachelors graduates are female. Is that equality? Is that a reason to further lift girls/women and fight against lifting boys/men. That is exactly what most feminists and feminist orgs do and lobby for. Is that "on the basis of equality"? Edit: Same goes to support of dv victims. Even according to the official stat…

maybe stereotypes The major irony. Those women who most vocaly complain about stereotypes like "women are emotional" have no problems what so ever to actively create stereotyps like "men are toxic, rapists, wife beaters, assholes ....".

Of course there are legitimate issues affecting women. DV and rape are serious issues. Yes, that needs to be tackled in a reasonable way. ("teachmennottorape" or "abloish due process" or "retrospective withdrawal of consent" are not reasonable.) Even the "pay gap" is somehow a legitimate issue. But not in the way it is presented. In Germany ~80% of the pay gap is not a gender pay gap but a sector pay gap. And many underpaid sectors have a female majority. The rest is a blend of biography, negoti…

Crazy. I guess they yell at you because you dared to say that men have the right to have preferences. That is only a right for women - in the mind of these crazies. Of course a woman can say she only likes muscular men with blue eyes, black hair, 6 feet, 6 inch ... that's completly fine.

I don't know about the perception in spain at that time. But in Germany Corona was a thing only affecting asia and italy. Just a handful known cases in specific parts. Many went sking in risk areas. So this neglect of the risk was not limited to the women's march. However the silence about that is telling. News are full about speculations how much influence a football game and the sking trips had.
/r/MensRights03/04/20 06:51 AM

This part is completely ok. Women don't have to do/be that. On the other side men are entitled to have preferences. Eg. If a man only likes thin women he doesn't have to love and have sex with plus size women. Some feminists allready try to take away that right.

Of course not in all men and not as a singular cause but I think that feminism contributes to the mental illness in men. In various ways. What is one of the main mantras? "We don't need men"... to be needed is very important to not get depressed. Puls the consant vilifieing of men as violent, rapist, oppressors... does it tolls, too. Ok, one thing I learned from a feminist: "Sexism is (mostly) neither intentional nor conscious". So I think most feminist don't consciously lie when they say they are not sexist against men or hate men. It's so internalized that they are not able to realize it.

" The obligation of coddling and protecting a woman was transferred from the father to the husband. " That's the thing. We can't deny that this went along with a dependancy and also some loss of freedom. But to say call it property or slavery is deluding. The husband had the obligation to protect and provide for his wife and the wife had the obligation to care and get childern (simplified). That was by no means a good situation for both.

I think most people who call themself feminist truely are for equality. They can't see what feminism actually does, they are trapped in a believe system. I also thought untill recently that way. It's a strong confirmation bias. If you hear all your life "men are the evil violent opressors and women are the opressed victims" it is hard to accept that the reality is more complex. Eg. untill recently I never heared about male rape victims. I think the first I heard about was the victim of Asia Arge…

/r/MensRights02/04/20 06:29 PM

Yeah, let's change that. Fun fact: I live in a country with a female chancellor. Abortion laws got worse during her terms. No one blames her or even old white women for that. Suddenly all understand that it is not only about the sex of leader.

The coal miner, the serf, the slave ... were in power? A tiny minority were in power, the queens and kings, the countess and count. The rest just had a shitty live. Perhaps it was a little less shitty for women or men. Depedens on the perspective. To say "men" had the power is outlandish.

I don't really get it, too. Do you want to say feminism is not reasonable?
/r/MensRights02/04/20 06:07 PM

Yes, I understood. But you see how sexist and racist this argument is? Men get the blame, while more men support their position just because those in power have the same sex (whih sometimes isn't even the case). And these men were elected by men and women. You need some twisted patriarchy theory to make a connection.

Oh, I actually didn’t know this. I meant that a lot of feminists make the argument that it’s mostly white old men in government who make decisions about abortion. You see, that's the problem. In Alambma it was woman who signed the law. But ok, let's say it's old white men. Why blame old white men - white men - all men? Why not name the people who actually do that?

Of course they do not support made up accusations.... But they think if false accusations get public or are proven false that will hurt the prosecution of real accusations. So they throw falsely accused men under the bus by silencing talks and suppresing stat about false accusations.

Of course it's both. I guess you will find nobody here who thinks that it is not a women's issue and men's issue. But outside the men's movement you will find many who think it's not a men's issues/ or a women's issue only. How many say "he wanted it / lucky one" when a men got raped - especially if the rapist is attractive? I would even say most feminists are on our side here. But as soon as someone wants to adress it publically it gets a backlash. With the strange arguments like "talking about…

This is feminism: " feminist activist Mona Eltahawy advocates a muscular, out-loud approach to teaching women and girls to harness their power through what she calls the “seven necessary sins” that women and girls are not supposed to commit: to be angry, ambitious, profane, violent, attention-seeking, lustful, and powerful. All the necessary “sins” that women and girls require to erupt. "

It's sexist against women, I would say...
/r/MensRights02/04/20 10:40 AM

In short: We had women's liberation but didn't have men's liberation. We still have the narrow gender roles for men. The "help" from feminism is not the liberation of men from these roles. Feminism just shames and blames men for having to abide to these roles. The roles still exist. So men face the dilemma: Abinde to the rules and be "toxic" or not abide to the rules and be marginalized. My prefered solution: Abolish the rules.

I think that is partly because of the feminist popular narritive that men are oppressors, violent, rapists, the enemy ... That is what the semi educated think/believe so they become hostile against men. Another factor is that it is completely accepted by society (and especially in feminist circles) to be rude to men.

" people laugh because women are considered inferior to men. " That is one of the stupid feminists misunderstandings. A completely flawed logic with the sole purpose to increase misandry. It's a good way to create hate against group A if you tell group B that group A sees group B as inferior. Let's go back in time to understand how stupid this idea is. When women started to wear men's clothes (eg trousers) they were also shunned and mocked by society. So men were considered inferior at this time…

The problem is not that women want less sexual assault and objectifying. The problem is that some women and parts of the movement propagate to objectify men. Many think that way: "Objectify women = taboo, sexism Objectify men = empowering, great, equality" And by gendering of (sexual) violence these people block the possibility to tackle (sexual) violence against men.
/r/MensRights30/03/20 02:29 PM

"a woman saying they prefer a 'circumcised pp' " Compare it with 'a man saying he prefers cut labia' then you know what the problem is with that statement. If you have no problem you are lucky. It's a fact that most men lose pleasure during intercourse and masturbation if foreskin is cut off. It must be a free decision of an adult. A child can not constent to this mutilation.
/r/MensRights30/03/20 01:49 PM

Yes, it's opression. Think of the women who stood up for their rights in the last century. They where shunned and attacked by society. Now men are in this position. The attacks against men will be rougher bc there is no chiavalry towards men. We have to speak up before it is to late.
/r/MensRights30/03/20 08:00 AM

"Men's problems are caused by men. But they attack women instead..." No, men's problems aren't caused by men. Men's problems are caused by many things (policies, expectations, society...). Feminist do constant group victim blaming. "You are a man so your problems are caused by men" what they really want to say is: "Your own fault, shut up. Now let's talk about my issues again." This group thinking is toxic and increases sexism. This has to end!

How to stop it? In my view feminism got so crazy bc of two main reasons. They utilized emotions (anger, hate, traumatization...) and they blocked all critique/stopped dialogue. If we don't want to become as crazy that means: don't utilize emotions (in that way) stay in contact and dialogue

These areas are dominated by feministic organizations and ideology. Feminism is only for euqality in areas where women can benefit. In areas where equality would mean women have to give feminism is actively oposing equality. More men in women dominated areas is seen as a benefit for men. Benefits for men is the biggest taboo of feminism. It's shocking how open they are advocating for a increase of inequality if it benefits women.

Don't tone police here. intersectional feminists I know how intersectional they are. They include and care about everybody, really everybody... just not men. They are exclusionist as any other feminists. Men's suicide: Feminism is the biggest reason for men's suicide. By disenfranchising men, telling men/boys constantly they are not needed anymore (future is female), that they are evil, toxic and what not. By blocking reasonable research on that. By blaming the victim ("oh it's because toxic m…

Exactly. Diversity is for some homogenity. I remeber when they celebrated the diversity of the Huffington Post team ... all middle aged white women... That was called the most diverse team. "there I learned the definition of sexism. men suppressing females." This is the best way to create sexism. If they teach it you can assume that they are either stupid or want to create sexism.

None of cases are men vs. men. This group thinking is the base of sexism (or is allready sexism - depending on the understanding). Very common among feminism influenced people. Majority victims of violent crimes: It's correct that most perpetrators of these crimes are men but not the group of men. To prevent that we have to clear up the counterproductive feminist's narratives like 'men are always safe'/'the reason for male violence is toxic masculinity/patriarchy'. Then we have to takle the thin…

My opinion is, you can't force someone to carry your baby. It's bad situation with no good solution. "If she didn’t want a child, they should have either used contraception, or not had sex at all." Quite sound idea at the first glance. If we look further into the future that may end as a disenfranchisement of men... After the crisis no one will change the positions from women back to men (at least not for desirable jobs). If we assume an unemployment rate of 30% after the crises and most women are in jobs that means only 40% of men will find a job - 60% of men unemployed. (alternative assumption: 20% unemployment: 40% of men unemployed).

Because they are mutual interconnected. And if you want equality you can only lift women's rights to level of men's rights but not above. If you ignore that you create inequaltiy and make women to oppressors. I guess that's not what most people enjoy to be. Simple example feminists want men to do more care work, right? Feminist also want that women do more paid work or better paid work, right? To make that work on a society level we have to cooperate and share.

Don't think so. It's a bit about ruining the fun. It's the fun to mock about a gender. To mock about men is very accepted today. There has been a very effective defence mechanism implemented to silence that critique by men. This! Best post ever on that term. I'd like to add that most people do not understand that the behaviours assosiated with that term are massively rewarded by society. That was not my question. I am able to do my own research. The crucial point is not mentioned, yet. TM is the rigid set of believes how a man should be. What is described is the impact of that on men and how it is partly perpetuated. It's the language that is messed up and prevents the correct view. It's not the 'masculinity' that demands. It takes time to change/abolish mandatory conscription. In Germany we had that untill 2011, of course men only. It took years of discours. Also the "Musterung" (test of ability for military service) was mandatory for all men turning 18 even if they wanted to choose social service. Groups that evaluate and adress men's or women's issues are fine. They should work together and acknowlege eachother. My dream is that this unhealthy war evolves into a negotiation or even better into a cooperation. There are so many things which would perfectly fit together. DV, (sexual) violence could be faught much more efficient if it isn't gendered. eg. feminism wants men to do more "care work", great give men equal parental rights and free them from the expecation to be the main provider.

Exacly power is security. So power fanatasies root partly in a feeling of a lack of security. (probably stems from early childhood). Society offers less protection for boys/men. I too, and I think many others have or had some form of gender dysphoria. The feminist's message 'men are bad and oppressors' has arrived and done its harm. Sure they have other noble intents. But they are acting in a world where other powerfull forces are delighted by the destabilazation. And they will be happy to use it for their own purposes. Once it is ok to rewrite history, ban artwork... all is lost. And it will be not replaced by what these feminist think.
/r/MensRights15/03/20 10:51 PM

That is completely dependant on how you define masculinity. And the connection between man and masculinity. What you do is the most counterproductive thing you can do. You define the bad things as masculin and connect that to men. Masculinity just summarise a set of traits that are neither good or bad AND are not limited to men. Same applies to feminity. The naming is allready part of the gender devide.

Hey. Women are humans equal to men and not a homogenous group. Radical feminism is a dangerous explosive. It creates a spilt, hate and more. The oposite of what we need. Post modern feminism is comparable to burning of books. You know who did this the last time. To change the view is something different than censorship. Together there is a big risk that they are utilized by other forces to create a totalitarian tyranny. They are paving the road for others. In the mean time they are hurting and h…

The wickedness of the plan I think that plan works so good because allmost all have internalized the dogma "girls/women are disadvantaged and need to be supported". Umm, good question. I guess it is a dynamic. Abusers want to hurt and they chose to do what hurts. Though some feminist publications give direct advice how to abuse (of course they name it empowering or something else). And their language is often abusive or at least sophisitic/rabulistic (not a dialoge but a concersational fight with the only goal to put the other down). So feminist are educated to be rethorical capable to put the "oponent" down. That can easly be misused for abuse. Again, that…

If women or men are more productive then the company culture/circumstaces are tilted to favour the one or other. In studies you can easly create faux correlations. Male Feminists are worse than female (there are many good though). Simple reason: They want to impress the female feminists with 'how good they follow the agenda/narrative'. Instead of offering a male perspective they just say yes to every prejudices. They do a great disservice for men AND equality.

It's exact the same word. To which extent does the historical reason and Lautverschiebung matter? You can even argue from the other side and say singular female got the plural pronoun ... then it would be pluralis majestatis. Disclaimer: Don't take this to serious ;-) Edit: I am glad that is that way. If it were the other way around. We'd have to hear things like 'the patriarchy is everywhere, it makes out of women men, male dominates the plural ...." lol

I will certainly not take part in creating a beliefe system and a mythology. It is about politics and NOT a religion or a cult. In fact that is one of the biggest problems. Big parts of feminism morphed to a anti-men cult. To put a "pro-men"-cult/mythology against that is the most stupid thing you could do. We have to stay on rational compassionate level.

" a version of masculinity " Is that "men"? Is that restricted to men? Women can have masculin traits, too. Including these. Creep: [countable] (informal) a person that you dislike very much and find very unpleasant He's a nasty little creep! Even height discrimination is smuggeled in. Sexism: The unfair treatment of people, especially women, because of their sex; the attitude that causes this The examples of words sexist against women (rabid, shrill, nagging) are much more harmless than the words sexist against men. Since a few years women have higher rates when they end college. Don't know the overall figure. I don't understand the recent shift in the view on that. Untill recently the discrimination against PoC was called discrimination against PoC. And this exists and is inhuman. Seriously. Why would you call prejudieces against men as toxic masculinity? It's insulting, victim blaming and confusing. There was a time when girls were disencouraged to play with toy cars. " (wiki) You see, even you mixup toxic with non toxic. The line is not as clear as most people think. And most people bend the line far in the non toxic aera and thus limiting/shaming male behaviour.

that it’s as clearly defined good/bad feminine/masculine No, hat does not define feminity as bad! That defines feminity IN men as bad. A big major misconception of feminist. Patriarchy said: feminity in men bad Feminism said: (toxic) masculinity in men bad (then in pratice the confinment to 'toxic' disapeared). What do you mean with standards within manhood?
/r/MensRights04/03/20 04:29 PM

First rule for a productive conversation: Do not insult! That's why I like the term 'man box'. No one likes to be in a box, that creates a desire to break free. And sends the message 'you are ok'. Then usually people want to know what is meant with that box... It's men's rights to be not confined by a box.
/r/MensRights04/03/20 04:16 PM

No, rules only apply for the inferiors. The supperiors would be stupid if they would abide to the rules they created to limit their inferiors. The Chads of the world don't think about "not man engough". That's a tool to control. " as superior because they’re more traditionally “manly.” " That doesn't exist anymore in my mileu. A man who tries to show off 'manliness' end up as laughing stock.

I like the word 'man box'. Or the regular wording 'gender role' or 'stereotypes', "toxic masculinity" is a specific gender role enforced with stereotypes for men which can be harmful for the man who lives it and his social environment. Low payed jobs without social security. The childcare topic. I see the reculance of women to be interested in men who earn less as the biggest reason for that. If the man in a relationship earns more it's just logical the woman choses part time and does the most of childcare. If women would accept men who earn less that will change. Otherwise not. Again a no brainer. And totally ignored.
/r/MensRights03/03/20 10:49 PM

Probably not. That's not of interest. It's not mentioned by the people in the article. They basically blame men that they don't change in lower payed sectors. Even if they have a college degree (in traditional 'male fields') they should not complain and pursue a crareer in care work. While women get special programs to increase the education gap. And so can enter the workforce as young employees with lower wages. The "CEO-problem" is of interest though it only effects very few people.

Sure, in the last years many companies had the increase of female employees as top goal. That leads automatically to discrimination. Even in Germany where it is illegal companies actively search women (of course they don't write it in vacancies). But if you talk to hr people they will say it. Yelling 'sexism' will certainly not help in that kind of situation. You have to be more sofisticated. You basically want them to realize what they are doing... They hate the legal system. The want to destroy the legal system. Spoiler: It will turn against them/against us all. They don't know what they are doing. Once you need no evidence to jail a men for a rape accusation the system can jail everybody for nothing. That's why the system is delighted by the feminist's push. Feminists listen! Kudos! And congrats/ all the best for your pregnancy. Be easy with yourself, the indoctrination is strong, very strong. Ironically the patriarchy and feminism are using the same mechanics. " "well it isnt exactly easy being a man, either" I would automatically get defensive and feel threatened and tell them they are 100% in the wrong " The indoctrination framed someone saying something about the hardships of men as a 'minimization of women's hardship with the intent to change nothing'... aka wha…

Hey, European here... I have read an article stating that the diagonsis guidlines for depression are oriented on the symptoms women predominately show. The "bottle-up" behaviour and coping strategies (drug abuse, getting aggressiv...) men often show is often not linked to a possible depression as cause. Same goes to 'public opinion' or articles on depression. Where depression is often framed as a 'women's issue' So male depression goes often times unreckognized (by the affected persons and his s…

Low wages is a very sound reason (but only surface). I didn't read the article. Will that change if I explain it again - after it was explained over a dozen/hunderts/thousands times allready? Ok, I will give it one more try: "Stop touching me!" I guess at the moment there is no chance to agree on the approach. AND we totally agree on the goal... less vicitims of male violence in general ... that includes wifes and children! So we can support the goal (and not talk about the approach for a moment). "MRAs for the safety of wifes and children" on a demostration is possible. I would go there .... not so sure if I would be safe ;-)

Just the fact that this sub is about men's rights is for some/most a prove that it is misogyny because we allegely 'only' care about men and not women. Some think we are misogynists because we highlight female perpetrators. (BTW with that we are helping feminist to overcome the female gender role that women are saints and can't do no harm.) Some just look at what some assosiated with mra have said. Some are just misandrists.

Ok ... that is an article that focuses mainly on homocide of women by their partners. Therefore the statistics were ... 'highlighted'. That absolutely justified, that is a very serious problem. My only critique is that we very seldom see reportings about homocide of men (other than for 'shock-entertainment'); a one sided perspective. TBH writing an article without being a journalist is quite pointless. Anyway, we can talk about the perpetrators. 38% are killed by their partners. What is up with them that they do that? I don't follow this reasoning: "It's the behaviours that we encourage in little boys and little girls, then we expect women to be attractive for men, they're objectified. "Women are turned into products and men into consumers. And it's a consumer that has the power rather than what they're buying," Even if that…

Hehe, I realized that in a TV dicussion about quotas for the parliament a few years ago. ALL participants were pro a higher participation of women. The only point was how to achieve that. I watched it and thought I would get told some arguments pro quotas.... one hour ZERO arguements. The feminists just attacked and insulted everybody who was not pro quotas. Glad you like it here :-)

Oh ok... sounds like her believes on that subject are very important for her. She needs that to feel good. She needs the feeling that she helps the vulnerable populations and people in needs. So when you come with logic that will probably harm her feeling that she supports the good cause. "empathetic of vulnerable populations" You can only empathise with individuals. Populations are too diverse. That is just an idea! You have to think on you own if that might be the case. Do not confront her wit…

"Being pushed or slapped by someone warrants at least twice as much aggression in response" That is by no means the definition of selfdefence I know. Selfdefence has to be inevitable. That means if I get hit and I have the chance to avoid further harm by other means than hitting back then I have to choose these other options. Selfdefence is for selfprotection only. Not as a respons or as 'education'.

Exposing based on what? On an allegation before the process has even started. That said it is ok to report facts that happened. I would like to see a more distanced/rational reporting. Theoretically it is possible that she hit him because he threatened to kill her the next morning (I don't believe that!). Untill we know all the facts the media shouldn't draw conlusions. They can report 'she hit him' (how, where, when ...). But not describe her as monster.

Point 2. "White knighting" Very abstract that is a competitive strategy. I see the correct view and solution in a combination of both views. For men and women it is something inside and what have been done to them. I wouldn't name it a flaw. Its more a protection mechanism that also blocks positive experiences. Simply put... if you think the whole day 'there are no good women' (because you had bad experiences) you won't find good women. ('Good women' = women who fit to the individual personality)

Women were excluded from vote/go to college/office in church/government that's a fact (apart from some exemptions). Most men were excluded too (from vote depending on region until ~ 1900). The difference is men were not excluded because of their sex but mostly because of their class. Edit: that equals by birth in that time. So 95% were not privileged. Had same zero chances as womem - just for another reason.

I have the that feeling too. We have swapped from: Woman who had sex with many men=slut Man who had sex with many women = hero TO woman who had sex with many men= empowered and great Man who had sex with many women=asshole/rapist/slut The reason why most don't notice that change is both views exists parallel. Those who ignore the swap only look at former view (have this old view in mind). The former is the old view slowly disapearing while the latter is the new view and growing.

as a white male, I'm not privileged. The logic behind the "male privilege" is that you are privileged compared to a woman in the same situation as you (arguably). There many other kinds of privileges (race, class, country, education...). They are picking one out to bash. You know the movie "The wave"? Or are you familiar with the chinese cultural revolution? Similar dynamics.

First, your thinking is right! You got gaslite. Understand why they are doing it. The feminist rethoric is a very powerful tool to exercise power. In this example they can say anything and block any critique with their blah blah. This blah blah is detached from common sense. So I doubt that you can achieve something with logical arguments. One argument could be that 'men' include opressed minority groups. So these hateful statements go also to opressed minority gruops. Who are certainly more opr…

Don't know if that is the average opinion... Pro choice, no law or other person should have a say. In my view the choice per se doesn't touch men's rights. It is more about the legal obligations for the biological fathers. Complicated topic... Here we can study and learn how the war on men under the banner "women's rights/feminism" works in real time! A law against women's rights is used as justification for a law against men's rights. Some feministic rethoric is thrown in. The uneducated feminists will support the law against men's rights because they think it will help their cause (and satisfies their revenge feelings). Hi, thank you for your support. Terminology/Rethoric I don't want to critizes feminism or the theories behind it. Nonetheless I think the misuse of the rethoric had done a lot of damage. For example the use of the term toxic m. The concept, ok fine. But the term was often used just to berate men when they had an other opion or behaved in an undesired way. That is deeply insulting and unsettling on an identity level. This and many other terms and the rethoric were used as weapon to intimitade men…

Agreed with your point. This law just sets a quota for women but no quota for men. It has to include: " least two men on boards of five members and at least three men on boards with six or more." Thank you for your explanations. I'd like to add that the numbers of male victims are strongly affected by the tendency to not speak out and to not report. I asked if feminism/feminists are aware of/care about which effect the terms you use have on 'regular' people who get exposed to them. Then I made an offer to speak about "that there are some things that men do not realize are different for women".

Thank you for your thoughts. Mostly I agree with you and I am thankfull that you acknoledge male victims of DV and rape. "And when men complain that people don’t believe that they can be raped etc., it reminds me of the thousands of people telling women that they should enjoy rape, or not believing if the rape happened." Yes, that exactly reminds me of that too. At least in my personal milieu and expierence people telling that to women or indirect over women is an absolut taboo, same in media. A…

So for me i don’t agree men can walk away from the baby they helped create with 100% responsibilities I kinda agree with you (again just personal view!). But there are some/many crazy cases. Eg. if the father has no money/job he is put in jail. Does this make sense? Stifles the ability to support even more and costs a lot of money. And is horrible for the father. And with the obligation to support comes the right to see the kid.

Glad to hear, in my view that is more a distraction than a explanation.

plus female abuse, but its not a legal right issue per se, so off topic just now. It just seems like not a legal issue. What happens if someone get's away with abuse easely because of bias in legal system and gendered norms? Its practically legal for women to abuse men. Or at least the consequences are very modest. In fact men get further abuse from the legal system (laughed at at court, downplayed, not regocknized). Who holds the power is tempted to abuse it.

My personal views, don't know if they have something to do with MRA! I know, the idea of a men's movement sounds counterintuitive for feminists. Men have all the power, in politics, economy, finance... right? That what you probably call the 'partiarchy' is not my voice. I hear your voice but have no own voice (probably because you think my voice is the voice of the 'partiarchy').

I agree with you. The focus should be more on the support of the victim(s).

Thank you. That constant increasing hatespeach against men is exactly what brought me here. I soaked it up for a long long time. First it was so subtle that is wasn't really noticable. But now it is almost imposible to ignore, still many don't realize it or they realize it and see it as justified. I think it is also improtant to make men resilient to the discrimitation so that they do not internalize it (even more).

destroying men both physically and psychologically If we abstract that to destroying something/somebody we have something that men are also certainly capable of, right?

So we have to add. Many sisters risk and lost their lives, crippeld physically and psychologically. Horrible

Where are these tons of men's groups? Do someone know them? Are the pots limited or is it possible that they can grow?

I am not so sure if we see the whole picture. There might be disadvantage we don't know engouh about. But our disadvantages must be heared too. Anyway be aware that if you are talking to feminists that they have views that might be biased. And are often not up to an open hearted dialoge.

Hej Bro, I feel with you. Same here. Be asured that you are not alone. I try to find out where these feelings come from and understand it. I have gotten qutie sensitive on this men blaming. Even if men are not adressed directly I feel blamed. This bulling works buy creating a feeling of guilt even if you aren't guilty of anything. The privilege thing might be true, though I am not so sure if all aspects are taken into acount regarding male privilege. But compared to the global population I am pr…

I am happy to be a man, too. Though I don't like at beeing a man: watch and talk about TV-sports, have to be interested in cars and buy expensive ones, be the one who has to do the dirty heavy work, need emotional support, have to be potent to be a man, almost never get asked to have sex, have to push others down to keep position, being treated unpolite....

'The grass is always greener on the other side" Men see what women have and men don't have and want it. Women see what men have and women don't have and want it. That's just human! The problem kicks in when one group is being told over and over again what they don't have. And the other group is being told over and over again what they have and is not allowed to speek about what they don't have. First group will get angry at second group. Second group will be confused. You can not see envy in fem…

hey, take a look at the carzy argument "why men can't be discrimiated". Basically it says men are priviledged so its ok to say "men are ...". That's not the definition of discirmination. That goes in the same direction:https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/exluih/according_to_victoria_smith_misandry_shouldnt_be/

Thanks for asking. First I don't really call my self a 'MRA'. This term has still to much negativly connotation and there are still some views around in MRA movement I can not agree with. (Same goes to feminism when I look at their activism, to be clear I support their goals and ideas.) I see a need to support men, so I started to engage in the discussion. I started to realize that something gotten wrong when saying "women are <positive thing>" became a taboo and at the same time saying "men are…

She says "Men should have more compassion with Jonny Depp and women's capacity for compassion is allready at low levels". The first I agree with. The second I believe her.

TBH Just from the statement I have no idea who you are. From a person who believes in equality and is engaged to achieve equality in the areas where women (and other genders) don't have equality yet and is encouraging/supporting others to look at areas where inqualities for men are. To a person who misuses this statement (knowingly or unknowingly) for other intents. Thank you for talking with us :)

Good point. Didn't thought of seeing it as a coping strategy untill now. I see also another possible explanation of that behavior. I guess there are many men (including me) who love it when a female partner takes charge and makes the action - at least sometimes. If a woman (or any other person) commits assault she certainly does take the charge BUT does not respect the bounderies and does not care about consent. We have to distinguisch between these two cases: A) Take the charge and respect the …

It agree with the satement that the believe that all humans shohld be treated with equal respect should be unconditional. And I believe that all humans desvere human rights. You should never stop believing that.
