It is a simple statement of fact. Whether we’re talking about design, construction or maintenance, the world’s infrastructure is absolutely and overwhelmingly a male product.

So, what’s with the caveats?

Women couldn’t do the work before!

Well, that’s true, but there’s nothing stopping women in western nations from becoming engineers, working in construction, etc., and yet they still don’t. Even in areas where there’s heavy, heavy promotion, subsidies, bursaries and scholarship, even handholding for female businesses, they still don’t even remotely get to parity with male participation. In my province, we have a female owned and run construction company, subsidized by all three levels of government, and it can barely scrape together enough womanpower to fill a single shift at one of the oil sands projects. Without the subsidies, it would cease to exist. The historical complaint is possibly valid, but the modern complaint most definitely is not.

We Contribute in Other Ways

Yes, you do, but that doesn’t change the fact you don’t contribute in THIS way. The fact women do 100% of the birthing and a majority of the child rearing doesn’t offset or waive the fact they are a tiny minority in infrastructure development, construction and maintenance. Both facts are true at the same time, and one does not nullify the other.

Women would do it better

Well, there’s nothing stopping women from demonstrating this in real time. Build female engineering firms, construction firms, maintenance firms and put your money where your mouth is. Until that happens, this is just supposition.

And, considering that feminist theory has actively ruined at least a couple of industries (domestic violence support, sexual assault support), there’s active evidence that leading with ideology doesn’t produce anything other than a biased delivery system. So, is ‘better’, in this case, really a re-definition of ‘favours women actively’?

I'm just gonna give my little rant that I often give, when someone asks about the discrepancy between men and women in historic cultural contribution.

You know the great Director Akira Kurosawa? He came from a wealthy Japanese samurai family and had 7 siblings. 4 of them died early.

You know German Emperor William II ? He of course was from one of the wealthiest families in the world and also had 7 siblings. 2 of them died early.

So despite those families having access to all the resources and the best doctors in the world, child mortality was atrocious, and that's 100 or 150 years ago.

Imagine how child mortality must have been for everyone else, people who don't have access to all the resources and to any doctors.

And that was already at a time when there was modern medicine and germ theory and vaccinations.

Imagine how it must have been 200 years ago, before there even was modern medicine and agriculture and malnutrition was just a fact of life for everyone.

Child mortality was closer to 80% for most of mankind's existence. So what does that mean? It means every woman has to go through 10 pregnancies just to maintain a stable population. Considering how many women became infertile due to infections and malnutrition or just by childbirth itself or died early for those same reasons, it means the load on those remaining women was even higher.

Think about that: every woman had to spent about 10 years of their fertile early 15-40 years of age (if they are lucky) pregnant, just to keep the population stable.

And that doesn't even include nursing and raising all those babies and toddlers and children and adolescents only for most of them to die before they grow up.

So why did it fall on men to build civilization for the most part? Because women were fucking busy making sure we don't go extinct the whole time, at great personal risk for health and life.

And it only is in the last century that this has changed in any significant way, due to those drops in child mortality and due to contraception. But culture is of course lagging behind to catch up to this new reality.

How do we know if the genders weren’t reversed we would be in a worse state, women are deceitful, it’s in their nature, they are so very good at it, and so every good at destroying men both physically and psychologically, with a world ruled by women, we could expect these days to be living in slavery, being arrested simply for being a man, or being arrested simply by a claim of abuse. A world ruled by women would never be a better place, it’s been proven by history that women were more likely to start wars, behead people ectr ectr, more men dead.
