She moved out in 2023, so I'm good on 1 and 2, defining the "main home if the dependent child" is a gray area maybe - we have 50/50 custody, but because of my ability to work from home, and her need to be in office, the children spent more than 50% of the year with me... I'll still check with my lawyer

My first thought reading this was, "damn, so it isn't just me this happens to?!" The mental gymnastics, claiming I'm wrong (when I'm not / accusing me), inadequate apology. Sorry you have to deal with that but a sigh of relief that it's not just me

Damn. I'm sorry for your son and you. I was, and still am doing that counter-parent methodology. Just being supportive to my kids, and generally being "not mom"

It's not my call. I didn't escalate - The therapist did as required by the state.

The counseling and the event with the x aren't connected in that way. Counseling was already going because my child is having tantrums at 10... and has been for years and years. During her regular counseling session, she told the therapist what happened, and being a mandated reporter, the therapist is calling dcf

"Happened without my involvement", that's a fact.... and she'll find a way to accuse / attack me whether i warn her or don't warn her. I appreciate these words. Will keep it to myself

That first sentence is 10000% true. The second sentence works up until, when my child inevitably let's it slip that she told me what happened before the therapist.

I only want to introduce the kids to the gf. I do not want to introduce her to my ex ever

The ex and the gf shall meet as late as humanly possible, if never. I'm just thinking a courtesy text, if i even need that

I can see my ex wanting to meet her, and I'm a hard no on that. The kids only really knew after it had been several months

Might be worth the ask, have her rethink that her messages arent in total secrecy

I figured it was a stretch, that why i was curious if anyone had successfully done it

That's unfortunate. I don't want to stoop too her level, but the spewing of lies are, something else.

Yes, I'm free of dealing with someone else's anxiety, need for attention, and overall boring demeanor. I can parent the way I see fit, which makes me a better dad and my kids are happier. Financially it stinks, but I'll live. And I do things I enjoy when I don't have my kids.

No. It doesn't get any simpler.

Spend time doing things they enjoy. Try to get them to have new experiences (day trips, hikes, life lessons...). Always be there for them, and listen to what they say. Make sure they know you have their back, that you love them, and you'll have a strong bond.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
