I graduated from college and then joined a plumbing, pipefitting, and welding union. Didn't feel like going to grad school. You can make pretty good money learning a trade. My union starts us off at $19 an hour, after we earn a certain amount of hours, we get a $2 raise. By the time we are fifth year apprentices we are making over $30. Exactly what I did. I graduated from college last year, and now I'm doing an apprenticeship. I applied for lots of jobs after I graduated and would get emails that said they went with someone who had more experience. I said, fuck this shit, and decided to look into the trades. I am now at a plumbing/pipefitting/welding union. We have school every other week. I'm still unemployed because work is slow, but at least now I can relax and not stress about worrying what I'm going to do with my life.
