I agree that my trans example was wrongly chosen, I wrote that without thinking. My thought process behind choosing the trans example was aimed at fetishisers who see trans people as sex objects, but refuse to see them as genuine people with a gender identity worth respecting; believe it or not, this is more common than you’d think.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 12:22 PM

Yes, we should all be gay 😈 /s In all seriousness, no. But if you refused to date a bi woman simply because she’s also into women, that would be discrimination.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 12:07 PM

No. First off, why’re you assuming only queer men are in lavender marriages? Second, I never said that, stop putting words in my mouth. Third, lavender marriages were usually between queer men and queer women LMAO straight women were rarely in lavender marriages.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 11:54 AM

I agree. I’m not particularly advocating for people to make dating a free for all, but to acknowledge that it can be brutal, and that “preferences”, valid as they are, can often arise from discrimination. Personal autonomy and consent triumphs all in dating, even morals.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 11:14 AM

True, women don’t have to save them at all. Personal autonomy and consent triumphs all in dating. Regarding lavender marriages, a personal choice isn’t necessarily bigoted, but a societal stigma against it will feel like throwing queer people under the bus in a hostile society.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 11:02 AM

No, you’re a bigot for assuming all white people are unable to build a life with you, you’re generalising them all and attributing a negative characteristic (ignorance and wilful malice) onto them. You’re not a bigot for wanting to vet who enters your life. And as I said, personal autonomy and consent triumphs all in dating, bar nothing.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:57 AM

My apologies, I was in a rush (I’m going out with my parents), and I misread your point. It’s fine to prefer certain eye colours. Where it goes wrong is in deeming people with a specific eye colour generally unattractive.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:43 AM

You prefer someone based on attributes they can’t control. It’s not a death sentence for someone’s moral character to be bigoted in dating, but that the basis is discrimination must be recognised.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:38 AM

I recognise that my point was taken to an extreme, and I concede that your argument is valid in the lens of an individual being. It’s your right to deny a lavender marriage. But in a society where homosexuality isn’t legal, a general, population wide distaste for lavender marriage can lead to increased danger against homosexual people, or even people suspected of homosexuality.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:37 AM

No. We need to make a society where people don’t have to be in constant competition to feel fulfilled. If we make a society where significant standing and acceptance is placed on arbitrary math skills, it is societal discrimination against those with subpar math skills. In our society, money is paramount, and this often leads to societal ostracisation of the poor. Even if people don’t willingly hate on the poor, perpetuating behaviour and structures that lead to this social ostracisation is bigo…
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:31 AM

I agree that we need to find more fulfilling ways to live without making romantic love a paramount goal. My point is that bigotry doesn’t have to necessarily be on an individual level, and it can often be a statistical outcome of many inoffensive choices. Our society makes romantic love something we should all strive towards, and it places social standing on the ability to find a relationship. Women are called bitter cat ladies if they’re not married in their 30s. Men are called losers for not f…
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:28 AM

It’s quite common to associate negative traits with less aesthetically pleasing people compared to more aesthetically pleasing people. It doesn’t have to be conscious, it often happens unknowingly. The halo effect is real. I’ve felt it myself, until I asked myself why I feel the way I did. My friend says she feels less safe around men who are balding or have bad skin and bad facial harmony, even if she doesn’t mean to.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:19 AM

On a social level, we do condemn those we see as “undeserving” to a life of increased loneliness and emotional suffering. If you subject someone to a negative experience based off immutable traits, it’s bigotry. As I said, the reason it’s acceptable is because personal autonomy supersedes fairness of love.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:17 AM

Lavender relationships and marriages are done for sociopolitical reasons, it doesn’t involve genuine sexual attraction per se. It’s notable because it’s a carefully executed exception to the norm.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:15 AM

Mods here don’t allow posts on looks. But yes, lookism is bigoted, just acceptable. Ugly people aren’t undeserving of love because of their ugliness, but we often deny them these chances anyway. The reason it’s acceptable is because, within reasonable limits of social or bodily harm, personal autonomy supersedes fairness and equality/equity. Forcing someone to date an ugly person violates the former’s consent, and that’s a greater malice than the unfairness that ugly people face. However, lookis…
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:11 AM

True. However, the first part is often implied. Suppose someone doesn’t want to date an individual of a certain race. It is imperative to ask why. “My family and culture won’t allow it.” Alright, but this now will require further introspection. “I just don’t like, for xyz reasons”, you’re imbuing them with stereotypical reasoning and projecting a personality onto them.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 10:09 AM

Agreed, my point wasn’t very clear, but it still stands.

/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 09:59 AM

She chose to be promiscuous, presumably. If a woman was forced to do sex work to support her family out of destitution, I wouldn’t hold it against her, because she was essentially forced to be a sex worker due to the life she was forced to live. I think it’s bigotry to call this woman a slut, because it wasn’t the life she wanted to live, and you’ll be holding the actions of unwanted choices against her. Bonnie Blue, as far as I know, chose to be promiscuous.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 09:42 AM

If you’re trying to play at semantics by saying you’ll never date homosexual men, this is a fruitless conversation. If you’re bigoted against bisexual men, I agree with your agreement. I will point out that being bigoted against bisexual men in the context of dating doesn’t make you a bad person (although I personally don’t think anyone is good or bad, but that’s not the point of the discussion), because you’re not bigoted against bisexual men in other avenues of life. It’s like different rungs …
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/26 09:33 AM

Well if by gay you mean bisexual/pansexual, then yes, you’re a bigot. Otherwise it’s just a tautology, a woman, by definition, can’t date a gay (homosexual) man. That’s fine, just own it.

Radical Tumblr brain rot and homophobia? More likely than you think. I’m a “man of colour”; I despise the moniker because I’m more than my skin, but whatever; I was raised upper-middle class in Singapore and my dad is rich, a poor white man is certainly less privileged than me.

Statistically, I'm sure a lot more first dates go better than these. Ignoring that, you make the assumption that the only men who get first dates are Chads, which is a pathetic and most likely faulty idea. Unless we get clarification that the men on these dates are indeed 'Chads', we can't know that your point is valid. It's also so funny. 'Chads' when I was in school was a man who 'slayed' and could get the hottest women. Now it's apparently any man who can get a date. Good to know, I can now c…

Because why are you bringing a +1 to a date, let alone your fucking grandma? An older adult figure only comes along to a date when you're young and need a chaperone, I'm talking middle school. Either you're too immature to date as an adult, or you need family approval for a first date, both of which are red flags.

Yeah he's a dick. ??? That's just abnormal It's not inherently a red flag, but if this is American, I can see why this is something worth noticing. One can safely assume that none of these dates ended well. I've gone on first dates with multiple people, most don't see a second date, for a myriad of reasons.

This isn't a comment I can reply to in good faith, because it feels inflammatory, and because I don't know how to approach this; I don't have enough experience or information on the subject matter to make an observation. I will say though, that there is usually ore stigma against single moms than single dads.

To be honest I think there's a difference between a recently single 28 year old and a divorced/widowed 55 year old. If you've spent a large portion of your life being with one person, and built a life with them, losing them is mentally and emotionally taxing, and sometimes it feels wrong or fatiguing to pick the pieces up and restart. It's easier when you're young and have more to gain from life. I'm single, and am open to dating again. If I was 50 with two kids and a dead wife, it'd be harder f…

It's not pathological to be uncomfortable with promiscuity. It's pathological to obsess over it, and be brain rotted about it. If all you can think of is how you compare to other men, you have issues. I'm not doing a rigorous collection of data, I'm operating on the lived experiences of me and people my age, across different countries (India, Singapore, America, and Australia), and different walks of life.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/26 12:35 PM

You know what, if this is your reality, then I can't invalidate it. I can't know the absolute truth, and I can't speak for all men; and if you have had these experiences, I can't deny them. Furthermore, height is something I'm more black pilled on than average, if you're a man and below 5'5", you'll almost certainly have problems, but I don't think it's statistically impossible to find love or attraction. I still think it's not true that short men are all destined to be incels and khhv's, but th…

This whole sub is a circlejerk. I'm a bit of a hypocrite, because I do enjoy engaging with this asylum of a sub at times. But every once in a while, I see such an atrocious, Iran-pilled, incel-like take on here that I close Reddit, go offline, go for a walk, and just say hi to people, it keeps me grounded.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/26 12:29 PM

Hallmark movies are incredibly popular. I'd be hard pressed to find women leaving their Corporate Big Shot husbands in droves and move from the Big City to Christmasville to settle down with the son of a widower father who runs a sleigh making business.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/26 12:27 PM

Assuming you're right, and that I'm unconsciously imagining my partner with other people, when I'm right with them, mind you, how would I even know? As far as I know, I have no complex about dating that is relevant to insecurity about my partner's past. I have rarely seen nuanced TRP or Black Pill takes on this sub. Incels are omnipresent here, and they're too far gone mentally to have a sound discussion.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/26 12:26 PM

The blackpill does indeed hold some truths. In the context of dating, yes, looks matter. Yes, short men are likely to have it somewhat harder. Yes, being autistic and ill-socialised will lead to some difficulties. Where it goes wrong is in hyperbolising these issues, and in causing hate. Short men are not destined to be khhv manlets. You don't need a Chad facial archetype to get laid. Trve Adams are the products of schizophrenic minds. LTNs, LTBs, HTNs, etc. are the results of trying to treat at…
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/26 12:24 PM

Social media algorithms are designed to prioritise interactions and noise generation, so controversial and shitty takes are prioritised, which leads to more interaction with these posts, which leads to more relevance. People who live their lives chronically online, especially those who surround themselves with culture war takes, are more prone to equating algorithmic popularity with real world relevance. It's like that study that showed many Americans think around a fifth of the population is tr…
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/26 12:18 PM

Yes, people generally find fit, socially aware, and decently competent people attractive. Not only is this not impossible to achieve, it's not the same as needing to be a Trve Adam or a millionaire to find sex or love.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/26 12:15 PM

These are not normal because they're statistically not the norm. Most women don't go around fucking random men in the name of "finding themselves", the same applies to men. Dating and learning to be in a relationship and how you find and handle love is a valid, and necessary thing to do. Sometimes it works out with one or two people, sometimes it takes a bit more. Obviously if you're a serial dater, you have issues that need to be worked on, and maybe you won't end up in a loving, everlasting re…

Also, I wanted to add on. I wasn’t raised in an environment where I believed that looks don’t matter. Attraction is amoral, all that matters for attraction is charm and looks. Now being in a relationship includes personality and character.

I take a somewhat academic interest in gender dynamics, so I'd appreciate if you can link some TRP material that isn't PUA. I do think TRP can have some good points, it's often clouded by hate and misogyny.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/25 06:57 AM

I agree, many people, including "progressives" still tie intrinsic value to sexual success. However, I disagree that not being an RPers means being shy. I'm not into TRP, yet I don't see myself as shy. I don't go around seeking sex or relationships from random women, and I don't make my life revolve around increasing my appeal; but I'm not shy or socially awkward. I'm representing myself here, not all people who're not into TRP. There's a world between being socially awkward & shy and being an R…

I've been reading comments by RPers on this sub, and listening to people I know who're involved with TRP ideas. Maybe it's less something about TRP itself and more about the people it draws, but RPers tend to have a one-track mind about sex and gender dynamics, as if unable to comprehend much beyond that.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/25 06:47 AM
2

True. For what it's worth, I think many older "RPers" tend to be fairly well-adjusted, even if I disagree with their takes in many cases. It's usually younger RPers who are more maladjusted, and they seem like they're chasing sex at the expense of other goals.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/25 06:36 AM
2

I agree that a lot of TRP views were, and in many cases still are, mainstream. My point isn't that, it's that a lot of people who adhere to TRP seem to design their lives and characters around sexual appeal, as if their lives are tools for sexual reputation and gratification. Perhaps this isn't something fundamental to TRP in theory, but in my experience, in practice, RPers end up as sex-obsessed people who can't imagine any driving force in life beyond that.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/25 06:23 AM
3

I agree that a lot of TRP views are actually quite mainstream. I personally disagree with quite a few of them, but I represent myself, not society at large. I think hypergamy is "ok" in the sense that it's good that women want to date socially respected, well-adjusted, independent men. For what it's worth, I think a lot of men have piss poor standards, and we too should be "hypergamous". My point here is that people who "identify" as RP often fall into a life that's focused mostly, if not solely…

1

I have no clue how much more specific you want me to be.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 03:56 PM
1

Ignoring the independence of a person means you don't fundamentally see them as someone with their own life and personhood, and your view of them is through the lens of how they relate to you. My mother's identity isn't just as my mother. She's a retired lawyer, a yoga instructor, a mother, a sister, an aunt, and many more things. If I view her as just a mother, I fundamentally don't respect her for her achievements or who she is in her entirety.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 03:31 PM
2

Because in the context of a romantic relationship, ignoring the independence of your partner leads to the following: - The idea that their primary identity is as your partner, anything outside of this identity is irrelevant or should be quashed. - The idea that you have control over their life. This is more serious and happens in specific cases, but it can be relevant depending on the relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 03:15 PM
2

If you don't view a grown, mentally sound adult as their own independent being, you don't respect their autonomy, and you feel entitled to them, like their existence, in ways either gross or subtle, is centred around you. If I don't view my partner as an independent being, I implicitly think of their existence as centred around being my partner, I don't see them for who they are outside of a relationship. Since their primary identity, in my opinion, is tied to their connection to me, I can never…
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 03:03 PM
3

What exactly do you need me to spell out? I don't understand how this isn't easily understood. If you want a partner, understand that your partner doesn't exist to serve your fantasy. They are their own person, and the first step of respect is in understanding that, and not reducing them to a stereotype or an object of a fantasy.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 02:44 PM
1

It's a polite-ish way of insinuating that the implicated person is either unattractive, too immature, or too unlikeable to find a partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 02:40 PM
5

I just fucking did. Buy an English textbook. If you don't get the gist, idolising and fetishising the state of being in a relationship is not the same as viewing your partner as their own fully-realised, independent, human being with their own life and character. Choose someone based on attractiveness, yes, but also who they are as people. See what your dealbreakers are, and learn to respect their personality and view them as their own being, not just as someone who'll take your loneliness away.…
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 02:37 PM
3

Being elated that someone at last has shown be some attention can blind me to how she is as an actual human being, with her own personality and traits. I may, and most likely will, end up idolising certain aspects of her, and most importantly, ignore anything about her that doesn't suit this fantasy relationship, and only highlight elements of her that I like. I'm fetishising her and our relationship, instead of seeing her for her whole person, and I'm not respecting who she is.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 02:30 PM
7

Well, yes. This all operates on the idea that men are insatiable horndogs with no self control; an idea I thoroughly disagree with. But I think it's more effective to combat bullshit rhetoric by showing how asinine the ideas sound when the opposite is "equally valid".
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 02:28 PM
18

True. The point is that we shouldn't generalise all men or all women as the same, it's a fundamentally idiotic thing to do.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 02:24 PM
4

A placeholder will never be respected as their own individual human. They will be idealised, and their partner will mentally morph them into something they're not. Showering someone with affection in the honeymoon phase isn't respecting, seeing, and truly loving someone.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 02:23 PM
5

There is a common sentiment on this sub that conventionally attractive people are bad partners because if they can cheat, they will cheat. I think that's bullshit. I was using a counter-argument, also a bad, shitty generalisation, that points out that baseless rhetoric is stupid and should't be held as truth.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 02:18 PM
3

The point is that retarded generalisations and adages are retarded. Look at the specific person you want to be with, and see if they're a good fit.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/25 02:16 PM
5

If you're gonna go for anyone who comes first, you have no experience, and no self-respect and idea of what you want from a relationship. It's part of the reason why teenage/college relationships rarely work out, few people settle down with the first person they loved. If anyone who is moderately attractive will do, you're not looking for a person, just a chance to get rid of loneliness, your partner is a placeholder, not an actual person. This isn't to say all virgins are bad. I have a friend w…

Your analogy sucks, but I agree with your point that financial abortions are a dogshit idea. The courts act in favour of the kids, not the mother or the father, in principle. Whatever benefits the child must be considered, even if it harms the parent(s). An actual abortion, whether you agree with them or not, results in no foetus, no potential baby. A financial abortion still leaves a foetus, and therefore a potential baby behind. Your decision to financially abort the kid doesn’t mean the kid i…

I have enough self control to not beat someone or call someone denigrating names and insults when I’m angry. It’s called knowing how to be civil. Teasing someone mischievously isn’t the same as insulting someone.

Insults can be pretty horrible. Thankfully I’m also mature enough to know how to convey anger or annoyance without bursting into insult and profanity.

Hell no lmao. If I beat up or abused my partner, I’d hope they left me. Like I would if they abused me. Abusing someone isn’t a mistake, mistakes aren’t as severe.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/12/25 07:09 AM

Yeah, if I accepted the abuse and didn’t do anything about it, I was being complacent and weak. But a child facing abuse at the hands of a parent is never at fault for the abuse.

If my parent made my life hell and abused me and an innocent kid, I don’t give a shit how bad their life was, I hope they burn in hell forever. If you’re being abused in your life, either make peace with it or fight your abusers, don’t dish out more of it to others.

I’m not informed on this, but I’ll take your word for it. Any protest against genuinely beneficial movements for men, I consider them misandrist for sure. While we should point out the hypocrisy and hate, from a more intrinsic perspective, we should fight regardless of pushback. Fuck the haters.

Fair enough. But regarding feminism, the thing is that the nagging was also a massive social upheaval. In post-industrial Western history, there has rarely been a mass movement for women’s suffrage and freedom at a large scale. Fights don’t always have to be with guns.

We had quite a lot of simultaneous violent events and assassinations. One of the major figures of the independence movement conspired with the Japanese and Nazis and created the Azad Hind Fauj (Free India Army). I don’t morally agree with conspiring with such violent and evil empires, but I can see the “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” angle. Different groups had their own ideas for what an independent India should be like, so there was no unified war. But don’t confuse that with no movements…

Humans are social creatures, and we certainly need social networks and love in our lives to properly live, we want to thrive, not survive. But a relationship isn't like water. You don't need them to live, biochemically, at least not from a material perspective. We should give grace to people who're inexperienced, because it takes time to find self-love and understand what you want, what you're willing to live with, and what you don't want. But after a point, if you keep walking down a part of se…

/r/PurplePillDebate01/12/25 12:06 PM

Yes, I care very much about a potential partner and their loved ones and their corresponding opinions. Because I may date them. Being a person’s partner is about as close as you can get to that person in many cases. That is not the same as random strangers. This cannot be that hard to understand.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/12/25 11:56 AM

I don’t date people randomly. Almost everyone I’ve been involved with in a sexual/romantic capacity has been in my social circle. I vet for their beliefs, and the beliefs of the people around them. If a girl I was interested in surrounds herself by people who height shame men, I just wouldn’t be interested in her anymore.

Red pillers are still stuck on ideas prescribed to them by others. They mould their lives to chase sexual validation and riches, not inner peace. I agree, AOC was wrong for height shaming Miller, he should be shamed for being a dickhead. I know guys who feel into the hard looksmaxing trap, I’m talking about shit like bonesmashing, because they wanted to be attractive. I’m learning to find peace by myself, because I don’t want to depend on someone else to feel good about myself. I’ve also found, and lost love. I agree, a lot of kids aren't being well socialised these days, and it's hurting their development. The best way to manage this is to just make kids more social again. It's one of the major reasons I like the under 16 social media bans some countries are planning, make kids talk to each other again, let them flirt (as is appropriate for minors, of course), let them experience social success and failure.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/11/25 01:05 PM

I don't think government mandated or corporate attempts of representation are good. But the point is that in areas where social decisions are made, it is good to consider the effects the decisions would have on all kinds of groups, and sometimes specific voices and perspectives can only be heard when people of the implicated communities are present in the decision-making room when the process is happening.

I am trying to work on self reflection, because it is work that I will have to do for everything, throughout my life, it's a part of living. But there is a chance of randomness in a lot of things pertaining to attraction. A lot of the times, the context of where I was, when I was, and who I was with matter, you cannot isolate the inner workings of attraction to a two-body system.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/11/25 12:58 PM

I agree to an extent. I do think I was exaggerating a bit about the randomness. But the randomness isn't insignificant. And more importantly, the concept of "type" is a factor. Other times, a person's character and overall vibe elevate them or reduce them in ways that we cannot always work out. There are underlying reasons to everything, but they can be very nebulous to the average person.

It's not "just have representation". If, for example, I want to talk about the social effects of British Colonial rule on India; I cannot ignore the effects it had on caste structures, and how they reacted to each other. For what it's worth, I do think this is unnecessary at best, and malicious at worst. Representation is important for cultural issues, and making sure previously un-prioritised voices can be heard. For example, if you're going to make a documentary series on the history of American industry, you cannot just study from sources that primarily deal with White people. This does not mean that they are irrelevant, but that ignoring other voices can hide some significant ideas and facts, and paints a false narrative. Once again, is the number of unqualified women demanding illustrious careers significant enough for us to claim that women are snatching away the good jobs from men who deserve them? And representation matters, obviously not at the expense of competence, but when we're talking about a set of people who're all more or less equally competent, representation can be an additional factor. The disappearance of free/cheap social spaces, the proliferation of online socialisation, and the increase in car-centric infrastructure in the West has actively worsened the loneliness crisis, in my opinion. The ideal solution to this begins with better education and more exposure to people of different backgrounds. Fair enough, I see your logic, although I still don’t take this sub for a debate sub. But to go back to the original point of contention, online radicalisation and doomerism is a bigger problem amongst men here, and in general, than it is for women. And I don’t have the experience of being a woman on the internet. Most women in my life don’t care about online opinions anyway. I can only reliably speak to other men about the social media experience.

If I could do a survey of the regular users here and measure if there is a discernible shift in opinion and belief over their time spent, I’m willing to bet that most people remain unchanged. In an ideal world, I wholeheartedly agree. But as long as grifting and engagement algorithms rule, information flow isn’t really free or representative of the real world. Social media prioritises engagement because it brings in cash. Burn down social media, not the internet.

This sub is an echo chamber for a bunch of common opinions. Few people here are actually debating. I’m speaking to men here, and I’ll specify here, because women here tend to be more well adjusted than men here. And I know that radicalisation via the internet is a bigger problem for men than women in my life, because I talk to men and women in my life. It is because I communicate with them that I know men are more vulnerable to this than women.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/11/25 12:41 PM
1

My solution to this would just be to burn the meta/twitter/reddit/tiktok servers to the ground. YouTube can stay because I use it to study. The only way to combat radicalisation in the information age is to either heavily censor information, which is iffy; or to reduce the rate of information flow.

I’m a man, and I’ve lived through the gauntlet of shitty opinions and catering to said opinions. In my personal life, I find this to be a greater issue for men than women, a lot of men are too easily radicalised by the internet. Obviously the general sentiment also applies to women. I’m speaking to my fellow men here, because I see a lot more of this neuroticism amongst men here than women. Not that learning to not care shouldn’t apply to women, but on here it’s a bigger issue with men.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/11/25 12:29 PM

I do agree, I think there’s a higher level of scrutiny applied to men’s actions and intentions on the mainstream internet, in my experience. I attribute this to the fact that there’s a lack of camaraderie amongst men to stand up to shitty women. But ultimately I think my point applies. Unless you’re surrounded by these kinds of people in real life, don’t give a shit. Ignore social media.

There’s constant complaining about height preferences…
/r/PurplePillDebate20/11/25 09:06 PM

Where I’m from, 5’4” is average for women, and 5’8” is average for men. More or less. If a 5’2” woman wants a 5’10” man, it’s not that strange. If a 5’0” woman wants men strictly 6’0” and above, that’s a double standard. 2 inches of deviation from the median makes sense to me, beyond that, it’s a double standard.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/11/25 11:57 AM

Many people do claim it to be a double standard. Most women are shorter than most men, unless it’s a woman (who’s short by women standards) wants a man who is notably above average height, it’s not necessarily a double standard. A woman who is not financially in the same ball park as the man she wants does have a double standard. Most men are stronger than most women. Overwhelmingly so, I’ve seen skinny dudes who’ve never lifted before easily bench a decently fit woman’s max PR, shit’s insane. A…

In the 25 years since 2000, the number of women attracted to men and the number of men attracted to men have not equalised. Higher freedom to be out, and higher visibility due to the internet does not make the numbers equal. I hang out with a lot of men. Most of my friends are men. Of the dozens of men I'm friends with, I can count on one hand the number who're interested in dating men.

Once you’re 30, you’re generally fully mature and can navigate predatory behaviour. It’s common to see middle aged men dating women in this mid-30s and beyond. Once you’ve reached a base threshold of maturity, it’s fine. Below that is where the problem lies.

I'm not doing shit, maybe you're just not a likeable person. You're a dumbass who can't understand basic definitions. By your logic, a gay man would say bisexuals and heterosexuals are the same. You see how that's a braindead take? Have a day.

A 28 year old likely has an established career, has built up some material wealth, and likely lives a life with long term goals that are completely different to those of a 22 year old. Most 22 year olds have just graduated uni, that's basically the beginning of proper adult life. I'm not saying 28 year olds and 22 year olds can't click or that it's a spoiling of innocence, 22 year olds are old enough to make informed decisions. I just don't see why 28 year olds would choose to date a 22 year old…

You have no clue what type of people I like. Bisexuality doesn't mean attraction to androgyny. Bisexuality isn't a 50/50 split, it's a spectrum, and I lean more towards women than men. Even if I didn't, don't speak on bisexual attraction like you know it. By that logic, I can't speak on homosexual attraction either, since I'm not gay, I'm bi. Your freudian slip, or maybe intentional wording, suggests you ultimately see bisexuals as closeted gays. Weirdo. <image> The woman on the right is my type…

Every culture has its flaws. The point was that OP seems like they don’t know much about matrimony in non-individualistic cultures. India’s biggest problems are casteism, religious zealotry, and insane corruption. Indians raised well with access to good education who move abroad do well because they can avail first world opportunities and money. A two child policy is needed. Education sets a nation free.

That's not the only thing I judge, it's the first thing I judge. My view of attractiveness isn't about how good of a fuck someone can be. When I used to live in Houston, I used to take the bus to uni, and I used to notice the people around me, their mannerisms, their clothing, their confidence and way they carried themselves, and tried to find attractive things about them. But the point is, relationships are about family compatibility and filial duty first, love and connection second. My parents worked out well. People aren't forced to conform to specific gendered ideas about how dating "should" be. Dating isn't paramount in society. Those who can't or don't want to date are given grace and dignity and aren't shamed. The point above is in conjunction with not having dating be the only worthwhile source of intimacy. Validation in life isn't sourced solely from sexual/romantic success. Freer love and intimacy is necessary, and people deserve to feel wanted and needed in society. You can't force relationsh…

AI is a powerful tool, one that will indubitably shake some foundations of our modern society. We need it, and it’s the next step in progress, luddites are stupid. But we need good regulation, driven by shaping AI into a tool for growth, not trying to contain it. So of course most countries won’t give a shit about the chaos of AI, and those who do will likely just ban it in some way.

Agreed. But this subreddit is a bad example of men in real life. When I say bad example I mean in terms of sampling methodology, not in a moral sense. This subreddit has a higher than average number of neurotic, autistic, and angry men. You’ll find these men in real life, but they’re over represented here.

I implore you to not use this subreddit as a realistic sample of what average men are like irl. Whether or not your experiences with men in the outside world are good or bad, don’t rely on the internet to form your opinion. The same goes for any group of people. I was afraid most white people would be racist towards me in Sydney. I’ve met a racist or two, and I’m sure there’s many more, but most people are perfectly fine.

Modern Western society in the last century is not equivalent to how societies across the West always used to function. Women in Medieval Europe were serfs just as much as their husbands were. A lot of feminists despise sex work, and some consider sex workers to be antithetical to feminism. It's why it's controversial. The point is that sex workers shouldn't be seen as less than human for being sex workers. And safer, regulated sex work can remove a lot of the stigma around whoever solicits them. Patriarchal values that assign "respect" and "importance" to men based on sexual success leads to the shaming of those who seek sex workers simply out of loneliness. Yes, women can, and often…

It is better for us all to be liberated than to be shackled. If patriarchal society keeps men and women at -5 and -10 respectively, it's shitty for both of us. If a more liberated world keeps us both at 0, it's objectively better. Men who want to emulate gender roles should absolutely be free to do so. But don't force it on everyone; make it a choice.

Men who value gender roles should be allowed to pursue them. The point is that a choice must be offered, a way out for those who don't agree with these principles. I’m not dependent on their validation, and certainly not from the entire population of women as a whole.

If your barrier to fighting for male liberation is female validation, then you must find a sense of self worth beyond romantic/sexual validation first. It isn’t easy to do, too many people suffer from this. But it requires personal will to overcome it.

I agree, many people, especially women, make this argument in bad faith. The point is to not care anyway. Advocate for freedom anyway, why do you want others to do the work for you? The argument when made in good faith, is that a lot of people, especially men, bring up men’s rights as a counterpoint to feminist goals, but not in a vacuum; in essence, men’s rights, as perceived by these people, is a cudgel intended to be used against feminism but not as a tool for male liberation in general.

Those men are free to live their life as they wish. If they enjoy their roles, why should I stop them? I’m not here to force anyone, I’m here to advocate that anyone who doesn’t like their roles should have the freedom to move beyond them. I also like certain male gender roles, and I perform them.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/25 10:18 PM

Sure, I agree. I was just stating that a lot of people are more welcoming to genuine, wholesome social change than many assume. Women are also less rigid with gender roles as times go by. Not all, not uniformly, not at significant enough level, but progress is happening.

I think the cause is lack of economic freedom. The inability of people to live more freely largely stems from a fear of poverty. If we target financial insecurity, we’ll go a long way.

In my school, me and a bunch of my guy friends started a club for men’s mental health and to support one another through toxic gender roles and social expectations, and of course a general place to vent and find support. Not a single girl was opposed. I think it’s wrong for me to always have to be stoic and ignore my own well being for the sake of “social harmony” or for someone else to not get the “ick”. “Feminism for all” is stated in the context of freeing people from the patriarchy, which harms everyone by trying to fit us into moulds. “Feminism for woman” is stated in the context of feminism being a movement primarily for women’s liberation, to ensure women aren’t chained by arbitrary, harmful stigma.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/25 10:09 PM

Should that stop you? Many women were, and still are against feminism. Male liberation has opponents of all genders and socioeconomic classes. The point is to not care and fight to make your life better.

The goal of feminism is to help women break free of gender roles. There’s no obligation to maintain any sort of sexual parity. That’s the whole point, we get rid of arbitrary standards and requirements that keep us chained down. Wanna do sex work? Go for it if that’s what you like. It doesn’t define your worth as a human being. That’s not encouraging sex work, it’s trying to free a person from stereotyping. Agree or disagree with this as you like. There is no obligation for feminism to directly …

As I sad somewhere before, I fully believe the median national income for a man may very well be less than 40k. What I don't believe is that 35 year olds on average make less than 40k. National medians consider all age groups and type of work. I expect a 22 year old to do Uber Eats, not a 40 year old. And the CoL isn't uniform. 40k in LA is homelessness. 40k in rural Idaho could get you a lot further.

~62% of Americans are white collar professionals. ~27% of Americans are blue collar workers. The national median income for the US in 2022 was 77.54k USD. As per OECD ratings, middle income in America is between 58.2k and 155k. In 2023, ~51% of Americans were middle income, as per OECD. So again, not all doom and gloom.

Blue collar/tradie work includes carpenters, plumbers, electricians, roofers, foremen, linesmen, firefighters, the list goes on. These people play a significant part in keeping society going, and many of these people earn a solid living. I'm not saying they're rich, but your average electrician could probably buy a house in a suburb as an adult in their 30s. I live in Sydney. A significant number of solid middle class folk are tradies, it's good money here. A proper blue collar job that requires knowledge, expertise, and enterprise is just as hard, often harder, than an office job. My dad's an engineer at a desk now, but he used to work on oil rigs and ships. So what you're saying is happy and successful people are over-represented in real life. Which would give people to assume that those who aren't rotting their brains all day on the internet are actually well-adjusted people who're mostly living well? Colour me shocked. I agree with your second point. My question is, is the number of 35 year old Americans working gig jobs significant enough to make the average income in that specific age range ~36k a year? I'm not convinced.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/25 01:32 PM
5

True. It's really only Sub-Saharan Africa + Afghanistan that's still far above 2.1; even India's dipped below 2.1 now. In ~25 years, we're gonna have a decreasing population in India, like we're seeing now in China.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/25 01:31 PM
5

I'd be willing to bet that the average 35 year old American man isn't making 36k a year. I'd be willing to bet they don't have only 3k in the bank. Sure, 36k income is average across the working age population. But specifically in the mid 30s age range? No way. Statistics can easily be used to lie. If we're talking ages, we need to use age-specific data.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/25 01:21 PM

India's TFR is also below 2.1 It is by no means a liberal society. And we already have 8 billion people. Maybe a bit of a controlled decrease in population (as on no random or malicious culling of people) is fine. I don't care if over the next century we go back down to 7 billion people or fewer. Why is constant growth a necessity? If anything, we need third worlders to procreate less.

I never said exciting, I said something worth trying. My dad’s life is pretty boring, he’s your average upper middle class Singaporean engineer. He still has a great career and he’s had a stable family since he was in his early 30s. That’s something worth trying. I wanna be a physicist, it’s nothing exciting to most people, but it’s something worth trying. One should have goals in their life, drifting around aimlessly is the antithesis to humanity.

Historically, there was far more incentive for women to get married. Increased financial freedom begets less desperation for a partner as a reliable source of income. Women have greatly transformed their self image in society, opposing the idea that their self worth was determined by how well they pair up with a man. Men have been less successful in revolutionising their roles, or to break free from them, rather. A lot of men persist in reclaiming what used to be by trying to enforce the conditi…

I think you're too caught up in your own anxiety and need to look around you more often. Yes, there will obviously be some restraints, but you're constricting yourself way too hard here. I've gone jogging in public shirtless, it was fine. I've worn leggings under loose short shorts and a tank top on leg day, it was fine. Co-ed gym, men and women around me. Seriously, unless you act creepy, no one genuinely cares. People are far more apathetic than they are harmful.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/10/25 12:25 AM

I also don't see men wearing suits in a gym or compression shirts at work. Different venues require different garments, this is obvious. But within the context of a specific venue, there is more freedom available than you think. Not everyone wears basketball shirts and athleisure tees to the gym all the time. If anything, that's home clothing.

I can wear booty shorts and an oversized tee at the gym if I want to, I just don’t want to. Legally, nothing’s keeping me from that. And I agree, we need society to be less stuck up about clothing, let people wear what they want to wear.

I’ve seen dudes in the gym with a low cut tank top and short shorts on. No one gave a shit. I’ve seen dudes wearing only underwear and grey sweatpants, shirtless. I think viewing social interactions as a contest of manipulation is incredibly cynical. I’m sure there’s an element of it, but I’ll be shocked if a sizeable number of people genuinely thought of it that way.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 10:06 PM

Data can be extremely well manipulated. Especially for matters as complex as human emotions. I trust life experience and anecdotes far more than data in such matters. Like the 80/20 like ratio stat on OLD; that’s pretty much the gender ratio on there as well. It’s like that one article claiming Indians and Chinese love hair colouring more than other people. They evaluated data in absolute numbers, not per capita. No fucking shit dude, India and China together form a little more than a third of t…

The average person understands that ugly people have a hard time dating, that doesn’t make them a bad person. Being frustrated about it doesn’t make them a bad person. Letting your hate rot your brain and turn you sociopathic and batshit insane makes you a bad person When I was ugly and frustrated, no one called me an incel loser, guy, girl, or otherwise; because I don’t generalise people and didn’t turn to full time hating of women or “Chad” in a sociopathic way. I was still nice and respectful…

I won’t disagree with that. My housemates are somewhat misogynistic, not cartoonishly bad, but in your lowkey frat bro way. They’re quite socially and romantically successful. I think it’s because they genuinely just give less of a shit about rejection or women not liking them. I’m not tryna learn their shitty takes, but their confidence is inspiring.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 09:53 PM

Saying you know a “Chad” and like them isn’t the same as trying to paint a group of people with obvious questionable intention through poorly sampled data. Data can lie very, very well.

I agree with you than confidence comes from within. I’m not morally better than an ugly man. I do think I’m morally better than a hateful incel, those guys are insane. In my experience, cockiness is quite obvious, and it’s not like women can’t tell. Guys who were unreasonably cocky weren’t called Chads or hot, they were called mean and few people wanted to be with them. /r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 09:37 PM

That’s the same confidence I see in a lot of people, actual cockiness isn’t as easily conflated with confidence. Socially confident men can be douchebags, but believing in yourself and putting yourself out there, flirting and trying game isn’t cocky.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 09:33 PM

I’ve been unattractive and I’ve been decently good looking. Attractive men in my life have rarely treated me like shit before and well after. Those who treated me like shit continued to do so; those who’re nice to me now have always been nice to me. And this is the experience of almost everyone I know in my life. Life isn’t a high school movie dude.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 09:32 PM

Define the difference between cockiness and confidence as you see it. I agree, they’re not the same, but too many men see any sociable, confident man as cocky.

I’m sure that if I have the avenue to dedicate my time to maths and physics, I can be a respected member of academia globally. Maybe I won’t, but I believe I have the potential to be. My whole life, the Mean Girls trope or Jackass Jock trope has never existed. Socially and romantically successfully people tended to be more well adjusted and friendly. You can, and do need to self study a lot in fields like maths, but you need guidance. A good professor doesn't spoon-feed you information, they help you find your own path. 100 years ago, the 4 Year Bachelor's Degree existed as a reality; Einstein had to get a PhD too. Formal university education as we know isn't an extremely new concept, the democratisation of it is. The days of listening to a guy in a hall are far gone. More importantly, 2025 != 1925. Most fields of study have high barriers of entry for research. you need to be throughly educated in the basics first. I can't do research in maths unless I'm well trained in maths. The "time value of knowledge" doesn't matter unless you have a baseline understanding of the subject. I'm not aiming to be in the corporate world. Higher education isn't the only way. But unless you live in a pre-industrial part of the world (or in a poverty-ridden bubble), higher education unlocks doors to more advanced jobs. Try working as a lawyer or chemical engineer without a uni degree. You'd need at least a PhD in the field I wanna work in. Even barbers have barber schools these days. I want to preface this by saying that your emotional troubles aren’t invalid, and that the online world and offline world aren’t wholly separate. /r/PurplePillDebate17/10/25 06:11 PM
5

True. Society is shaped in a way that many people don’t receive critical validation when it’s most needed. Advocating for higher standards should come with a way to help those who may not find validation in such world, emotionally and otherwise. A more positive society, less entrenched in gender dynamics, is necessary.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/25 06:05 PM
4

It’s not binary. I engage in this sub because it’s enjoyable, even though I disagree with a lot of what’s said here. But I don’t internalise the opinions here, or anywhere else on the internet, and live my life based on my experience in real life. Online vs offline isn’t an either/or choice. It’s like a vector, there’s different components, what matters is the value of each component.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/25 05:59 PM
9

Absolutely. A more positive social climate, one where sexual or romantic success doesn’t determine someone’s worth, or part of it, is necessary. And a society which alleviates poverty and financial strain should be sought regardless.

Fair enough, a sober man when drunk is fundamentally the same man after all. I can see why a random hookup can be the best sex someone’s had. I can’t internalise that feeling but I can understand the reasoning.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/25 05:48 PM

Complaining is part of progress. The other part is those who take the initiative to solve an issue. It’s easy to be a critic. Critiquing a theory is easy, but taking on the effort to go through the scientific method to come up with a new idea is the hard part. And I live my life offline and don’t let online opinions shape my life. More people should try that.

Men who’re perpetually angry aren’t angry that women don’t choose “better”, they’re angry that they aren’t chosen. If you don’t go for “good men”, you’re a hoe. And when you do, you’re lying to him and betabuxing him.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/25 05:38 PM

The point is to be happy with yourself first. If you learn to love yourself and not attach your sense of self worth to how much other people want to be in a relationship with you, having high standards won’t matter. And every person has their own criteria and standards. Who am I to tell someone they’re dating wrong?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/10/25 05:31 PM

Most people are more social and friendly than many of us may realise, but being drunk and in a club just turns it up to 11. And for what it’s worth, clubbing is fun as hell. I wasn’t insulting clubbing, I like it. I think drunk hookups will obviously involve passion of some type. But I think it has more to do with inhibition and lack of self control than a genuine desire to be with someone. I’ve had tipsy hookup sex before, it’s never as good as doing it with someone you love.

Poorly fitted clothes can make someone look like an out of shape slob. A well curated wardrobe ensures you can highlight the best parts of yourself. And physique is significantly more important than you give it credit for. A handsome face on a lanky, hunched body is worse than an average face on a well-formed, upright body. Your physical representation is a reflection of your confidence. Seriously, there are so many women who’re attracted to a defined, toned body, and it can make up for not havi…

Having toned muscles makes clothes look better on you. Having outfits that tastefully show off parts of your body is sexy. I like wearing a well-tailored button down (tucked into a pair of trousers) with rolled up sleeves. The shirt shows off my torso musculature without being grotesque and my forearms are shown too. A lot of people have such a crippling fear of rejection they shut down any possible chances they have. Going to the gym can help your looks. No one said that. I don’t know if my standards are above or below average, but I have them. Look at dating like a function. Women worked to free themselves of gender roles. There wasn’t a mass clemency given to them by men, no one said “here you go, you’re free now”. I’m a man. I don’t like certain gender roles.
